I definitely remember watching the old Ford video when it came out. I was one of those 10k lol
5) Boomer cringe. LOL
4) Seems fine
3) Seems too gimmicky like a pyramid 1000 watt EQ. But I like that kind of cringe. Seems Fine.
2) I actually saw that one. I had a head unit CD player just like that but without the cassette portion.
1) Seems more like car content instead of stereo content. But that's fine with me.
You have kinda gained the reputation as being the amp dyno guy. If I am looking into buying a specific amp, I look to see it you dyno tested it. I can't be the only one who thinks this way. BTW, I have been subbed to you with one or more of my channels since around 2012.
They all seem to have algorithm issues. I enjoy all the content. Travesty the Ford does not have a system.
im more into testing to see the difference between stated and actual results 🤷♂️ this is in my top 5 youtube channels, maybe top 3
Thank you so much for watching! I had 4 amps fail on me last week so I had do dig up some previous content, but no worries, I have a ton of testing vids upcoming!
@@wal you are doing a great service, even if some are no longer made, it shines a light on corporations truthfulness, and it helps making informed decisions...good on you bigd 👍👍
@@walI'm interested in the fails, I've bought two amps after watching your dynos and they've been great so far. But if a amp taps out after testing it as you do every other amp it's still a very informative interesting video for us viewers. Keep up the great work not many guys out here putting out quality consistently.
I always wanted to buy a hearse and build a subwoofer box out of an actual coffin, I thought that would be pretty amazing. Especially if you could slide it out and have it stand and open up on some hydraulic or linear actuators. Never did buy one though.
Man what a throwback. First head unit I bought, gonna date myself here as a kid, I was a senior in high school and went down to the local stereo shop, Santa Fe Auto Sound (which unbelievably is still in business today!) and fell in love with the Kenwood eXcelon MASK units... picked out the KDC-X815 which was an outstanding unit. Upon power off, the face plate would turn around backwards making it look blank.. or you could even remove the faceplate from the unit before it folded all the way around. Still have that head unit today, in a box in my basement. Sadly about 25 years ago, the ribbon cable that went from the main board to the faceplate cracked from wear and it no longer works. Big bummer given how amazing that unit was.
I never got the notifications for those. If I get a notification I watch the vid, been that way for years
I wish I controlled that, but a small percentage of subscribers who have asked to receive notifications actually receive them. Then, based on them clicking or not, it may or may not go out to other subscribers. Very frustrating
For some reason i was in love with those Cambridge when I was a kid.
I like all your videos. I didn't see any of these or I would have watched them. They're informative and entertaining in their own way so keep making them.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
As far as I know. Once I came across the first video. I went through and binged most of your videos. Maybe all of them.
I appreciate you watching and the feedback as well
I had that Optimus Cd player in High School it was my first cd player. Had it mounted under the dash of my Nova.
...I loved the Bass coffin...I saw all those videos..I loved all those videos....I look forward to your videos every week, especially the old school stuff...You da man Big D
The coffin build was down right impressive!! I love those old Fosgate subwoofers the power and power dvc series. I still have one power dvc 15 model RFR2215 and four of the power dvc 12 inch model RFR2212 beautifully crafted subwoofers!
I came across your channel maybe 2 years ago. Really like your content on the amp Dyno’s. Thanks for your videos
That Sony demo CD. There were a few different ones over the years and I loved them
I like the 32 ford and old head units and all the other stuff you posted/tested. Keep them coming bro.
Wow - the bass coffin Tomb of Boom is one of my favorites - I even bought a shirt. I never saw the Sony video. I'll find it now - I had that same setup for a few years in a few different cars. As I recall, it had no internal amp and that's why we have a series vii HiFonics 4ch in the collection.
Cool! I had the Optimus CD player in my 1985 Ford Ranger the year it was released. Along with my Pioneer Super Tuner 3 cassette deck, Pioneer TS-TRX 80's (twin 8" sub boxes) behind the seat, Pioneer 3.5" 's in the dash, all running through a Crap-tastic "Roadmaster" EQ/Booster w/ spectrum L.E.D.'s blinking like crazy !!!
