"the automobiles that shaped me.....that will be a lot of food trucks!"
Clever, self-deprecating comment.
I wonder what happened to the real James Corden ?, the one that was never effeminate until he started acting like a limp wrist on that so chat show of his...
@@tam8197 Judgy much? SMH.
@@tam8197 I think that is the real James Corden.
@@tam8197 "never effeminate" WTF? You must be new.
I love how they think the current value of that e30 is $1500
Some of these were recorded months to year or two prior. Around 2019, e30's would sell 1500-5k; The chip crises and the pandemic boosted prices by alot.
@@returnedfavor hahaha no even back then they were closer to 10k than to 1.5k.
Yes. Add a zero and multiply by 1.5

Automatic convertible..maybe.
By far the best interview James has ever done. It made him seem so much more down to earth.
watch his interviews with howard stern too.
Instead of a left wing radicle nut job?
@@mikelavigne5085 yes actually.
He is still a tool of the radical left, and a dumb person.
@@AP02112 he's British dude
Honestly this has shed new light on Corden for me. A lot more down to earth than what he comes across in other shows/ interviews. He seems to know his cars and that’s always a plus in my book
He’s always been a regular down to earth guy. I’d say that’s the most appealing part of his persona.
@@RogueCylon hes one of the fakest and most inflated celebs out there what are you on
@@Gobbygoblin I’ve seen him in person multiple times, what you take for fake is something completely different, then again I’m from London, so maybe I see things differently to you.
@@RogueCylon I'm sure lots of people from London can't stand James Corden too
@@oliveroshea5765 can’t argue that. He’s not for everyone, for sure.
The difference between an Englishman and an American?
One thinks a hundred years is a long time.
The other thinks a hundred miles is a long way.
are you going to keep using that as your own and post it all over youtube.
Oh but 100 miles is not a long way this is the future get used to it
The English have more respect for longevity and the experiences of their elders than Americans do. You say to an American teenager, "I've been doing this thing for longer than your parents have been alive" or "This thing's 200 years old" and their response is inconsiderate at best.
@@krusher74 now say that again without crying
Haha this is so true I have friends from great Britain and Wales I tell them I'm going on vacation aka holiday and it's a 3 hour drive they say holy crap that's a long drive.
I like that the e-type has many similarities to airplanes. Even know a airplane fabricator that works on his e-types using the same skills of fabricating aluminum parts you can’t find anymore. He shows up to car shows with the best car every time.
Malcolm Sayer, the designer of the E-Type was an aircraft engineer during WW2.
That look on his face when driving the jaguar! I know that face, I know that feeling… much love and respect.
😁The same face I had test riding my friend's Ducati Diavel 2 years ago.
Two different guys from different countries sharing a love for a Jaggggg! Nice episode.
I delivered newspapers when I was 14 or 15 and a college student had a what I believe a XKE Jaguar . While I was delivering newspapers I saw this car on the street with the hood open . When I saw the engine I was very impressed. And the body was outstanding. I still think it is one the most beautiful cars I have ever seen . It looks fast just sitting!
Jay Leno's car flex is impossible to match. Oh this, its the predecessor to your dream car.
James has got a very good ear for detecting the car model by the sound of it on startup. Random, yet awesome thing to learn about a person!
I've had a 3 series.. it's pretty recognisable if you drive it all the time.
He owned the cars. Not hard
@@hellosheila well forgive me for throwing the guy a bone
@@steroe7965 someone already made your comment. 4 months before you. Sorry for trying to say something nice about a person.
@@47buckeddy You are forgiven, my son. Go in peace!
Alright, who wants to tell the show's producers that the current value of a clean E30 BMW 325i is not $1500... Multiply that number by 10 and then you're in the ballpark.
Maybe they should've moved the comma.
@Chester Dougherty Nothing personal, but if you think I'm the only one who cares about E30 BMWs, you are profoundly mistaken. They are very much collector items now.
@@ZeGermanHam I'd rather not spend my money collecting junk.
@@brianhill4153 What do you drive?
@@ZeGermanHam currently a 2008 Honda fit with about 68,000mi. On it. Probably gonna get a second car beginning of next year. My understanding is new cars will probably start Shipping again in the spring.
I didn't notice my mouth was open in awe the whole time the 1972 Jaguar XKE was on the screen. What a beautiful car.
"Oh, I mean stop it". He's paid $15mm a year. He could buy the Jaguar with his lunch money.
You think he would ever skip lunch?
James: * shuts door to Triumph *
Triumph: "Don't tell me what to do."
Noticed that, yeah...lol.
At 11:15 the expressions are 'we'll cross that bridge when we get to it' and 'don't burn your bridges'. Blending two phrases together like this is known as a malaphor.
I absolutely love it! You guys made my day! So funny. A lot of nostalgic moments starting with the Abbey Road album cover which decorated the living room along with other albums growing up.
E30 BMW FOR $1500?? Not in my town baby! LOL. These even the convertible model in that condition start at $6500 easy and much more for a Manual two door hard top. Try $15000.
You see how these machines rise in value. These are my kind of cars. They are just pricelessly beautiful
This was a wonderful show, I need to re-watch to hear that e-type start up again
“We’ll burn that bridge when we get to it” I hope he crosses it first?
I've been using this line for years. It generally makes people pause and say, "What?"
My version is, "I'll jump off that bridge when I come to it."
Sometimes it's good to burn bridges. Only to rebuild it with others later.
definitely a dream car that James could potentially own, either an all original (that could break down), or one of the modern restomods to make it perform as well as it looks.
Jaguars Classic division make an all electric E Type
James is always humble.🇬🇧
He’s got a lot to be humble about
I appreciate a classic car even though I'd never want to own one, and Jaguar that Jay drove was really beautiful!
That Jaguar XKE was such a beautiful car. Who wouldn't want to own one.
People who like their cars to run…
"The car you love to wash"
That was exactly my thought washing my new car, the curves that go from the front to the back, it is so satisfying
I remember doing an oil change on a V12 XKE back in day. It took 9 litres of oil - and it went sideways down the road real good :)
Loved it from start to finish. But that ending was hilarious!
I had a 1976, 2002, Orange Coup BMW. Best car I ever owned. $7,000, off the showroom floor. I’d buy another one today! Handled great! Accelerated unbelievably with a four speed stick. Oh I miss it....
Squadron mate of mine while stationed in Germany in the '70's had two 2002 one of which was a TTI I believe. Great and fast driver.
What happened
Love this and the ending. Typical James Corden.
@3:05 : Show me anywhere you can get a clean 325i E30 for $1500 (impossible). I'll buy every single one.
A 1990 convertible with high miles and an automatic?

