When the Super Bowl ad about that Mario movie went on the hype, I thought that now everyone died of a heart attack or at least lose their mind. That ad was a really big banger and good fan service, the use of the Super Mario Super Show theme song in a 90's style ad was so genius.
It doesn't matter if you have never played a single Mario game in your entire life, this movie is going to be a blast! Heck, I'm a Sonic fan myself and I'm looking forward to this film!
I can survive on only one video a year if they’re all this good & entertaining 🫡 Excited for the movie & for the next video!! (PS: Fingers crossed for Daisy & Super Mario 2 references, my favorites!)
mario has been a franchise ive followed and been a fan of mario since i was very young. seeing this movie actually coming to fruition and going to see this movie is a cathartic experience and everything revolving around it should not have worked. illumination as the studio and especially the casting. it could’ve been sonic movie 1 pre redesign levels of bad but probably nintendo’s iron fist caused them to get in line and actually make a good movie since despicable me 2 lmao
I was worried when they announced it would be made by illumination (dear god) But it looks great! So full of personality and it's so expressive! It's almost like Nintendo held them at gunpoint and let Nintendo do it and not get word around. Huh. Well it's been something waiting this long. I played nsmbw on Wii when I was 4, I am now 14. Maybe not as long as others but I will feel nostalgia in some time. I'm 6 mins in, and u deserve my subscription
Me and my friend always talk about how it was once a rumor and how then we got to watch it together in the theater probably one of the best experiences
This video captures the pre-release madness of this movie pretty much perfectly. It was an emotional roller coaster... Only rivaled by madness like the first and second Sonic Movie pre-release stuff. Seriously, if you followed that first Sonic movie especially... hoo boi lol. But yeah, it's so amusing how the faith for this movie went from low to high, even with its few missteps like Pratt's controversial voice. I personally always had the bare minimum hope it'd be a better movie than the 1993 Live Action film. Just due to being animated and having Nintendo closer to it. But if its legit solid? Couldn't ask for anything else.
The movie felt hype for people who loved growing up with the Mario games, before rumors about a movie with illumination and some people thought that it might not be as good. When 2022 came I saw a reaction video in RUclips about the movie and I was blown away. I also tuned in of what Nintendo and illumination has in store for us. And the trillers are getting better and better! I always came from school to see the final trailer of the movie. I didn’t know people were leaking stuff before the trailers coming out. I don’t know who is going to watch the movie or have watched it already, but I played the Nintendo games and I want to see the movies final product. It was a fun ride with the company’s showing beautiful marketing. Thanks for reading.
This was a pretty nice overview, it sucks how most things talking about the movie I can find are mostly either specifically about the trailers (as in breakdowns and easter eggs) or using it in some sort of bs anti-Disney culture war thing whereas this is finally a video going over the history of this thing (well from our perspective) for actual long running fans of Mario. Only thing missing I guess is if you'd have held off to include what the response is with sales and reception etc but either way nice video, made me laugh a couple of times too which is rare for these sorts of things.
Thanks you for your feedback, I'm glad you had fun watching it! I've always felt like this was a like some sort of historic event for Nintendo to start making hollywood movies and as someone who followed the news since the announcement I wanted to contain it all in a video.. Maybe I'll cook up a review after watching the movie. Let's hope it doesn't come back and bite me in the ass for being mediocre lol
@@AlexGalaxy14 Personally I think it'll be probably better than the Sonic movies which would be fine for me considering every other adaptation there's been of Mario in the past with the movie and cartoons etc (which I still have a fondness for but aren't exactly classics except if you're into YTP lol) Although to be clear since there seems to be a rivalry going on with that, I liked the Sonic ones fine enough, I'm just saying quality-wise I hope it'll be that. Also I'm a big fan of DK so I really like how they're involving his world in it too, don't expect to see much of the other Kongs except Cranky but a line or two from Diddy or Funky for example if they need some random Kong to say something in a scene would be neat.
4:20 The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. The film will be co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo and released worldwide by Universal Pictures.
Now assuming Nintendo's opening logo takes notes from SEGA's and then at least one guy points out at their other franchises like Zelda, Pokemon, and Metroid among others (dead or alive) assuming it's not just the Nintendo and Illumination logos like we've seen from the recent ads/commercials, which i hope it isn't
@@scottchaison1001 Nothing. It's just very ironic that the cast looks so diverse. It wouldn't be a problem for Illumination to just use the same koopa and Toad design over and over again.
2:58 not every movie has to push the boundaries sometimes a movie just wants to chill and have a good time Sometimes a movie wants to be cute and that’s fine
The Super Mario Bros. Movie and Five Nights at Freddy's both have the creator of the respective franchises involved and will be the shining examples of either what to do or not to do.
Some TV spots have shown Mario's voice a bit higher. Like it seems Chris Pratt pitched his voice a little is my guess. But idk really. I'm still excited to see this movie, I already got my ticket
1:13 I think some ips of Nintendo’s can work in live action Detective Pikachu proved that as long as Nintendo is involved They’ll probably end up having a mix of both depending on the situation
Maybe I'm too optimistic, but I was never really worried about this movie. We know Illumination can make bangers if the need them, Despicable Me, they just don't need to. And the whole videogame to movie issue has been surpassed by Detective Pikachu and the Sonic movies. Both of which are live action which in my opinion is even harder to adapt. The whole Pratt thing is more subjective though it has been feeling since before the announcement like the cool thing to do is to hate on Pratt.
I'll put it out by saying that although the narrative of my video focuses more on how the public reacted to the news I cut out many things (due to time constraints) stating my point of view, ever since the announcement in 2018 and found out Nintendo was in charge of the project I low key always had hope for the movie. when I said "I'm tired of pretending that im not " i meant it Hah. I was sold from the first teaser. and You're right! Those movies did generally well and here comes Nintendo to once against set the standards lol.

Im not an artist but I got the skills of a pro!
I think Chris Pratt as mario is the best

I just realized we know nothing about the person who voiced spike,
Spike didn't speak in any trailers, no nothing.
I assume since it'll be playing "Their boss" he has small role at the beginning

really fun movie quite honestly, watched it yesterday
It's-a-me, In a movie!
This situation is very similar with MercurySteam and Metroid.

I can see it being advertised as a cute movie and then they just pull out the most Lovecraftian villain at the end