I thought i was the Sh_t back then at 16y/o !!! Didn't know how good i had it back then! Wish i had taken a pic, all i have is memories now. Thank You ! & R.I.P. Mom ! You made that the best time of my young life & i am so grateful for everything my parents did for me! Miss yall & love u 4 ever!
The coffin is one of my favorite videos. I bought a coffin to set up a stereo in similar to what you did. I’m going to use Cerwin Vega including a 15” Stroker.
Enjoying your channel since some time from Spain in Europe, cheers!!!
I did miss all except the coffin case. Which turned out to be an amazing piece for a man-cave or the like. Well done!
Now I’ll go watch the Cambridge porta-hi-fi 👍
I enjoy all your videos. I'm a bass head, vintage hifi nut, I collect tube Era magnavox radios and a im a gear head that likes all kinds of rides but ford's are my sweet spot. I actually modified my 79 f150 radio to have Bluetooth and it feeds a small soundstream amp its very loud for what it is. Even over my supercharged 460 lol. So ya man your vids are great and much appreciated. I wouldn't worry too much bro.
I like the old tires but it looks good with the new ones!!! I'm a fan of the Ford and I'll never forgive myself for missing the video. I'm sorry! Lol
I only saw the coffin vid which I thought was super fun. That Sony CD player was my first one too so I definitely would have watched it!
watched every new video for years but I never seen or heard of the Coffin, The Chevy Astro or The Cambridge. I have seen the videos about the Optimus and the 1937 Ford. IDK what all that means but there it is.
I liked the coffin, keep up the good work! At 67 I find them both funny and unique.
I remember the coffin vid, you tube advertised the hell out of it i guess u could say, but most people i talked to just didn't care for any coffin related stuff. The bass van i never saw or heard of in any way. The Cambridge video i don't remember other then i had those speakers about 20ish years ago. A friend of mine gave them to me and they sounded great. The sony video, never knew anything about. The old school car video i remember seeing alot of and enjoyed it. I like cars and appreciated that 1 being a bit different from your normal post. Hope all this helps ya figure out the youtube problems. I know they can be hit or miss sometimes.
Ronnie Pruitt definitely a good guy gives back to the community and gives kids the opportunity to experience what we love with his progam..
Love the rims on the ford
RUclips didn't present the Coffin build video to me until about 3 or 4 weeks ago. The rest have never been in my feed. Which is silly because I watch pretty much every one of your videos when they pop up. Especially sad because I love the Ford!
I actively searched for the coffin video after hearing about it on the kicker channel….
RUclips definitely kept it from us
Bummer! I’ve considered doing another similar project with another old school brand but we’ll see
The coffin vid is still one of your best.
I sure thought it would be more popular, but with RUclips you just never know
I don't think that's your fault Derek. I don't think that video got pushed out I never saw it. I really dig it cuz I remember installing in that era. Love the flexstone! Always wanted a power 300!
Went linear power back in the day instead
That thing turned out amazing I would have loved to see that coffin. Never ended up making it in my feed 🤷
Great show my Friend
Personally, I like all them videos!!!! It gives us an insight into what you find interesting and cool. Definitely think that some people may not want to see them, and like the song, that’s their prerogative. Keep doing what you’re doing brother !!! One thing I’d like to see is where maybe you have a fan bring you something and go through the dynoing and testing with them. Kind of an interactive fan experience thing (after thorough vetting and background checks of course…there be some crazies out there…lol) and they get a deeper glimpse into big D and even maybe a visit from Mr Riculous….lol
I remember the coffin episode. I loved it and still want to do one. I probably had 5 or so views on that one
i have never seen those videos , looks interesting to me , love car audio and old cars, will definately make some time to check those videos out. i like all the videos , my favorite videos are the old school brands you dont see much but still do a great job . Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work
I watched the video of the bass coffin and I liked it. I thought it was pretty cool.
