I don't know how much Zeppelin you've listened to so far or learned about them, but if you haven't listened to much Zep, listen to all the albums . The drummer, John 'Bonzo' Bonham is considered one of the best drummers of all times. Studios have copied his drum sound for decades.

Stairway was published in 1971 and Bohemian in 1975. So it would have been the other way round.
Anyway, the history of rock is a great continuum of master songs : 1971 Stairway, 1973 Confortably Numb, 1975 Bohemian, 1976 Hotel California, 1978 Sultans of Swing… and on and on and on… to name only a very, very few.

It's well mixed, retaining the dynamic range inherent in the music. Modern mastering technique involves applying vast levels of dynamic compression so that everything is 'loud' all the time. And if everything is loud, then nothing is loud. ITS LIKE TYPING IN CAPS ALL THE TIME.

"Stairway To Heaven" is itself structured like a stairway to heaven, step by step, building to the heaven of that guitar solo, those drum fills, and lyrics voicing ancient truths -- "When all are one and one is all, To be a rock and not to roll" ... John Bonham, their drummer, passed in 1980. The surviving members of Led Zeppelin received the Kennedy Center Honors from President Obama back in 2012. They sat in an upper tier booth wearing rainbow colored accolades adorned with presidential medals along side the Obamas while presenters elaborated on impacts their music made in people's lives. The presentation was capped off with a performance of "Stairway to Heaven" lead by Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, that featured a gospel choir and drumming by Jason Bonham, son of the late John Bonham. Check RUclips for clips. It's really cool.

True story! I'd just discovered The Hobbit, by Tolkien, in 71, so I caught on to that right away.

Stairway might not even be the best rock song ever made. It's one of the best, but music is subjective, and your opinion is NOT the majority lol

It took Mr Jimmy 25 takes and 12 overlays to get what he wanted and what you hear on the original recording. Simply awesome!

Jimmy's own words from recorded interviews. If he told you something different then he's telling different stories to different people. BTW, there are many YT videos of them rehearsing Stairway during its construction.

Your face when Jimmy Paige and John Bonham really started to get going.... was a picture👌👍
This musical masterpiece, a comfortable armchair, footstool, feet up, with a big spliff👌👌
Another one to have a listen to while chilling is Pink Floyd's Comfortably Numb.
If you like the guitar in this one, that will blow your mind👌

most definitely the most perfect song in rock history. F-IMO, it just IS. it's also how i describe the blueprint for how to get people into heavier, harder music...start them out the way this song starts, with something catchy and even pretty, then little by little add layers until the time is right to blow the gddamn lid off--but be able to deliver when that time comes.

Brotha, this is my favorite video on the web right now man. Watching The Joy on your face as you discover new music, it reminds me of when I was younger and discovered the same music. I've probably watched this video 10 times in a row now and the smile on my face is making my cheeks hurt. Music is so powerful, it moves people, it reaches a place that we all share. Thank you so much for sharing!
