- In this video, I sound test the Black Cherry Pies I took hours to make. I use them in the KBD67 Lite.
Generally I don't think frankenswitches are worth it... But if you want to be extra a f and have a nice unique switch, go nuts.
sounds great but that spacebar did not deserve that slap at the end :(
Haha!! I should treat my hotswap board with more respect!
Excuse me if you have tried nk creams could u plz tell me if u gotta break them in
Creams are made of pom, so are scratchier than most…. You certainly dont need to break them in if you are going to lube them. If you aren’t going to lube them, breaking them in may marginally help with the scratch but you’ll still have some spring ping and depending on how you plan on breaking them in it’s probably a time sink.
I personally don't think any frankenswitch is really worth the hassle and money.
The differences are mostly to small to justify it really. At least for my self.
But I get the interest in it very well.
Yeah I mostly agree, it’s more than twice the cost and nowhere near twice as good as any good linear switch
Yeah, I agree. It's definitely a diminishing returns kinda thing, but to those who can afford it, then i think it's an interesting little endeavour to find the "perfect" switch for them
These were once the niche extravagant end game switch. However, I think the flood of smoother long stem linears have made these not really worth it anymore. The travel distance is just a bit too short where a strong bottom out is nice but it's a bit too abrupt. Epsilons are my go to for smoothness and a satisfying bottom out.
Yeah I kinda agree, they are real nice sure, but modern switches are so much better now it makes less sense to spend this much money on frankenswitches like this
did you put any film?
Yeah, TX films 0.15mm
i think they sound good, but i don't think they are worth the cost to get all the parts.
Yeah that’s the general view I think, not worth but cool to play around with parts! I’ll have to think of some more
@@tom_types i was feelin spicy and made a batch of these. i will say they might be worth the cost cause they sound soo good. i also bet if you could make them with the new jwick blacks, kaihl blacks, and retooled tops they wouldnt be too bad price wise.
Love the liquify deskmat 👏🏼
Worth the year wait haha!
@@tom_types haha yeah 😹 longest deskmat group buy I ever got into
to be fair anything on the kbd67 lite kinda sounds somewhat similar
Yeah Im going to start mixing it up, got my tofu on standby and a Mode65 coming soon to use
my board uses what i would like to call blood oranges which r tangies whith pro burgundy stems
That sounds cool, kinda like Creamsicles
Yeah basically same thing but I’m to poor for creams
they do sound fantastic
Both of em!
Raeds would like a word with you sir
They look interesting, do they sound similar??
How much is it per switch?
It really depends where you are in the world and of things are in stock or not. Im in the UK and they cost about £1.60 per switch if not more
You can try use cheaper parts like; other JWK bottoms, other long POM stems etc
I just worked it out and it was £1.35 exactly per switch for the UK, including postage
2024 its $.71 with black hyperglides, kailh blacks and POM MM
wait- what was the final score???
I decided against scoring frankenswitches! It's unfair.... I might do like a tier list or something one day to recap allllll the scores but until then, nothing
@@tom_types annoying as these are my favorite switches, but understandable! thank you very much for the reply and I hope you have a wonderful day!
You too brother ✌️
Was wondering did you any additional mod to your kbd67 or it's just as is?
It’s as is, only thing I changed were the stabilisers to Zeal ones
@@tom_types Thanks. It sounds really good. :) I hope I can get my stabilizers to sound as good as yours mine always ticks
Best video I’ve seen on stabs is the Taeha Types one, you might find something useful there
That thock👌
What plate material did you use for this build
The KBD67 Lite has a polycarbonate plate, with a silicone dampener which makes it a bit more muted
Oh check out those sleeves.
Also, you got Schiit into the Uk?!
Hell yeah, shipped from California… I think I even got it from the American site and not the uk version - pretty sure I had to pay duty in the end though
@@tom_types Boo. I worried that it would be DOA.
Regardless, cheers for vid. I’ve just received my everglides and am busy cleaning and relubing now…
Hope you like them, they are my absolute fav still! So good
@@tom_types Feel good so far. Planning to order a Q1 next so chuck them in..!
Gateron yellow pro
Akko green matcha
Jwick yellow
Which one do you pick?
JWK blacks
as smooth as Jwick yellows, as clacky as matcha greens, and as cheap as regular gat yellows.
I’d trust this dude.
I have only tried one of those switches, so can’t comment!
