- In this video I have explained the concept of planar chirality in ansa compounds, cyclophanes and in trans cycloalkenes. Sir, thanks a lot, but sir can you please tell me in which book I can get about these rules. BECAUSE I am a M.Sc Chemistry student of Delhi University and my Professor is saying, you shouldn't change configuration is pilot atom is below the ring. So , I want to show him the proof.
It's a Mnemonic way of deciding configuration, rule is that to see the pilot atom from the top. Now take any example where pilot atom is below and assign configuration whatever answer you get note it and then rotate the molecule and bring pilot atom on top obviously this will change the alpha or beta position to beta or alpha now assign configuration of this molecule you will get reverse answer then the previous one. That's why if you have pilot atom below then reverse the configuration. I have also posted the same question on some forum will inform you If I get any exact answer.