When I first moved to the East Coast from Los Angeles, I remember being awed at the age of the buildings there. When I shared my amazement to a friend, he explained that New York was nothing compared to many places in Europe. And New York is a new city, hence the name. You should visit its namesake.

That was REALLY cool for Jay to give James that car. Truly a nice gesture.
James is by far my second fav host/comedian, he was my fav but that’s now that tall dude with red hair that shouts all the time, O’Brien. Team CoCo
My Dad had a Triumph Herald Estate when I was young. Very similar colour. Doing 70mph in it was very exciting.
I did that in a Hillman. That was exciting, too.
I live close to Liverpool and went to all the Beatles landmarks and more from that Carpool. A brilliant day.
I immediately googled "Abbey Road" and yup, blue herald at the background just on the top of Paul's head. Mindblown! LOL!
"Hey, I didn't give you the car!"
Absolutely funny! 😜🤣🤗
That was so fun! Great guest, beautiful cars, my uncle had that XKE but I'm not as familiar with that 54 Model...
then I somehow KNEW earlier that Jay was going to give him that car!!
Excellent, thanks
Here in Germany this Golf convertible has the nickname strawberry basket, because of the safety roll bar.
Great pairing, James you're awesome "smithy" 😁
Thank you for sharing...
That ending! 😂
Had submitted my E30 3 series to be on this segment. Unfortunately it wasn’t stock enough.
Love em both tho. 🙏🏻🤘🏻
The E-Type is the greatest looking car ever made
Jaguar: What more could you ask for? Me: Reliability. You could ask for reliability.
Reliability is relative, I've learned. My sister, to this day, insists Hondas are unreliable. Her car in college was a brand new Civic, and the engine crapped out at around 60k miles. She never did an oil change or coolant flush, she ignored the check engine light for about 20k miles and a "weird noise" for a 1000-mile road trip for spring break. But Honda was the problem.
@@epbrown01 🤣 that's a great story. So what does she drive now?

Love that interview
Love that Triumph Herald!
Thanks Jay and thank you James.
This was great!
When I was a little boy and had two favorite Matchbox cars, now mind you this was in the mid 60’s..a Buick Riviera and a Jaguar like this one…I can definitely understand why so many people love this body style their just so cool….👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
A nice duo, of people and cars! great ending!
I owned 2 Rabbits. Both red w/ white interior & convertible top. 1982 & 1989. One of the most durable cars & so easy to work on. I don't have a pic of my 1989, but I will post below my 1982.
Had a dark blue 68 XKE roadster back in the seventies. Thankfully, mine was a manual. I learned to drive a stick with that car...
Last part was hilarious 😂
This was great, loved it !
Corden is such a joy and an asset to entertainment. Looks great with that XK-E.

