- Heading over to France for a quick spin in the new DS4 and I fell in love with it, this is worth watching because I think the DS brand has found its feet!
We will go into the engines and hybrid system when I've had a chance to drive the car in Ireland later in the year

I have a 2012 DS4 1.6 THP with around 250,000kms on it. Next car will be either a Hybrid or an EV from DS. I do long trips so comfort is top of my list, had Citroens since 1994 and they are reliable cars with regular servicing. Resale value is not on my priority list as I rather enjoy the car than think about depreciation.
Loving this car, great review Bob.
Thanks Dave!
I like the rebrand, I would use the graphics at the very end at the start in some way, would probably drop the “show” also. Too similar to Mr Smith’s recent rebrand. Nice car but really would you trust premium money on a Citroen product?
DS is not Citroën, it's a whole Brand itself !
@@yannigan1 keep believing that! I guess since the STLA restructure you could say DS is a little less Citroen and a little more Peugeot / Opel etc.
@@stuartmchugh1754 Well, in that case, none of the Stellantis brands are independant anymore, because they will all share a huge amount of common parts ! But they all have their own design, philosophy and requirements, though.
@@yannigan1 this is true but at least the others have a history of independence.
@@stuartmchugh1754 Right !
Dy-es this, dy-es that... The manufacturer intention to make it sound like the french "déesse" (=goddess) goes down the drain. No plan survives contact with the enemy :)
Did they really call their base trim level “Bastille”
- after the notorious prison?
That’s like having a ‘Wormwood Scrubs’ version of a Mini or a ‘Holloway’ edition Range Rover.
Yeah, the French are really weird, they even named a day of the year after the notorious prison: "Bastille Day" celebrated on 14 July each year.
@@Mihai.Marinescu lol indeed it could sound weird, but Bastille is also the name of an area in Paris. I don't think they were refering to the prison, and most people in France (at least) don't think about the prison when mentioning Bastille but the area.
I think my mum had the Broadmoor version of the 1979 Fiesta 😄

Halo mr speeder😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄
What a great car! I'm looking forward to driving it in Ireland
Absolutely love the look of the new DS4. I had the old version a few years ago, and it was a brilliant car (even if the interior was straight out of a regular C4). I think what Stellantis are doing with their brands is amazing, finally it seems the brands within the group are getting proper funding! The massive downside for me would be the lack of physical buttons in the new DS4.
bob flavin : "france is a relatively flat country"
france : "hold my Alps, Massif Central, Pyrénées, Jura and Vosges"
You should fly over he bits between paris and the north, flat as a pancake. That’s why tanks rolled over it so quickly. The Alps are on the east boarder, the Pyrenees to the south and so on.
@@BobFlavinVideo oh you meant the region ile de France and Hauts de France ! thanks, great review of a great car by the way !
There are actually physical boutons right beneath the screen, you can see it in the videos, you can control your temperature and so on...
Thierry Mormoz, the designer of DS automobiles, actually said in an interview that he was personally against all-digital user experience in cars.
It’s nice to see a car company doing something a bit different. And weird
@@DonDixit yeah, them too! I just think it’s quite quirky.
Vive la difference !!! And still ... most people keep on buying those boring German boxes !
Wauw top car
The flat country is Holland, not France, but nice anyway, the car very classy, there will only be Germans who will find faults I trust them
With your new channel name, are you launching new Merchandising?
Citroen DS was my favourite car of all time, it was so far advanced. Then Citroen became a re-badged Peugeot. The breakaway DS brand look nice, but not as innovative as the Original Citroens.
Superbe ! ❤️
I enjoyed watching the Video Review. I particularly like the Style of the Car
I would go straight for a DS over a Lexus any time.
Pity how you can't get the hybrid drivetrains in this that you get in Lexus' Toyota's portfolio - they're patented.
Lololol. PSA already has several of its own hybrid drivetrains already patented too. Too bad Lexus cant have it.
Love the rebrand, really stepping it up now!
Thanks Eric!
Great vid and a really nice car! 👌🏼
Superb review of a french automotive gem. Thanks Bob ! Succes with the new channel !
I have one on order at the moment. Lovely car. Cant wait to get my hands on it.
“France is a relatively flat country.”
Well it is, have you seen it?
@@BobFlavinVideo Haha. I live there for part of the year. Yes, there are flat bits, but there’s also the Alps, Pyrenees, Jura, Massif Central, to name a few upland areas. Anyway, thanks for the videos and reviews.
この動画からサスペンションの振動の収束が極めて優秀なのが分かる。乗り味が好きな人間にはシートと合わせてプライスレス。
Glad to see a car reviewer who is open and honest and not afraid to say when the Germans are behind some other brand. Stay honest!!! Even as you get bigger. Also from L’Derry so nice to see an Irish car channel. Good luck and look forward to future DS coverage
Oh great another cross over give us a hatchback or saloon heck even a estate
France has gone anti speeding crazy. When I moved here the cops were not bothered unless you were really very fast. Many times on my bike at over 160 kph in a 90 or 110 a cop would wave a hand up n down. Now it's roadside ban for us & roadside spot fine for foreigners. They can impound the vehicle too.
The roadside place name for a village or town (white background, red border and black script) is also automatic 50 kph limit unless otherwise signed. The car that just pulled out, most likely, 1 drunk driver. 2 elderly driver. 3 Priority to the right junction. Or a combination of 1,2,3. Our village forms a "B" with the straight a principal road. Of the 3 joining roads, 2 have STOP lines and the third is a priority to the right, where you can just pull out onto the 90 kph road in front of a vehicle to your left. Crazy law and I do not do it.
I can`t wait for DS Automobiles to make a flying car and then you just fly over all that nonsense...
One can dream right... 😁
The "next gear show" ? What was wrong with the old channel name Bobby boy ?
It was my name and I thought it might not suit the new format of different stuff that's coming
@@BobFlavinVideo no no no Bobby boy, as your ma and da used to say to you, and you know it's true " if it ain't broke, don't fix it !
Level 2 auto steer, intended only for motorway and not at all for small bendy roads.

