- SEC Shorts hops in the time machine to go back to the year 1998. A year where Mississippi State won the SEC West and Tennessee dominated the competition on a completely different level. You might be surprised which teams were in the dumpster that year too.

@@josnjaxdad I helped my friend install his cable modem. We started a download and we got 75 kilobytes per second. Our jaws were on the floor.
Slow by today’s standards, but we were used to 4 kbs per second on dial up.

@@jerryjanik480 If you're referring to your split title with Nebraska in 1997, then yes, you won. Not many titles out of the Big 10 once they couldn't hide behind playing 8-3 Pac 10 teams in the Rose Bowl every year.
@@jerryjanik480 Michigan's claim to a share of the national championship in 1997 was before the BCS they played a 3 loss Washington State team in their bowl game, they didn't even need to play a top 10 team in a bowl to claim a championship and they barely won that game. That's why the powers that be set up the BCS so #1 would hafta play #2 to be crowned national champion and try to eliminate controversy with who is truly the best team in college football but in 1997 Nebraska was clearly the best team and would have destroyed Michigan if they would have been pitted together in a bowl game. In fact Nebraska finished #1 in most polls.

All make it *very* clear that SEC Shorts went to *insane* lengths to make this as (comedically) authentic as possible! Seriously, I love the amount of work you can tell they put into this! Well done!

When you think about it the big 12 was the top dog back in ‘98. Nebraska was Nebraska back then. K state was top notch. Colorado was legit. Ok st was building a powerhouse with les miles. AtM was a force to be reckoned with. Even Kansas was decent. And the horns didn’t try to take over the conference yet.....

I remember that season too. OSU beat ATM in the sugar bowl and I was thinking we could of played for a natty had we not choked against Michigan St. To this day the best Buckeyes team I ever watched.
That season was magical. Watching Ricky Williams break a 60+ yard run to break the all time rushing record was amazing. I was at that game. Ill never forget it.

The 98 season was my senior year at Bama. I got to see the Tide lose many, many times during my four years at the Capstone. Enjoy the Dynasty while it lasts as all good things eventually come to an end! RTR!
Watched the Tide play Auburn via satellite in Iraq under Shula in '05... these kids don't know, lol!

Times change buddy. That was the age of Hulimation and poor handling off Alabama's athletic program. Thankfully times have changed and we own Tennessee now. To the point our rivalry isn't a thing even more. Now if you excuse us we need to focus on better rivals like Florida Auburn and Georgia
@@samueljones3943 this is an ignorant comment. Look back at the overall wins for both teams and you’ll see Tennessee and Alabama win in streaks against each other. Sure, Alabama has won 14 straight, 15 tomorrow, but a streak is nothing new and if Alabama hadn’t built a dynasty with Saban along with Tennessee crapping the bed as an athletic program for a decade, that streak wouldn’t be that long.

If you rewind the clock, that's how things should have been. It should have been the Big XII poaching other conferences and expanding with large media deals. Instead, thanks to completely inept conference leadership, the Big XII is destined to be a shell of its former self.

Although I will say that if Perriloux didn't get into trouble before the 08 season LSU most likely wins another championship with all of Miles' recruits
