What a joy listening to these talented artists. They would be completely amazed to know, that we are able to listen to them, over a hundred years later. Just a slight clean-up, and they could be played on the radio today. Bless everyone reading this.
Your work saved my Christmas from the onslaught of modern Christmas songs. Simply beautiful, and full of memories from my childhood. I am not as old as these recordings, but my parents were older, and this was their music, so it became mine in the 1960s.
TRACK TIMING: 00:00 Track 1 - Broadway String Ensemble - Christmas Medley - recorded 1928 - (O Come All Ye Faithful -Silent Night - O Tannenbaum - Hark the Herald Angels Sing - Adeste Fideles - Jingle Bells) 05:54 Track 2 - Lew White with mixed chorus - O Little Town Of Bethlehem - recorded 9/8/1938 at Paramount organ studio 09:08 Track 3 - H Robinson Cleaver - Christmas Medley - recorded 1937 15:42 Track 4 - Kenny Baker with Eddie Dunstedter - O Holy Night - recorded 11/18/1938 18:55 Track 5 - Shannon Quartet - Silent Night Hallowed Night - recorded 9/23/1927
Lovely stuff -- and perfect timing, as I allow myself to start thinking seriously about Christmas only on Thanksgiving, never before. The first song in the first medley is "Oh, Come All Ye Faithful"; I didn't recognize all those in the other, lengthy medley -- I did, though, catch the beautiful "Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes," which appears in other non-Christmas contexts, and I thought I heard "Little Brown Jug," but I didn't think that had anything to do with Christmas, at least in the formal sense.
I have the song list for the Cleaver medley but will have to dig the record out. I did the transfer awhile ago and just put the video together. The British seem to consider Little Brown Jug and other various songs to be Christmas related. It seems to show up on a number of recordings that I have that are from the UK.
I am so very glad you are enjoying the vintage magazine covers as well as the music. I like the graphics on that old artwork it so detailed and colorful.

Did you do a search on the channel home page using the magnifying glass? If you use the tag Christmas music it should pull up all of the Christmas posts. There are a few selections with strings only but not many. I have some more music to post and I just posted a new hour long selection last Friday. Please let me know if you need any help. Thank you for watching.
You can also look under the Community section on the home page as I have posted some of the older Christmas music posts in there as well. It's only a portion of them in that section. I found a few more that I will put up this week.

Do you have any other recordings by B'way string ensemble? Beautiful arrangements. I tried to do a search of them and nothing came up.
