Overall the garden seems to be doing well after that wild weather. Your poor rhubarb though . Maybe it can still repair itself. Mine is looking sad , losing leaves , I think it's hungry so I've fed it worm wee . I'll see how it goes. Rhubarb is something that I've never had success with . I planted out my horrid looking Summer veg today. I think they'll be better off in the bed than in pots for me. Thanks for the tour lovely ❤❤
Thankfully the rhubarb will be okay and will have new shoots to harvest from in no time. I need to clean the plants up a bit. Rhubarb loves manure, so maybe give yours some? I hope your seedlings go well in your garden beds. 🤞❤️
Thank you, sorry to hear you’re having trouble with spinach. I do find I get less germination rates than other veggies. Have you tried a few different varieties to see if one in particular works better?
Cool garden with the size of the beds and planning etc. and I enjoyed the video, there are a few really good channels like gardening Australia and Self sufficient me and now one from Vic it seems. Have fun Amy!
Hi Amy. Lovely sunshine and your garden is looking good for the time of year and the severe winter you have had. Does your drip system run from a dam? Does it ever clog up? I haven't installed one but would love to, just worried about this happening and being an issue.
Thanks, I’m happy that some of my garden survived the bad weather. Yes, we pump up from our dams and send the water through a filter so that the drippers don’t get clogged. I do have to clean out the occasional dripper though. We pump to a tank and then it gravity feeds the animals water and the garden. Although the water flows faster when we are pumping and in summer time when we’re filling the tank we put the irrigation on so that everything gets a good water. Definitely worth having a good filter. I’ll do a video on the filter soon to show you. I hope that helps!
Do you think the plants/cabbage going straight to seed has anything to do with seed quality? I’ve just had 50 cauliflower and broccoli do the same.. all had white flowers which is not correct for Broccoli. I’m suspecting incorrect pollination from the seed company? I also bought some seedlings of both which have cropped well which is why I’m suspecting the seed?
There’s a lot of reasons brassicas go to seed. It’s more to do with the care and conditions the plant is in rather than the seed itself. Brassicas will head to seed if they haven’t been watered consistently or if the weather changes and they haven’t yet been able to form a head. If there’s too much nitrogen in the soil, I believe this can have an effect too. The broccoli coming out white is interesting. Maybe it was miss labelled? The leaves aren’t as easy to distinguish between broccoli’s and cauliflower’s. I always remember to think that the veggies want to grow strong and big fast from seed. If they are slow to grow then they will be stunted. I hope this helps and if anyone else has suggestions please let us know! Thanks 🌻
@@ThreeBarrowFarm your correct could be many reasons, but I’m throwing out the seed 😥. Open pollination can be av risk if not done properly. there’s a broccoli hybrid called Green Dragon I grow a few punnets each year to start the season (wish I could get the seed). They always crop well with large heads. Oh well that’s gardening, at least the chooks and geese loved my failed crop 😉
I have a question I have planted sweet corn a week or a week and a half ago I’m in avoca Victoria central west Victoria that is have I planted them to early or will they still grow please let me know this is my first year trying to get a head start on them please I don’t know what growing zone I’m in ever
You can look up your growing zone on the link I've put in the description of this video. I usually wait a bit longer to plant out corn. I've started the seeds inside and they are coming up now. They are a bit tricky as they don't like the cold. The seeds can also rot if there's too much rain, so starting them inside is best. I hope that helps!
@@ben4078 it’s neither, just lets you know that you are in a warmer climate than I am, so you should be able to plant things out earlier than me. However, everyone’s situation is different and sometimes the weather is different to the ‘normal’. You can search your zone and see what you can plant when, but I’d say you’re in a more cool to temperate area like Melbourne.
That’s so clever, having a compost bin on each row. Stealing that !!
Go for it! We love how easy it is to move the compost.
Great to see your summer garden is up and running👍
Thank you!

Down in Latrobe we had three days of "Hurricane". Trees down EVERYWHERE ! It was terrible.
Your garden is looking great.
Gosh, that's crazy weather, sorry to hear that. Thanks for watching!
Your spinach looks amazing. I don’t have much luck with spinach- doesn’t stop me from trying 😊

Thank you! I decided to start the channel because there weren't as many Victorian channels than other states. Thanks for watching!

@@ThreeBarrowFarm I'll look forward to watching a vlog about your irrigation system. :)

We're in the Castlemaine/Bendigo area

I'm not sure of my growing zone either.

I've added a link in the description of this video so you can find your growing zone.
Apparently I’m in zone 10a is that a good or bad thing