Hell brother I look forward to ur videos keep up the good work
I bet you are a hit at the Halloween parties. Pretty cool!
La Culpa es del algoritmo, porque yo no me pierdo ninguno de tus videos Big D Wiz! Puedes ver que siempre te dejo mi like! Saludos desde Colombia!
You seem very knowledgeable, and I know little when it comes to car audio. I recently got Two 12 inch Kicker CompVR 2ohm subs in the Kicker ported box. I was wondering if you could suggest some good amps that would work well with thesr subs??? Thanks
Love the Ford Fordoor! I would like to see a Sound Quality system. The new shoes look great!
Thanks!
Loved this!!! I had an idea that I know everyone thought of when they saw it on the channel… Rockford T-15kW amp dyno. 😅 I think everyone in the whole realm of car audio wants to know. The question isn’t whether it’ll do its rated power or not, but rather how much more than it’s rated power will it do 🙂
Bro I really enjoy your stuff. I still have some old audiobahn 12s and amp. 93 roadmaster estate wagon, bump bump
I had that Optimus cd player.
I sure haven’t seen either of these! I’m about to put them in rotation now 😎🍿
Ive seen 4 out of the 5. That tomb of boom video was awesome.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
0:50 this is the first time I've seen this. I like the project. I called a subwoofer box a coffin before. This guy had multiple subs in a long box with the back seats taken out of his SUV. He seemed insulted. Lololol
Loved the video
I loved the ⚰️ video. I’ve actually watched it a couple times. Still watching haha
Hi, how you doing Derick 👋✌️, my name is Jose Manuel bracamontes from Fairfield California , and i love your videos and all the content you upload , i love to see the guts of the amplifiers just to see how powerful and beautiful they are, i always used to open the amplifiers when I was young lol, nice work you do and im sure that you enjoy it, take care.👍
I’d like to see amp and subwoofer testing videos
Bummed people didn't dig on the car. But, I always specifically watch for amp reviews. I like the new amp reviews, but I really like the old amp reviews. Guess I'm "old school". I like your car, and don't go too big on the wheels, too big just looks silly. Every car has its best look for its fenders. IMO, most people go "a size or two too big". I used to think 22' was absolutely too big for ALL applications. Guess I've gave way to "that might actually look good". I still love my old wheels. And damn, gotta pay for the correct tires for those.
I'm a long time subscriber and I have no idea of these cool videos existed.....maybe is the RUclips algorithms
Man I had that same Sony tape deck 1/2 din add on but it was with the CDX R77 Sony CD deck you showed right before that. Did you end up my old setup from like 1995? That's crazy 😂
Brother I love the old Ford but on your carb swap something a lot of people don't get right when using the style of carb you have is they are way different than a Holley or Q-jet of about the same 600 cfm rating. On an average mild street sbc the appropriate Edelbrock carb would be a 750 or 800 cfm . And a 600 cfm will function and seem fine but if you do the math it will show you are running lean in upper RPMs and that is robbing you of power and efficiency and in reality risking possible damage to your motor. Love your channel and if you have the opportunity please do more on the Furniture amps and Philips Sound Labs stuff
If you are going to cover tape deck head units, you gotta cover Clarion Pro Audio ARX9270. Sold more of those with a CD changer because of the display that the CD model was smaller.
That coffin video was pretty cool the cd players I can see why some don't like that to most people its boring but I really liked it big d
Would love to see you test the Atoto CA-AEC02 amplifier.
Atoto have had some super popular low-cost Android head units that are good value OEM replacements, but are their amps any good?
They are designed to attach to the back of the head unit for ease of install, interested to see what mine is really pushing out! Seems to be fine for the cost to boost output of a couple of speakers in a budget setup.
Thanks for the suggestion 👌
All the videos were good. The hell with their algorithm.
