- Restoration Engine of GIANT Motorcycle "URAL"
Thank you for watching! Leave your comments please:)
He history of Ural began in 1939 together with the planning of the II World War. The Ministry of Defence of the Soviet Union decided that BMW R71 is the best base model for making a copy for military use. New engines and gearboxes were made in Moscow based on BMW. At the beginning of 1941, the first M72 samples were ready and received Stalin's approval for production.
After a short development the factory in Moscow produced hundreds of M72 motorcycles. But the Russians feared that the factory in Moscow was exposed to German bombers and they decided to move the factory far east to the Ural mountains area that was rich in mineral resources. The chosen location was a small town called Irbit, which was an important trade center in Russia prior to the revolution in 1917.
After the II World War the motorcycle factory was renovated and in 1950, 30 000th motorcycle rolled of the production line. At the end of 1950s KMZ in Ukraine took over the production of military motorcycles and IMZ continued the production of motorcycles for only civilian use.
The first Urals were exported to developing countries in 1953. At the end of 1960s Urals were also exported to other countries and since then there are more and more Urals on the roads of each continent. Today, Ural motorcycles are a unique combination of price, timeless style and sidecar functionality. There were 3.2 million motorcycles produced in total over the years.

33:12 Thank You For Watching! -
I love the fact that there is no annoying music playing in this video, just the good old tools cranking and metal sound. It is relaxing and makes it easy to pay attention to the details.
Nice work and beaultifull engine!
Great job guys - The Russians sure know how to make a solid engine.
*builds the same motorcycle for 40 years*
You can't improve perfection
Sorry it's a dictation software that I used to sell some things and do some words in this didn't belong there I love all human beings and I love motorcycles and I love people who want to resurrect things and make them beautiful again I don't care who they are keep up for good work I'll be watching
Huge salute to the skill n workmanship of the mechanic. He must be talented in engine work n love his profession a lot.
everyone has their way of doing things, but i would have scrubbed the entire bike clean before any disassembly.
At least some forced air...it's oddly fake
@@Roger_Ramjet yeah, or just hosing it down to blast off some of that dirt. another thing I find odd is copper plating all the internal mechanisms.. i mean wont that coting just sheer right off on startup?
People like you amazing how you can bring back something that would be scrapped
To look so fantastic
Brilliant video really fantastic 😎🇬🇧
You make it look easy, although it most likely took you a few weeks to complete the engine. Great job overall. They need more guys like you here in the USA.
@@ctakah_ctojiu4hou983 естессно...
Doing an engine restoration and not starting it finally is the biggest cardinal sin of mechanics.
I am interested in seeing the whole thing restored if it's possible
Wow that motor was in great shape someone must of taken good care of it. What a gorgeous bike, great work sir. I love bringing old bikes back to life the newer ones have no character like the old ones. The newer ones are all the same.
It's clear a great deal of time and attention to detail went into this restore. The end result is worth the effort. Congratulations guys!
I enjoyed that very much. Not sure about reusing old bearings and coating them in copper as well. Sounded a little rough. Otherwise, great job dudes...
Yep, I also expected new bearings and a lot more grease in remounting the engine.
Yeah the copper coating on the bearings made me cringe.
Engine looks great but please post it’s second part of body restoration
Amazing how a Soviet bike from 86' looks like it was made in the 60's. ~ But then again, I keep forgetting that it is 2021.
I thank you that you show us that we need nothing new vehicles we need Restauration like this 🖤😎
Great. But didn't hear it running
Watching your work an old proverb came to mind. "Do you see man skilled in his labor? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before obscure men." Proverbs 22:29 Tom (the obscure...)
There is no barn find in Russia. Things are almost never discarded there and are used on a day to day basis until they totally die, which they never do by the way!
If it were me attempting this project, i would have pressure cleaned the bike down before dismantling it. You are then able to spray nuts n bolts etc, with WD 40. Enjoyed the video..!!
Immense Talent, Skill, Knowledge and Patience 👏
1. Maybe go easy on the sepia filter. That didn't agree with the copper plating and the silver finish of the casing at all.
2. While I don't think this is a fake barn find, I do wonder if the engine does run.
The video is amazing
But i think the next time the video needs better color correction
Love seeing these old machines fixed up. I have a 2014 Ural M70.
well done there friend. a great job on a much maligned bike. would've been nice to see it run as in other restos. i think like a lot of people here, that we yearn for the simplicity of days gone by, especially in cars, bikes and other machinery...again well done
You guys made that look 👀 sooo easy, I really think you have done that a time or two before. What protection does the copper solution give the engine parts, I’ve never heard of that treatment. Real old skool....no torque wrench, lol 😂, just like my mechanic brother, he laughed at me when I got my torque wrench, lol 😆. You have done an amazing job on your engine, i like the flat twin engine’s, reliable, dependable and easy to maintain.
Awesome video guys. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
yes we wait for the 2nd part, how does it look after restoration and its ride.
Have you bench started the engine ? What was the liquid that you put over the parts and heated ? I love that you do not overlay your work with loud music. Thanks
It was so important that you started the engine at the end. If only for the viewers. Good job non the less. ypa
The filter burned my eyes. it's unwatchable
Guess to make the dirty with some rust too look really rusty😁
The yellowish tone of the video makes my eyes really hurt after 2min of watching it
But I really want to see how it turns out
@@RescueStory great work tho
A beautiful piece of art
That's a good looking engine. Nice job on the restoration.😁👍
Thank you for the English captions. Excellent job on the rebuild 👍👍. What a great old bike.
Wish I could speak Russian so I could say it properly. A terrific job. A real she'd build with the basics. Great job👍👍👍
13:13 hmmm, head cast marking...yeah well who bothers, sand it down till completely erased! Focking brilliant job mate!
??? The time stamp you marked is literally the last second of the video 😂😂
@@averagecarguy420 13:13😂
@@e630fnr eh it was probably just the emblem of the manufacturer
@@averagecarguy420 oh “just” the emblem you say…ok, I rest my case!😂
Wow! Fantastic work! Looks new again!
I was surprised at the level of engineering in that. Looks like a very robust engine.
Nicely cleaned up and well organized.
lots of hard work , excellent results
The tires are fully inflated LOL suspicious much!
Well done..😎👍👍
Thank you! 💗
If I can't be out tinkering I can watch someone else tinker 👍😁
So impressive and working in the cold.
Well done, it’s great to see this machine restoration. I’m satisfied.
Looks pretty damn good. Just my opinion..... Black highlights on the vanes of the valve covers would look great against the polished surfaces.
That motor came out beautiful
Fantastic attention to detail.
Made a brilliant job of that rebuild.
I see nothing but pure craftsmanship ... very well done my friend!
There is no substitute craftsmanship. The copper part was the best and a surprise, I am not a mechanic, but I am a tool and diemaker and I really enjoyed that part.
I am sure it will run great !
@@RescueStory you are most welcome!!!
Beautiful engine.
