I like this gate very much! Not everything needs to be difficult, this is my kind of diy project. I did notice, you can leave through this gate, but you can't get in!
Hi Juliet🖐It's a nice simply built gate, that's for sure👍The gate latch was supplied by the customer, so I'm presuming that's what they wanted🤔As you mention though, I think it would become irritating very quickly, not being able to open it from the front😶Thanks for watching and your comment 😎 Cheers Del

Hi Del, great video although I suspect I will take 'a little bit' longer when I make one the same. The straps are a great idea and I'm wondering where you got them from as they look an ideal length. Looking forward to more vids join the future. Cheers, Martin
Hi Martin🖐Those straps were super cheap RAC ones, (hence the orange colour) from B&M👍I wouldn't strap something to my roof rack with them and drive over 100mph with them😵but for little clamping/strapping jobs, they are perfect👊Thanks for your comment 😎 Cheers Del
Great video. I am just about to make a panel to fit inside a metal gate frame and was wondering about wood expansion. Would it be best to but the boards together and leave a slight gap around the edges? Do you glue the boards together at all?
Hi there🖐My experience of this is that, if the wood has come straight from the timber yard, then it will DEFINITELY shrink and leave about a 5/6mm gap👍I don't use any glue on these gates, because as stated above, the wood moves too much for it to be effective👍Hope this helps🤞Cheers Del
The diagonal braces must always go at an upward angle from the edge, the hinges are fitted. The idea of this is to help prevent the gate from sagging on the latch side. I sure Del will answer you soon confirming this.
Hi there🖐 One post was already concreted into the ground, and I just used a straight edge along the side of the brickwork to see how far back it is, and then fix the wall post accordingly👊Cheers Del