Brother, I can totally relate. the stuff that goes big is hit and miss. on my old channel my biggest video was how to give a cat a bath, got over a mil views. never understood why. neway, youve kinda sold yourself as the amp dyno guy, so people expect that type of video. no matter how awesome a video you make about a killer coffin stereo, your people are looking for amp dyno's. i mean lets say you sat down to watch a football game, and instead, a movie about monsters came on..BEST MONSTER MOVIE EVER! but it wasnt a football game...so you change the channel hunting your football game.
but I watch em all, and love that coffin build!
It's a great comparison and makes sense. I guess I'll just have to do the alternative stuff over on my other channel Old School Stereo
Please Review the Stinger 600.4 1000W amp
Will you be reviewing the new down4sounds MM3000kfd and jp 1.2z3?
Yessir they have many new amps coming out so I'll be checking them out over the next couple of months
I'm always watching your videos for a long while now Derek and your right these videos I haven't seen yet. I know and see why or how RUclips works now. Views of videos do matter. That's just crazy with what RUclips does these days.
RUclips makes money from views so if they have any indication people are not interested or stop watching, then the videos are not shared...even with those who asked to be notified
Thanks.
Thanks for watching and commenting!
Just started the video, and I must say that the coffin was badass
Thanks! I really thought that one would gain more attention but maybe I put too much into the back story and such....but I felt like overall it needed the history plus the build process. For those who missed that video, you can see it here: ruclips.net/video/wCfc9N-bcZ4/видео.html
I saw the coffin video, and it was my favorite video on the channel actually. Not sure what happened there.
Yt has slimeball movements with creators... no matter what, even if the video isn't for me, i still play it and leave a comment with thumbs up... i wish you nothing but the best.. and try to do that just to push the slimeball back..
It's the least i can do to show some support.. i hope anyone reading this does the same..
Awesome vids but I'd wish you'd test out memphis amps aswell
Can anyone please fill me in on what ZSTAT woofers are? Are they any good? My local car audio shop is floor to ceiling ZSTAT stuff. I went in there expecting to see Kicker Rockfords CV Alpine etc.... but no they were really pushing me to get these mystery speakers.
Ìv actually watched every video in this video I guess I'm old school 👍✌️😉
Well I missed the coffin video. I'll have to go back and check it out 2:17
The coffin ⚰ is cool ..but kinda creeps me out!!
Ok bigD longtime sub here I'll try to give feedback as constructively as I can.
5 Coffin system- SUPER cool setup and I do remember clicking on it but doubt I watched more than a couple minutes. I'm not into Halloween/spooky stuff and while I do have respect for RF it's just not my brand.
4 I am more of an SQ guy, I don't have much interest in peak db scores, and even less interest in vehicles that don't necessarily function as they were originally designed.
3 the Cambridge suitcase thing is cool. I remember watching that one and I'll watch it again.
2 Sony & Optimus CD players- long story short CDs don't really hold much nostalgia for me. I had alot of tapes. Then minidisc. I bought CDs from '94 until I got Internet access around '05. I would not have clicked on this video and I am now kicking myself because the halfdin tape deck is SUPER COOL I will definitely be rewatching this one.
1 Ford streetrod. Cool car, I do remember watching the video but yeah way off topic for your channel. I'm pretty sure I commented asking if you were going to use it as a test/ demo vehicle and that still stands. Permanent mount some terminal blocks in the trunk for amps/speakers, build a rear deck baffle that you can quick change speakers, and a box that you can change baffle to fit different subs. Same thing at the dash- some terminal blocks for hooking up EQ/ boosters as well as a permanent mounted "test standard" head unit. Obviously you can't do SPL/doitbumpdoe in this vehicle but for the second channel where you test all the old flea market and other oddball stuff it's a no brainer as a demo vehicle.
Extra fosgate frequency enhancer
I vaguely remember watching part of this one but yeah probably stopped if the sound was muted.
Great work big D keep doin yo thang
Thanks a lot for the feedback!!
