Part 2 of the Donkey Kong Origin video is going to take a little longer :) But in the meantime, watch Part 1 again - ruclips.net/video/BYN3AsFFri8/видео.html
Two things I really liked: 1. The Jungle Kingdom felt like an actual Kong civilization instead of a few on an island 2. They acknowledge the fact that Peach is a human ruling over a country inhabited mainly of Toads
I love this movie. It fills my heart with nostalgia and memories. The characters are well portrayed, the colours are epic and the story is just fun. There are so much eastereggs, I've to see it multiple times to find them all.
Honestly! I went to see this movie with my best friends in 4D yesterday for the first time and it was the happiest moment of my entire year. I think people are being way too hard on it for no reason, really. I wanted Mario, I got Mario. And that's enough for me!
In an interview miyamoto said the peach that’s in the movie is the peach he has always wanted her to be in the games since day one He just never had the opportunity to really do that until now he couldn’t before because of simplicity as a game introduction cuz it was easy to understand
I really enjoyed it and my Jack black knocks it out of the park as bowser and my favorite scene SPOILERS Is when Mario and Luigi find each other and use the star to take out bowser and was truly a 10/10 moment for me at least
I definitely felt that this movie is a segway into future movies. In other words, this is Mario’s origin story and following movies may shine on him or Luigi more. I definitely hope Luigi gets more screen time because he’s one of my favorite characters in the Mario series. There’s Luigi’s mansion story and Saharasa(?) Land which they briefly showed (and others of course!) I’m really looking forward to the future of these movies!
I adore this movie! Critics are so dramatic. They didn’t get a complex plot from the MARIO MOVIE and so they think it’s bad and I truly don’t understand how you can let a thin plot ruin such a fun ride through a beloved world.
Peach has been an OP badass since mario 2. I wonder how this peach and tomboy daisy would get along. A minor complaint about the character design is mario doesnt have his sweet cakes we're used to from all that jumping.
For real, it gets tiring seeing people who assume just because Peach is frequently kidnapped that she's weak Not saying Mentok made that claim. He seemed to accept her power level just fine lol
I hate movie critics. If it hadn't been "fan service-y" they would have complained about that. If the plot had been more complicated, they would have said it was confusing and they tried too hard. You can't please the whiners that went in with a bad attitude.
I'm hoping to go watch it soon with my family, and I hope there will be people making fun of those types of people saying the movie isn't "innovative" while excusing similar media for doing the same thing
Playing it safe was actually the biggest risk they could take People were expecting it to change everything as Hollywood does sometimes but Since no one was expecting it to not have changes I consider that a bit risk
I think the Movie was pretty innovative in terms of structure and characterization. It honestly didn't feel so much like a "Movie" as it did a cinematic virtual tour through the Mushroom Kingdom which I can honestly appreciate. In video games, the most interesting part about them is the worlds and items. So getting to see both of those things in action is more interesting than watching Mario and Donkey Kong cry over Daddy issues.
Executives:-"how do we get people see more youtube videos"? RUclips:-"I know, we'll put a million adds in front of every video, that'll make sure everyone wants to watch them"! Me:-"🐌👏"
I’d say what people have to remember about this movie is that it’s a Super Mario Bros. movie. Most of Mario, which the most people relate to and have nostalgia for, is made to be simple and fun and this movie is exactly that. Expanding Super Mario Bros. into more than what it actually is in a movie would either make a Mario rpg movie, which would appeal to way less people, or another disaster like the 1993 movie. While I still have my nitpicks, I just don’t think people are looking at this movie for what it really is and what it is trying to accomplish.
I think, baseline, it was generally a cute movie especially made for kids, but as an actual movie, it has a LOT of problems that can’t save it for me or get me to see the next one. The creators didn’t spend the kind of time understanding the characters like how Paramount did with the Sonic the Hedgehog movies. Maybe it’s because Sonic characters are more fleshed out, and SEGA are willing to let other companies work more closely with the fans, but the difference shows. Peach really feels like some random generic girlboss, and Bowser is dialed to 11 with this hammy, jealous suitor bit. I guess that's not out of character for him, but I’m just disappointed because there were some fantastic scenes where he was really intimidating, and I guess that’s what I really wanted to see, a more subtle Super Mario Odyssey Bowser. I guess what I want to say is they could have done a lot more with what they had. Look at Disney and Pixar movies and you can see the difference. Illumination and Nintendo had the talent, budget and the time for it, but it just seemed mismanaged in many ways. People like to discount the critics, but they know what they’re talking about when it comes to the cohesiveness of a story. If you like the movie, that’s perfectly fine, but their reviews count, too. Don’t discount them just because you disagree.
