I call my old Christmas records, whether 78,33 and 1/3 or 45, the wheels of my time machine. I too love those old carols because when I listen to them, for a split second I could see my dear old uncles, aunts, parents, cousins all assembled in my country home in Sri Lanka in the 1950s when I was a child. " Oh for those lovely days of tinsel toys and Santa clause. People have their own opinions regards Santa clause but nobody can deny the thrill and excitement a child feels at the thought of receiving gifts from an old man who visits during the time we spend at midnight mass. Thanks Mom and Dad for all the trouble taken.
My Dad’s cousin owned a service station and Dad brought home a Firestone Christmas album every year they came out. Still have them. They’ve been played to death but that’s what RUclips is for, right😉 Happy Holidays, everyone!
@@katecoffee4744 My dad worked at Firestone in the early 60s when we were kids and he'd bring home the new album each year. I still have his albums and filled out the collection from Amazon and they get played every year.
Like everyone else writing here, this reminds me of Christmases as a kid, all the while I was growing up at least until I moved away from home, and my Christmas visits became an event. Back in those days (I was born a year before this came out) there was no better season than Christmas, and Christmas Day! As a kid, while the surprise of the presents was great, the best thing was the feeling that all was right with the world, including your own world, even though the news may have told you it wasn't the day before. There in the room were the people you loved and who loved you the most: your parents, grandparents, other relatives -- people you understood perfectly and who understood you perfectly, who had always been there, and made you feel secure. You didn't have to be rich. You didn't have to prove yourself to be accepted. You fit in because there was this space reserved for you so that you would fit in. I hope kids feel that way about Christmas these days too. I wish adult society operated the same way, you know, like a loving family.
Beautiful thoughts and memories. I was also born in '51...and am GLAD of it. We experienced a world that can only be imagined today. Thanks, and have a Merry Christmas.
To my knowledge, nobody is producing anything remotely as beautiful as this any more - and that is truly ashamed. Thanks for sharing this excellent album, CR!
Thanks for uploading these. I was a kid in the 60s and remember a lot of Christmas albums like this one. They bring back memories and feelings of our parents and being warm, cozy and safe in our home at Christmas time.
Having grown up in the 70’s and 80’s I was exposed to the most mentally crushing Christmas songs… how my parents ( and they ought to have known better ..) did not play ANYTHING like this is almost child neglect …I now have flooded a my RUclips folder with albums like this and this year baby, it’s all trad for me….❤🎉🥳🎄🍄🎄
just started listening to these and I can't get enough of them! It's so lovely to hear older versions of some of the classics without just getting Bing and Dean and all the regulars over and over and over again. Thanks for giving more options for those, like me, who want to listen to Christmas music all the time!
Ray was Jackie Gleason's orchestra leader for all of the Honeymooners shows. Be sure to check out the Honeymooners episode "'Twas the Night Before Christmas", broadcast LIVE on Christmas Eve, 1955...with Ray Bloch's sparse but excellent scoring, especially "God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen" in the final scene between Ralph and Alice Kramden. One of the most perfect, heartwarming Christmas scenes of all time. Thanks so much for posting this. Merry Christmas to all!
Every time you post a Christmas album I don't have on vinyl, it automatically goes on my 'to find' list!! This is simply gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas to you and all here!
I love this music from my childhood. My Dad loved music like this at Christmas. I love it now because it was respectful and decent and filled with good values. And that's how i and so many of us in my generation were raised. These values can never be replaced.
Wow, just stumbled onto this album. Every track on this album sounds like it could have been part of a Christmas movie produced in the 40’s/50’s. I need a copy of this for my record collection. Thank you so much for uploading this one.

Who remembers the old Firestone Christmas albums?
I fondly remember the Firestone LPs. I used to have all seven of them but sadly lost them due to a hurricane.
My dad would buy them , I still have a few of them, they were quality!
They're all on RUclips.
