Yo big I have a real old school Rockford fosgate 12 it’s says tha punch on it would you do a trade on another 12inch sub I think you would like it old maybe late 80s or early 90s I would trade you for any 12 inch sub lmk
@@gags730 my first several cd players didn’t play MP3’s at all. I used to have a switch in the center console to switch from the head unit to a laptop.
Put one of those puppies in a Jeep Liberty budget system for my nephew. Actually sounded great, to my surprise. Total cost of around a hunnerd bucks. Used Kenwood amp and MTX 12" subs for $40, Dynavox 6.5" woofers were $11/each, 2.75" fullrange Visiton at $12 a copy and cheap 8awg amp wiring kit for $10 and some passive filter components totalling $15. We were blown away how good it sounded. It took me many attempts 'till I had a system that sounded that good when I was a kid. Budget audio systems can be alot of fun.
In 1977, this system by Alpine, Fosgate, with powered sub and active crossover... was more like $1200 to $1500.. If this deck is just average clean (1% is a high and increases the chance of speaker damage, well it did 45 years ago) But the RCA OUTPUTS at .012% distortion is EXCELLENT for 10 times the price.
Yeah, I wasted a decent amount of money on flea market type amps as a kid before I got a used 90 or 120W fosgate amp for free from a friend. I tried it and it blew away all the "500 and 1000w" amps I had bought before, I was wasting $100+ on each one rather than ponying up for a proper amp. These days cheap stuff is much more capable. Semiconductors have come a long way.
That reminds me i also had a set of the dual plain black plastic cone 10 inch subs in the light gray with white fibers carpeting odd shaped sub bandpass box and it had the light blue neon speaker ring tubes . I had forgotten about that one when i mentioned most of the dual electronics products I've owned because i didn't keep it long i had got it used at a yard sale for my ex girlfriend and when we split up i gave it to her.
@@lancestrahm2362 I picked up a plow truck and it has an aftermarket radio in it, I was saying "please don't be blue!" And thankfully it's old enough to be white, almost like it's backlit by incandescent lamps or nice warm white LED's.
@@volvo09 Unfortunately my dumbass rebuilt an 89 mustang gt few years ago and decided all the gauges and aftermarket gauges needed blue LED bulbs...major regret 🤣
I don't know how other people feel on here but I would personally be really jazzed about you coming out with more videos dynoing head units. Love the channel man. Keep those companies honest.
@@walappreciate the response. that makes sense. This might be anecdotal but I feel like there can be a pretty big difference in output Even though the rating on the box says they are the same. I have a buddy with an entry level pioneer head unit from a few years ago that's rated 4x50 that he had to crank the volume up on it to get decent sound or of it. I gave him my old pioneer head unit that's a few rungs up the ladder but the same 4x50 rating and he said that the output was a lot better. Totally possible it's placebo but you're the guy with the lie detector who can prove it. I think there may also be a market to explore in Android head units from China. Amazon has quite a few options but they're all over ali express and temu. I know the head unit I picked up has some surprising output from its tda7850 chip Even though it's also rated at 4x50. You do you, I'll watch either way. Cheers
I was thinking about Dyno 's also i used to have a Panasonic cq-df44 CD player the faceplate was backlit in light blue, and it had a 3 stage dimmer on it and it was only rated 160watts but that is honestly one of the loudest clean sound output stereos I've had not counting my pioneer deh p3700mp mp3 CD player super tuner III D stereo.
@@danielstillmaker4248 While the output ratings on both head units is the same, your unit that was higher up on the ladder most likely had better sound processing or eq's built in and he was hearing the result of that. An example would be a unit with a 12-band eq vs a unit that just has bass, treble, and high settings. When getting into quality aftermarket head units, most people don't care about their power output, because they wind up using aftermarket amps. It's more about the control features and sound processing capabilities that the head unit has to offer. The downside with aftermarket units nowadays is that it is becoming increasingly more and more difficult to replace head units in newer cars because they already have sizable screens features built in, some have screens and factory amps in separate locations, and some cars have so much more going through the head unit than just music. Most people will just swap the speakers, add in amplifiers and DSP to get better/louder sound, and retain the stock head units. In terms of the Android units from China, you get what you pay for. I have a $700 Sony Android unit in my Yukon that has been flawless for 6 years. I just update the firmware whenever one comes out. My friend put one of those cheap 10-inch Amazon Android units in his car and wound up taking it out and returning it two days later.
