    Beautiful. Just as long as it ISN'T the mormon tabernacle.

      It's always been hard to enjoy their Christmas recordings, knowing that they worship a very different Jesus than the one in the Holy Bible.

    Minor audio issues. This recording was first pressed on TOPS label in 1959. The 100 Voices of Christmas was also listed as the "Christianaires." There were other groups such as 101 Strings, 110 Strings, 50 guitars and so on... that was a sort of trend in the 60's and 70's. Enjoy!

      The record industry was always fighting a bad reputation based on how they treated groups or individual artists so it needed a bump in public perception
      Easy to crank out a few albums each year to help shore up their stranglehold money grab the rest of the year

      @@Ablecore Thanks for your comment. We can have that conversation. My interest is in the music and preservation of these recordings. I hope that the folks that have taken part in these wonderful hymns find them to enjoy as well as the rest of us. Take Care.

    I grew up with and still have an exact copy of this recording on vinyl. When I first saw it in your collection, the cover alone brought back so many memories of Christmas’s from years ago. This, along with Perry Como’s Christmas album and “Gene Autry Sings Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”, were the foundation of my family’s Christmas album collection. What a wonderful treat to see and hear this cherished memory again. Thank you and Merry Christmas!!!

    Just shocking that they could have charged only .99 cents for such a beautiful album. They spend millions of dollars on the production of albums today and still, somehow, they sound like road construction.

    • @christmasrecords12-25
      @christmasrecords12-25  2 года назад +3

      I have found some Christmas records listed at 49 cents. That was probably due to seasonal inventory clearance.

    • @trudygreer2491
      @trudygreer2491 2 года назад +4

      In 2022 money that 99 cents is $8.28, a very good price by today's standards~ I vaguely remember paying $2-5 for albums in the late '70s..
      I concur on the road construction tho!

    Yes, 99¢ sounds good. I still remember paying 9¢ per can for Campbells soup and 25¢ for a loaf of bread. But my '66 pay was $1.64/hr. It was my first (very challenging!) job, and I thought I was rich! 😁
    Six years later my husband and I traded in our Camaro Super Sport, because the hi-test gasoline it required hit 40.9¢ per gallon! We thought that was just too much money for us to pay! 😂 It's all relative.

    • @christmasrecords12-25

      That's true Rebecca. By curiosity I checked my 1967 Sears catalog and found a 23" color TV console that cost $599.95 at that time. So I found a conversion chart and it calculated the price today would be $5,353.42!! Of course today you can buy a 40" Widescreen TV for under $200. Conversely, the 2022 Widescreen TV would have cost you $22.00 in 1967. The .99 cent album in 1968 would cost $8.48 today!

      As I recall my hard working father's budget those 99cent records were infrequent purchases those days. Most every low budget record I hear impresses me for the earnest well intentioned heartfelt even spiritual effort these choirs offer up. Low budget, very minimal accompaniment, and yet truly worshipful listening. Thanks for preserving so many.
