Can also be played in A minor pentatonic. Feel free to post your jams in the comments section. Cheers! While you're at it, please check out my Phish covers at / nasheed-moiz
I just want to say that I have been playing improvisational rock for going on 12 years, and it is all about tension and release. In a simple way, the tension often comes from going outside of the scale and the release comes from resolving back to a note within the scale. Just a note for those players looking to keep things interesting. I learned this back in college by making mistakes that ended up being peek moments in a jam. D Mixolydian should serve a jumping off point only:)
Other things to try over this: Modal mixtures of Dmaj blues/Dm Blues scales, Parallel triads of Cmaj-Dmaj, A melodic minor, occasional D diminished arpeggios resolving into Dmaj.... Helps break me out of the mixolydian meandering.
Everybody thinks this is something different, that's so funny . .. My two sense is that it's Mixo the 5th of G major and E- Pentatonic . . . try that folks hehehe

This played far too long before I realized it was a short clips repeating. Awesome to jam over tho lol

Dont think scale.
Think arpeggios.
Use any dominant arpeggio you can think of. That will expand your licks 40 fold.
Teddy Bland Hey, that was great advice. Your simple comment just blew my mind. I really feel like I just broke through in my playing!