Love it...can't wait for drive that beast
I don't agree with everything, but if we all agreed, the world would be boring. And I still loved the review
Thank you!
Hi, I just randomly discovered your channel and you absolutely deserve my upvote. What do you think about the diesel engine 130 HP in that car and if you happen to know if it is reliable. Thanks and keep on the good work.
Great review Bob. Hints of Lexus designs in there on exterior. Best of luck with new format..GT
Ravioli? 😀
The tyres look a bit skinny, space saver spare wheel thin ( sort of) exellant review as usual
I wonder will DS / Citroen bother to properly convert the ds4 to right hand drive? Or will they, as usual in French cars, do it half arsed? You know, tiny glovebox as they leave the fusebox in the LHD position. Bonnet lever in LHD position. Or, like the mk iii Megane, dismantling the pedal box and half the driver side lower dash just to change the pollen filter. Because they left it in the LHD position...
Full size glove box😁👍
Another day another logo and the water temp is too high!!
5:44 Typical Tesla drivers, aye
What is its price 😕 point please
Why the name change?
Name change?
You mean Citroen / DS (DS Automobiles)?
Well they are 2 brands part of formerly PSA Peugeot/Citroen (since 1976), then PSA Group since 2016 (including Opel and Vauxhall since March 2017) and now Stellantis PSA Group+FCA (Fiat Chrysler). Citroen still exists and so does DS Automobiles. But lets hear from the man himself - one of the most successfull automotive CEOs nowadays, Carlos Tavares where among other things speaks about DS (DS Automobiles):
ruclips.net/video/OacI5qJKjiA/видео.html
It looks like Lexus, to be honest.
Probably the best looking Citroen at the moment, and it's one that I look forward to seeing in the metal.
I am in full agreement about knobs being needed for the heating controls. It's the only letdown really for the interior.
It’s not a Citroen! 😨😂
It's not a Citroen it's a DS the same on Audi is not a VW it's an AUDI or a Lexus is not a Toyota is a Lexus or a Genisis is not a Hyundai it's a Genisis.
Saying that there is nothing wrong with a Citroen. The new E-C4 and C4 are good looking cars and so is the new C5-X.
Thanks for that review. The back window looked a bit small? It would also be useful to compare expected values of cars after say 3 years, to get a handle on total cost of ownership. Could be done by brand or else by model, where models are already on the market.
Wow Bob keep up good work and wow car citreon was never my cup tea but maybe I change
It's not a Citroen it's a DS.
Bring back the knob for gods sake!!, Oh and those column stalks are about 20 years old methinks.
French cars often look spectacular upon their initial release but then reliability turns out to be terrible. So I wouldn't rush to buy this DS4, first we should see if PSA/Stellantis lifted their game in that department as well.
That’s no longer true. French brands have improved a lot. I think Citroen’s reliability is better than VW’s.
NO, few are crazy enough to pay close to 50k euros for a 1.6 L engine from a French brand
Some also buy Vw with a soap box design in these prices
@@SD-cs1ti give me examples and prices
@@cristim2569 A properly equipped Golf is not far away.
@@SD-cs1ti you are just a hater of german cars...for 50k you can get a golf R and have money for another base new car
@@cristim2569 Not all German cars just Vw that I don't like, but I wish you fun with your Golf R, but I rather feel like it's you who denigrate non-German cars
« France is a relatively flat country » 🤣
