I've probably listened to this song thousands of times (I'm old. 54 lol) and it still hits just as it did the first time I heard it on the radio. Some songs just transcend all senses...goosebumps are given to so many when they hear this song over and over. Do you remember where you were when you first heard it? I was in the car and I'm like WHAT IN THE HELL DID I JUST HEAR? It was so epic. The Stone Roses Fool's Gold did that to me, too. :)

One of the purest lines ever written in a song and these reaction videos ALWAYS skip right over it. Usually they'll stop at "I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul" and be like "bruh that's deep" and they don't even hear the next line. Its a real shame.

So this song was written on the back of Thom York (lead singer) meeting a really beautiful girl at a gig. It's supposed to represent how he felt... the quiet parts is how he acted in front of her and the creep chorus part is what he felt inside as she left. So when you hear the song again you are supposed to feel the anxiety and uselessness.

The song is actually about a girl Thom stalked while in university (his own words). He has never met her and doesn't even know her name to this day. He was totally infatuated with her. He admired her from afar and didn't have the courage to introduce himself. Great story, great song and admirable admission of self-awareness.

If you want to hear an insane cover of "Creep," check out Post Modern Jukebox's version. Haley Reinhart's voice will blow you away.

😀 I just discovered this song (because of a cover of it by a Johnny Depp lookalike). I’m slightly embarrassed because idk how I missed it all these years!

Give Post Modern Jukebox's cover of it a listen. Completely different outlook on the song and probably the best cover I've ever heard

I imagine it's tough to sing with that much emotion at every concert. It sounds very dark. Like he must have been in a really dark place to write that one.

I believe he wrote this after they opened for a band that was unrelated to their genre. They got booed off stage. I may be thinking of Loser.

He hates this song and he was not in a dark place. He was a teen when he wrote it and he thinks it's a bit pathetic and immature. But everyone likes it....the band hates performing it.

"I wish I was special" is definitely aligning with the core desire of INFP 4w5s who want to be unique, original, and special. Who dont want to follow the tune of the society like people who are leading with Fe (Extraverted Feeling). Thom Yorke is an INFP 4w5 so it fits his personality type. I`m a INFP too so I can kind of identify or understand where this feelings the song represent comes from. It's when I am in an unhealthy state meaning stressed out. We tend to get very low self-esteem and always believe the worst of ourself, constantly seeking validation of ourself from others. But when we grow into a more healthy state, we can let go of this and be our authentic self.
