Amy, that was one mighty storm. Oh the joys of gardening sometimes...it certainly tests our resilience. As you said, grateful for not planting out seedlings, so keep looking forward to what is about to be planted for a wonderful summer garden. Take care and thanks for vlogging this.
It missed us, but Castlemaine 15 minutes away looked like snow and a torrential downpour. I was in Castlemaine after lunch and it was beautiful sunny weather, then I got home and the thunder and lightning started, but we only had a little rain. My son came home later and told us about the torrential hail in town and we started seeing video online. We were oblivious!
Yes! Two of my kids were in Castlemaine at the time. They said it was scary but amazing too. There were rivers going down the streets, which to be honest always happens in Castlemaine when there's a big downpour, but that hail! So glad you weren't driving in the storm, that would have been scary!
I know how you feel my garden got hit by hail 2yrs ago and it was when it was at its peek 😔 it was devastating but i was great full that i had harvested a lot from the garden already 🙂 but to look at the destruction was horrible and 2 yrs on some of my fruit trees still have major scaring from the hail but i have made some improvements that will hopefully help next time 🤞🙏 I hope everything recovers for you .
Gosh, that would have been incredibly hard being in the peek of growth. Glad you had harvested from the garden beforehand. Would be interested to know what improvements you've made to help for next time. Thanks for watching!
Such a shame when Mother Nature hits and the destruction it can cause in just a couple of minutes. I saw some photos of Castlemaine streets and it looked like a winter wonderland with the huge amount of hail. We only got a little rain and distant thunder down my way.
So glad you didn't get the hail. Castlemaine sure did receive a lot of hail and there's a lot of damage to some roofs. It was such an odd day. So sunny and then a 15 minute storm. Crazy!
Your poor garden. I hope most things recover for you . We had the worst storm i remember in my life about 8 years ago now. It was terrifying. Have you checked your roof and gutters for damage? I am really glad that those kind of storms don't happen regularly too. Stay safe and warm lovely, thank you for sharing ❤❤
Thank you so much, our roof is fine, but there was ice up there for such a long time after. It eventually melted before we went to bed. I'm so glad there aren't too many of these storms too!
Tish, mate. So much copped it. A lot will come back (probably the weed, GROAN) but it's heartbreaking to see the damage. Replant your carrot, you can always thin it out later. Our Frankston region is in for a crappy week so I'm holding off on planting out.
Thank you, I might just re sow the carrot seed. That's a great idea! I'm keeping a close eye on the weather now and might hold off planting as well. Although I need to get more potatoes planted, but they will be underground. Hoping your garden is okay over the next week of bad weather.
That was a lot of ice! Hopefully that's your bad luck for the season done and dusted. Had to smile at your oregano - re-affirms my suspicion that oregano likes abuse.
@@ThreeBarrowFarm Oregano was one of the first herbs I ever tried to grow and I couldn't work out why it didn't thrive for the life of me. Once I gave up on it, it began to thrive. Now I only water it if it is on its knees from prolonged drought and fertilize years apart. It's very happy with the neglect.
We had this storm a few weeks ago ripped into the rhubarb and the potatoes they are gone lots of other stuff looks like garbage we had the hail again this week but not as bad the other week we had ice on the garden for two days, and unfortunately I don’t think it will be the end of it
I'm so sorry about your garden but it'll bounce back for you. 💚
Thank you so much, I'm hopeful it will bounce back too.

Thank you Carol, it can be a hard journey; the gardening one! I hope your garden is doing well. I shall keep looking forward.

I should ring mum and see if they had it an hour away!

Oh my 😱
Indeed!
Oh dear!
I know right!

So much ice! Yes, funny how the oregano can withstand so much force.

So sorry to hear you've had damage to your garden too. I'm definitely thinking of putting netting on all my rows to protect them from future storms.
