    Ok so I speed run this game and you probably don't even know this, but at 12:49 you performed a frame perfect critical hit on Dracula which hits him for massive damage. It is used to kill Dracula form 1 as quick as possible. To do it you have to take damage from drac's fireball and hit his head on the exact same frame. That means that you had 1/60th of a second to land the hit since the game runs at 60 fps. I was shocked to see that you randomly pulled that off, but that will explain why sometimes you see drac take more damage than just 1 bar. Nice work lol.

      Holy water in almost every boss

    • @elnurgling
      @elnurgling 8 лет назад +9

      The Reaper always spawns at the exact same spot at the beginning of his boss fight. Just walk into the center of the room to trigger the fight, then quickly turn right and start spamming holy water at the spawn spot and three seconds later you've beaten the stage. Holy water makes the rest of the stage a lot easier as well since the Axe Armour enemies are programmed to stay at a fixed distance from you. Throw down some water in front of an Axe Armour, walk a few steps back and they'll walk towards you into the flames and die. It destroys their thrown axes as well.

    • @AxiomofDiscord
      @AxiomofDiscord 8 лет назад +2

      Cross/Boomerang on the Mummies and Medusa is about the only non Holy Water time in the game for me. Even if both can be done easy enough with just the whip and holy water would be my second choice ... oh yeah Axe on the bat of course damn flying bugger.

    • @cvmaniac7286
      @cvmaniac7286 8 лет назад

      If done correctly you can quick kill the Mummies by spamming Holy Water. The trick is to wait until they are on top of each other and then spam it. They'll be dead in seconds from damage and the stun will hold them in place, though I think you can do the same trick with the boomerang too.

    • @AxiomofDiscord
      @AxiomofDiscord 8 лет назад

      Aaron Weddington yes but I find it easier with the boomerang.

    • @darksideblues135
      @darksideblues135 8 лет назад

      There is a trick that, if the condition is correct, you can kill both mummies with one boomerang.

    • @cvmaniac7286
      @cvmaniac7286 8 лет назад

      Its the same trick with Holy water. Wait till both Mummies appear as one and you can quickly take both out. Works best with Double and Triple Shot.

  • @DoffysGlasses

    I'd forgive Konami for all the BS they did in the last few years if they just made another old school Castlevania game with today's HD retro style graphics. No 3D, no 3D on a 2D plane, just another game like this...
    Also, obviously it's a requirement that the game works properly and the game, is in fact, as fun as the old ones.

    • @Craplatte

      If only the guys who did Shovel Knight could get their hands on the Castlevania licence...

    • @AxiomofDiscord
      @AxiomofDiscord 8 лет назад +2

      I don't mind 3D on 2D plane. I mind the grinding backtracking and rpg elements. I mind a game that rewards you for your time and not your skill. It is fine if your just watching a story like an RPG but there really is not much story developing in a Castlevania and it is not the maze that a Metroid game is either. It just feels like busy work that pads out a game. I feel that is what killed the series for me. I actually did not mind LoS 1 either. I like the Germanic 3D beatem up action game with a decent story and interesting places and creatures. Not really what I look for in Castlevania but still interesting.

      well, obviously certain things would need to be updated so that it would work in today's environment. Maybe more stages and bosses, more playable character, maybe even some new gameplay elements. Honestly, with a bit of effort, it could be done.
      Personally, I just wish the presentation and the main gameplay features would return. I loved SotN (never played the LoS games, I'm not a huge fan of the gameplay in general), but I'd still prefer a modern, yet still retro Castlevania games

    • @AxiomofDiscord
      @AxiomofDiscord 8 лет назад

      Alex Ponekker I felt SotN was the end of what I loved it was a good game but it became the standard of the series and it was not what I loved about the series. It is an unpopular opinion I realize but it is mine. I feel if they went retro that is just how retro they would go. I am sure I will lose out. I did enjoy playing rebirth and still do a bit on the Wii. I am ok with that more of that would be fine for me.

    Great game, but when I was like 8-10 years old, the game was just too hard for me to complete (stuck on lvl 5 and I didn't own a NES back then). Twenty years later and with all the knowledge nowadays, I finally have beaten it a couple of times on an original console (of course). Still, it's one of the harder games on the NES.

    Not sure if you knew this, but at 8:45 you mentioned "finding the three things" (the II and III repeater items)
    IIRC you don't need to "find" them, you just have to use your sub-item 10x; the 10th time you hit something with it (whether it's a candle or an enemy) it will drop the next level repeater.

    • @ZombieRommel
      @ZombieRommel 8 лет назад +2

      Yeah they are, and that's a huge reason they felt so responsive. Old ass Mario Bros was responsive as fuck. Modern console publishers/devs have gone so far backwards by putting out 30FPS games it's not even funny.

    • @peterhacke9619
      @peterhacke9619 8 лет назад +2

      that is also to hide/mask how inferior their console hardware is compared to...umm dont know, what could possibly calculate stuff really really fast so fast moving 3d images and or 2d images in high quality/definition/resolution could be rendered in real time...........?

    • @RoundShades
      @RoundShades 8 лет назад

      Not every modern game is really putting out 30fps, some "critics" are testing a game and get 59fps once and freak out on a nazi rampage for it. Half the time, on consoles, and half the time not one console or the other but rather both. What you get for expecting 20gb games to play on 1gb gpu and dual core with 4g ram. Something has to sacrifice.

      ***** How about that retro lamp behind them? And the fucking wood paneling. These guys are literally in a living room that you might have been sitting in during the mid 80's. That television better be a giant wooden CRT that sits on the floor! Now that I've said all that...I have to kinda agree with you. Lol.

      +frozenaorta It's Ryan's basement. Sometimes they will spin the camera around during a live stream, and you can see that for some reason they rebuilt part of Ryan's basement to make it look like an office space :P

    • @Inaluogh
      @Inaluogh 7 лет назад +1

      I'm on the last stage myself. Also great thing about Cinemassacre is, since they're legit guys, they are not showing you or telling you the cheapest imaginable way to beat it as they've read it from the internet. Everything they do, a gamer with half a sense will also think of. For example, they are using the cross on the Death unlike most of these cheesing boys on the comments section who are looking it up on the internet and using holy water. Seriously folks, if you want to keep your NES experience genuine and real, NEVER look anything up from the internet. Either ask a friend or try harder.

    I grew up with a Game Gear and Mega Drive. I've never played a Castlevania, never even really heard of it until retro gaming became more popular with the advent of youtube. Hell, I played my first ever Mega Man game a couple of years ago at the age of 30. That game was fun but it defeated me.

      Dragorosso95 CV4, but 3 is so close to topping it. CV64 and LoD are next- they're awesome horror themed action adventure games, despite all the haters who haven't even played the game. COTM is also amazing but I need to play it more (could never beat Drac)