I installed one of these Walmart head units in a DIN sized hole that I cut into the front of a plastic tool box, along with two cheap 6.5 inch coax speakers. I then hot glued the 12V battery from a battery backup unit (like for a computer) with a battery charging cube. Now I have a portable, app controlled radio to use when we sit around the fire pit in the back yard.
get power supply from pc it has 12 volt for radio but 120 ac for outlet no need for battery when using at home or garage or patio. it will fit inside area about size of that battery or motorcyle battery and can use 120 ac outlet
I've had one of these (Dual XDM17BT) in a boat for about 2 years and its still going. Face plate is faded a little but its still working good and nothing is more harsh on a radio then being in a boat
A guy at the job installed this set up inside a metal toolbox from the same store. He has a laptop power supply powering it. For what it is, it is loud enough in the shop to have gotten wrote up a couple times. 😆
I could see people buying the head unit + speakers combo to make a cheap BT boombox. Just add some lithium batteries and a USB charging board and you're good to go for cheap.
I'd swap the amp for 3$ TPA3110 for same power but at massively better efficiency Tbh I have no idea why they wouldnt use class D in the first place... Class AB is far more expensive than same power level class D class D performs the same by now
One thing I'd like to point out about having the app. Where I see that being a awesome option is having a head unit like this in a hidden install, like in a classic car. Control via the app (when parked, or have your passenger do it of course.)
They really are. I've owned quite a few of their products (subs, speakers, HU and amps) and was never mad at the performance. The only weird thing I had happened was on a CD player I had in a car back in like 2002, for some reason once the volume went over 10 on the display, the output jumped significantly higher for some odd reason. I mean, it wasn't atrocious, but definitely was there.
Carl Jr that was the single din that looks like the silver version of the Jenson x3010 and the 2010 CD players right,i had the x3010 but it didn't do that only because the rear speaker channels were blown the radio got wired up wrong by my best friend when he was drinking so yeah,he gave it to me and it was a new stereo, anyway he gave it to me since i installed a newer pioneer deh 17 i had that worked great in his 93 Ford mustang LX factory amplifier car. And i had the silver face Jenson CD player i was referring to mine lit up in red but it would be fine til about volume 10 gradually going up in volume everything after 10 was a jump all the way to like volume 30, i put up with it for about 6 months and it gets old and i pulled it out of my 86 Buick Regal Factory V8 Sport Coupe Oldsmobile roller cam 307 V8 car with the Factory steel chrome on black centers magnum 500 rally wheels, and i installed a newer Panasonic cq-df44 CD player that lit up in blue and had a 3 stage dimmer, came out in 1999
@@richardbates2367 It sounds like we're talking about the same unit, for sure. The Dual I had, if I remember right, actually had a knob. A huge one right in the middle. I may be thinking of a different radio though. I've been through so many through the years it's hard to keep track.
@2:50 - AM radio guy here. I don't listen to the local FM stations. It's either AM, a CD or a mix cassette. Yes, our 08 Lexus and 04 Lexus both still have working cassette decks from the factory.
I’ve been laughed at many times when I tell people that auxiliary input has the capability to perform better than usb or Bluetooth depending on the DAC in the head unit and the source being fed into the auxiliary port. I’ve had people literally call me an idiot for saying it , because it’s almost never the case because nearly all head units have an adequate DAC , but in extreme situations like this , it’s absolutely true.
True, but most new head units (or phones) don’t have the “headphone jacks” anymore. I hate that! Avoiding the need for MP3 decoding removes the chances of cheap components ruining sound quality and just generally makes things simpler if you can just pump pure sound signal into an amplifier. To me, most Bluetooth in a car stereo sounds about like AM radio signal quality. USB is about as good as it gets these days (not really bad at all) and, honestly, any loss in sound quality is still worth it to me over CDs or cassettes of the past. As long as you have your phone and some data signal, at least you can always find something good to listen to.