I really like your videos, but it will be cool if you add old school stereos reviews.
I split off some of the old school content to my other channel - ruclips.net/channel/UCgz8QirXKO5EPWH6sV-hKlw
I never saw the coffin video and I've been watching you for years. Wtf
I never saw any of these or got notifications for any of them. RUclips wild
here it is - ruclips.net/video/wCfc9N-bcZ4/видео.html
If you are cruising the small side wall is fine. No need for performance tires. And put some sound in that beast!
I don't get it maybe it has something todo with age cuz I liked and watched all those vidja's esp the car one which love her new shoes the only suggestion I'd give is maybe next set of tires on the rear that you try an inch taller size tire to give the sidewall a lil more meat it'll give alot smoother ride.. I had some 35 or 40's series tires on the rear of my '48 ford and man I was sure glad when I went with a slightly taller sidewall 50's series tire it was so much soother and quieter inside makin the Sunday cruises so much better to do
My interest are mainly in five channel amps. I'm not a competition system fan.
5:09 how does a powered EQ work with a passive EQ? Are you using hi/low level adapters? That is a first for me.
Whoever wired the Ford originally with this crazy stereo setup had no idea how it all worked. It wasn't working when I got the car and I have no idea what they had in mind
@@wal It looks really cool though! Straight out of the 90’s
❤
I think it's some problem. But some of my didn't get a notification page ever notification?I get from you a watch
I did not know you had a video of the old Ford
I haven't shown it much because 1) haven't had much chance to work on the interior/stereo and 2) doesn't seem to be much interest from viewers
@@wal Kinda odd imo as most car guys i know are into audio as well. Sweet ride btw..
i missed the rockville 18" in home theater setting.
That's the Skar 18's and this is still in progress
I watched the coffin video 🤷♂️ Don't remember the portable stereo or most of the other stuff being recommended to me. I urge people to check all their fav channels directly every couple days, YT recommended feed seems pretty broken most of the time.
I've been contemplating doing a weekly newsletter where people can subscribe to this and I'll send out updates including the weekly video(s), tips and more. This way I would control the notifications and not rely on RUclips
I still want to see a top 10 of best dollar per watt, efficiency etc.
I will put this one on the radar, agreed it is needed
5 I definitely watched, 4 & 3 algorithm must've hid because I definitely would have watched, 2 I probably skipped because I don't have interest in old decks, 1 algorithm must've hid as well.
So weird about the bass coffin because for almost 30 years ive been telling friends i want to buy an old Hearse and add a coffin with 3 12s.
d4s would have sold me a JP1.2z3 if i saw you test it.......
A lot of it has to do with key words and then how your description is written. Also adding hashtags seems to help. But I have nothing to show just my research as I’m beginning the fall into the hole with RC stuff.
Was just talking about the ⚰ video last week. I think it was UTUBE
Memorial Jr High
Mr. McDade's IROCZ
Big d i hope this video does better than the others, but im curious to see how people respond to this one as well
Not very good thus far, but that's ok. I'll keep proceeding forth with more content. Take the losses and the wins
@@wal yes sir. Can't win em all. Keep up the good work
Never saw the car update. Lower it a little!!!!
You need to DUMP your Fordoor Big D... New wheels are Slick, cept for the tire/fender gap Bub... All in all, keep doing what your doing Brother...
Period correct stereo for the ford…
Ha! 1937 stereo? 🤣
Have not disliked any of them
as the old saying goes... "you can please some of the people some of the time... but... you can't please all of the people all of the time.
Wow a video about 5 crappy videos... how entertaining and enlightening
I don't remember any of these videos, and I'll probably go check a few of them, but the SPL van is definitely a skip for me. Not saying you shouldn't video them, if you like them, but it's not for me.
smaller hubs with thicker tires looks better by a lot, poor girl needs better shoes.
put a proper sound system that's also light enough to be removable with quick disconnects into your cool car, i bet people would enjoy that.