Not sure if this is directed at me but I didn’t discount them at all in this video. I did say some reviews were a little harsh considering the intentions of the movie but I mentioned where I agreed and disagreed with critics. This video is extremely fair to them in comparison to what I’ve seen on social media
@@TheMentok Oh no, I didn't mean to direct anything at you personally. You were very fair about it, and I failed to say that I appreciate that. I'm just loaded with general frustrations with the public who are relentlessly bashing the critics because they enjoyed the movie. And, of course, all of the VAs who are dragging the '93 movie in the mud for PR and paid to act like this adaptation can do no wrong. I guess it's frustrating for both sides because there's such a divide, lol. I mean, I understand that too many critics are using words that come off more negatively than the movie deserves, but behind the words, the majority aren't wrong, IMHO. This movie was too safe to not have mixed reviews for such a huge franchise. Some critic reviews, like the one review by the New York Post, do come off as unfairly highfalutin, though, so I can understand some of the backlash against them.
@@nessamillikan6247 Got it, just wanted to make sure! And I agree with critiques on the story but overall wasn't expecting too much. And whenever I make reviews like this I'm always sure never to bash reviewers because those are the opinions of others, and they definitely consume more media than I do xD
Seeing it on Saturday. Can’t watch this video. Although I can already tell everyone is….divided about this movie 😅…..um next time could you wait like a week at least before posting it might help? Thanks 🙂
Was I the only one who found similarities between this story and the tale of Rama from Hindu mythology. Something just clicked in my head the moment I saw Mario and peach enter the kong court.
You have a point. Illumination is one of the newer animation studios and all, and their forte is in comedy, family films, so they have their distinct style. They don't deviate from that formula because it's proven to be very lucrative and they don't have any incentive to do so. My opinion is that we could get an even better Mario movie if we just ask for it. If we don't ask for more, we won't get more.
It really does deserve 96% and the audience is not at all wrong; Illumination outdid themselves here, absolute treat. Hilarious dialog and mad action. As for the critics review bombing, many activists took to RT, Twitter, and Media Score to attempt to sabotage the film, for a couple reasons, one being for what the dictated as not progressive enough and lacking diversity, equity, and inclusion. To me, all three of these are already in the world building of Mario; how much more progressive do activists need? Some reviews were by ppl unfamiliar with Mario or video games, and they were expecting complex, familiar western writing styles, thinking it simplistic. Thats pretty much it. 👍🏼
I think another problem with critics is that they seem to want to see like a message in a film now. Another thing is the rotten tomatoes website is incredibly stupid. 59% is still pretty good as it still kind of comfortably above 50% so that shouldn't even be considered rotten anyway. And their scoring system doesn't make any sense. If a critic gives a movie a c on rotten tomatoes that is actually considered a rotten rating which doesn't make any sense cuz the sea is in the '70s and percentage. And a movie that has a score in the '70s in percentage will be considered certified fresh it completely contradicts what their critics do It just doesn't make any sense. I've said this for years even before rotten tomatoes changed what critics can put reviews on their site causing it even bigger divide between critics and audiences, but the fact is their rating system is garbage. There are movies out there that could get like a 4.5 out of 10 which is obviously 45%, but that rating which yes the website does have a rating and a percentage, the percentage doesn't match it like it will say like 30% or something which doesn't make any damn sense. It's a very bad website and I honestly wish people would stop listening to them.
I enjoyed the movie a lot I already saw it two times. I didn’t like some things like I love princess peach but I don’t really like her design in the movie mostly her face and I don’t like her voice it doesn’t fit her in my opinion. Same with donkey Kong not a huge fan of the voice. But the movie was still amazing I loved it and mostly bc of all the references and Easter Eggs they did in the movie.