At 8:08 Jay looks like a local car dealer in a commercial. Hahaha
KAREOKE
CAR POOL....????
Jay, l think you've been snookered!!!
They talk like the Golf is in the past, it's still the 3rd best selling car in the world. And the #1 best seller in Europe.
The Golf was discontinued in 2021 in the North American market. Only the GTI and Golf R will continue beyond 2022.
THAT model of Golf is waaay in the past. Genius.
not a huge fan of James but I totally agree with his taste in cars. Me and the E-Type were born in the same year 😁
Great Episode!
Great episode!
I had a 1980 VW Rabbit diesel, the 1.5L with 50 whole horsepower. It was a two-door, white, A/C, 4-speed, and I got better than 60 mpg on the freeway at 60 to 70 mph, and she was purring at 65; the sweet spot. That car never let me down, ever, and running around town doing errands, running her hard, I got a solid 45 mpg! I bought it used from an Audi dealer who took it on trade; they practically gave it to me because they thought they would never sell it; in fact, a wholesaler had already put in a bid for $1000; I offered $1200 cash on the spot, and they bit like a starving dog, LoL. At the time, it was 4-years old with 18,300 miles on it, not a scratch. In 1995 a mechanic friend offered me $2000. I let him have it, and he still has it to this day. I need to mention that the A/C took half the wind out of the thing, but on the highway, unless you're are in hilly terrain, it was fine, but around town, be sure to look both ways before pulling into traffic; it takes a bit of time to get going. It's best to turn it off until you get up to speed and kick it on.
Current valve of a 325i conv, $1500, someone on the Jay Leno show is smoking crack
Yeah, at that price I’ll take two.
Maybe for a rusted parts car. You can't buy anything decent for 4x that.
At that price I will take 5!
Cheers for the video
the Triumph door didn't close all the way LOL
I never noticed the Triumph Herald from the Abbey Road cover. Now I look I can see it there, just above Paul's head. Now if they could have got the VW Beetle LMW 281F that would have been something (though I believe it's in the VW museum in Germany).
First stick I drove was a white Rabbit
Love the Jag’s
Both guys too
Ahhh, nothing like finishing up with some slapstick 😂
JAY is THE MAN! Let me know you you visit Florida....
All beautiful cars! The Herold was my favourite.
We had a white 1200 estate with red vinyl interior on a C registration.
That ending was hilarious hahahaha
He got the last laugh on that one Jay🤣🤣🤣🤣
"That's a lot of food trucks" lol
I like this Jay!
My dad drove the rabbit and I drove an 87 golf as my first car. The sunroof had a crank opener and when I drove it in 1997 it had 280k miles on it.
I prefer the xke as a convertible as opposed to the coupe.
I think they only did the coupe for racing them
this was the first car i remember my father having in the driveway... but, not an automatic lol. a champagne convertible.
still one of my favorites.
I believe this is the only show keeping this network afloat lmao!!
Drove my herald 1200 convertible every day for 10 years my first car love it still have it
Only 2 payments left.😄😃🤣 that was good Jay!
At the very end the Masshole came out! Love it! (as someone who is from and lives in Mass, I think I can use our local slang.) I sure hope Jay got that car back though
Love this!
i have met Jay Leno in person this past April 2021, he is the BEST guy you will ever meet, love him
Holy smokes! That triumph is gorgeous!!
Im from Coventry, England and i didn't even know the Herald was built here.
A car is a car. It gets you where you need to go. The special ones take you back to forgotten places where you made memories so many years ago.
Ah dude, this channel is not for you.
haha I wish when Jay revealed that the Herald had been used in the beatles cover that James would have the same reaction he got presented with the FIFA Xbox shirt
I doubt the value of the 3series. Should be more.
I looked them up in my city and they’re going for around $2k and that’s with the inflated value from covid shortages. I have a feeling it’s one of those cars that’s worth more in England & Europe than it is in the US. That’s one of the ways people in the classic car business make a lot of money. My uncle used to import Jaguars and other old English cars that were rare in the US back in the 70s 80s & 90s and made a pretty good living doing it.

@@LudiCrust. This is sooooo far from the truth and I can speak to this because I just bought an E30 at auction. A convertible 325i is this immaculate of condition, even without the hardtop, is worth $15k at the absolute lowest and would be scooped up instantly at that price. And also covid shortages don't inflate classic car prices, the EV era looming is, and it takes a basic understanding of the classic car market to know every single car in this video, including the E30, will only get more expensive for the rest of their lives until they hit 90-years-old and settle forever.
A convertible 325i is this immaculate of condition, even without the hardtop and an auto, is worth $15k at the absolute lowest and would be scooped up instantly at that price.
