Good thing it wasn't 4th Down. Illegal Kicking also carries a loss-of-down with it, IF it had been 4th Down the defense could have taken the penalty. The result would have been a markoff half the distance to the goal, and a loss of down, turning the ball over at that spot.

It features seven laterals, it goes all the way up the field and then backwards, and then forwards again, and then backwards again, until it finally gets back to the quarterback, Philip Rivers, who... just kicks it like he's playing soccer, you can't just kick it! key words “previous spot” and “repeat the down”…it actually lost them 10 yards and they have to replay the down instead of three yards net loss and having a fresh set of downs since it was a first down reception.
      basically 2nd and 17 vs. 1st and 10

@@bostonrailfan2427 Gotcha, had a feeling that was the reason why after I typed that.
So, instead of taking the crack back block to be enforced from the end of the play (which would still give them the first down), they take the holding which would cause the play to not count and it would still be second down and enforced from the previous spot.
      Appreciate the explanation! Thank you!

i really despised how the broncos over-the-head snap for a safety got blamed on the center Ramirez. Manning even berated Ramirez and so did the announcers who stated Ramirez made "a poor decision" as if it were his fault. Manning was flagged for illegal motion and wasn't where he was supposed to be. Ramirez is a fantastic football player and it wasn't fair that he was blamed for the result of Manning's illegal motion penalty. Manny WE STILL LOVE YOU! RAMIREZ FOR PRESIDENT!

I'm going to say it because I have to get it out of my system. What a day and age we're in when refs are finding ways to even penalize outdoor furniture? "Unsportsmanlike conduct! Cowboy's Bench!" ....I can't imagine the obscenities that bench was doing to get that called on it.
But some of these aren't so much rare or random anymore. Like the kicking out of bounds is fairly common if the team has a crap kicker. Chop block is a bit rarer, but it was going on a bunch during the rule transition. Same thing with "illegal wedge", which sounds kind of like cheese smuggling.....Green Bay's wheelhouse there. I think the "GIV'N HIM THE BUSINESS!!" call is the best example of rare and random wrapped into the same call.