@@brianandrews7099 Aww, its better than AM, and even FM. I bet the phone matters and what kind of sound processor it has. Id take a 4 year old Galaxy S phone over any wal mart cheap phone. Still running an S10e. Sounds pretty decent over BT, but yeah, AUX is better.
Have one. Had some extra 6x9s sitting in the garage and use this unit in a wood box powered by a power supply from old computer. Perfect for this setting.
I have the version of that radio from I guess 5 or so years ago. Honestly the thing works fine. Came with an IR remote, sounds fine for my old pickup and the Bluetooth interface with my phone is fine. It was like 40 bucks when I bought it. Looks like this one is even more shallow than mine. Mine is just a tiny bit deeper than the sleeve.
I have the xpr series 82d amplifier, had the first series of their 6x9's that were orange cone, the dual mp3 CD player and speaker Walmart exclusive combo i think around 2006 u66 something is the part number, the dual 279xbt, double din stereo and the xdvd770bt DVD/mp3 CD player stereo and that the 279bt, and the xpr series 82d amplifier which that one is new in the box haven't used it yet but i still have those three dual electronics products.
The xdvd770bt is the receiver with the built-in front face mic, and the first version of the DVD player it's got i think a 4.5 inch LCD screen and that is kinda impressive when you realize that is a a single din stereo

Got this same exact one with 4 speakers from Walmart for 35.00 a year ago. Installed head unit and all 4 speakers in a 5 gallon square cat litter bucket, LoL. Use it at the beach. Gotta admit it's alot better than any Bluetooth portable radio out there. Probably 80$ total for build, including the 12 volt battery.
AM is actually required to be included in factory vehicles via US law. The reason being is emergency services. There’s an AM station for state highway conditions. An AM station runs on 5,000 watts to run its 10KHz bandwidth at full power. FM requires 100,000 watts to run its 200khz bandwidth at the same power. So AM can easily be run on generator power during a blackout blizzard. It’s only being recently challenged by Tesla, because high output electric motors cause a ton of interference. All that being said, I think the radio just includes AM because it’s another feature they can advertise.
if you hold down the middle button. or go through the menu options.. of the radio. like on bluetooth and aux it has a gain control in it.. for each thing. including the FM radio. i think it requires you to hold down the volume button. for a few seconds
I was running a Sony xplod cdxL600x black faceplate CD player and i updated it to one of the better pioneer deh headunits in my opinion the dehp3700mp mp3 CD player super tuner III D stereo and i would have fully installed it in my 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab long bed 1500 4x4 except for the fact that I've managed to lose my install cage sleeve for mounting the radio in the dash, so it just lays in the cubby hole dodge intended for the factory Chrysler stereo to go.. it came out in 2005
One big thing to also consider with aftermarket head units, especially if youre in a top 40 market is HD radio support. I've upgraded to units that have it and i personally wouldn't look back.
This is cool stuff. Super cheap device that not a lot of us will purchase but some will. Real world information that helps to keep us knowledgeable. Hopefully the manufacturers also referenced this so they have an idea of how their product is viewed. Thanks for more cool content @Wiliston Audio Labs
Ah yess the FLAC audio connoisseur purchasing a $25 head unit 😂 Wow that is a shallow mounting depth! You can pair this with a micro amplifier and mount them both in the dash.
I know someone who did that but the boss audio version with the blue LEDs in the faceplate, and he said he had traded around and got a mini amplifier the silver Kenwood version that is barely bigger than a motorcycle license plate and put them in the dash of a 1995 Cadillac Seville SLS it may have been a DeVille not much of a fan of caddy myself anyway, and i was like do you realize that you just put a amplifier and speakers that cost 3x what your stereo does and you installed it in a $35 install kit for the caddy dash that cost more than the radio it mounts lol that is too funny...
He installed infinity reference black with the copper trim speakers in every factory speaker location in the car, honestly stereo sounded good...I'm just more a fan of dual electronics products than i am boss audio products I've been burned by more than one Boss audio product so i don't always get them..
I bought two of these to put in my two cheap junker cars, just to have reliable bluetooth for my radio. They were 15 bucks each back when i bought them and they work perfectly. No problems connecting with bluetooth, decent audio quality, and a decent looking interface. Not much more i could ask for with that price.
I put this head unit in my truck as a temporary solution until I get a touch screen unit. I’m very impressed. Less distortion at full volume and close to full volume than even some name brand head units I’ve used in the past.
Great review! I have the previous slim model Dual and it works great on my boat. The low/mid/high adjustments are atrocious but it fits and decent for $20. I also tried a cheap touchscreen and the dual slim was night and day better.
The issue with these is durability. They’ve worked great for me but eventually something burns out, solder joints break, etc. But they’re so cheap you can just get another!
I put one of these in my 1991 Chevrolet caprice, because the radio that the prev. Owner put in it, went out. The head unit was impressively good, Bluetooth connects easily, and it improved the sound through the stock speakers!
! Same stereo as the XDM16BT Over 3 years ago, only changes are the Face design and the app control! But Overall a Great Basic Radio with USB and Bluetooth capability for the price. Although you may need to press the reset button once or twice due to weird function after trying Bluetooth Calling for the first one or two times but then it works flawlessly! I think It's the same stereo inside that is sold under the JBL brand with a different Face! Could be wrong but it does seem like it. Lasted for over 3 Years now! The Blaupunkpt didn't so Build wise it wins for the price!
Installed one of these in a 97 Acura CL with the Bose system. For 27 year old speakers and a $20 stereo, this thing is pretty good and worth the price. This car became my younger brothers first car yesterday and he's loving it 🔥
Great video. Great starter on a low budget, maybe get some younger generation interested in car stereo because they can afford it. I have Dual brand amps that were super cheap , work good , and actually have CEA rated RMS ratings on the back of the amp . THANKS for the video.
I have the Dual XDM16BT from a couple years back. It was about $18 when I purchased it. Has 4 RCA outs, the 10 amp fuse is made into the rear of the unit and the chassis is a bit deeper at about 5.5 inches. Couldn't get mine to distort at all on the DD-1 using the USB as the source. They're good for test benches and maybe off road side x side four wheelers.
2:46 i do especially if its an old time radio show, but its mainly to band scan to see how far a MW/AM station i can pick up depending on atmospheric conditions. there's quite a few that still listens to MW/AM. and i also scan around on shortwave just to hear pirates and odd signals. What kind of measurements are they using to come to 50w per channel, they have to be jist pulling numbers out of the air or something.
The last job I had I installed like 5 of these exact head units in semi trucks. They seem to work good radio comes in clear and they have been installed for at least a year and still going strong.
After the third Blaupunkt failed (luckily it was so fast they were all in the 90 day return window), I got one of these for my golf cart, and so far, knock on wood, it's been fine.
I have the previous version...... went from my personal truck to work ( 2 different school buses), and is still going after about 7 years. No complaints about longevity here. Display is getting dim, but for 20 bucks, money well spent.
I stumbled onto your channel at random. I used to work at a stereo shop in ND in the mid nineties. My boss whose name was Don lived in Williston, ND and owned the shop called Stereo West (one in Williston and one in Minot). You sound much like him....I thought you were him...but then, he'd be really old by now. Stereo West got bought out by Pacific Sound.
Kind of surprised that YD7389 didn't explode when tested on 2 Ohms. I Have one of the $20 Dual radios from about 5 years ago in my closet and the YD chip has a hole blasted in it. I Believe the YD clips lack thermal protection aswell but i haven't tested one lately
I have the last version that was 16 bucks at Walmart , I have 3 of them , only issue I had was the fade had to be all the way back to use the rcas when running multi amps …. I still have one in my truck that I run bluetooth with …
I have the older model in my car. If you play music at full volume for a while, the radio does not shut off with they key until it cools off. Besides that, works great.
I have one of these in my old pickup and in our family cabin. I got the set with speakers on clearance for less than $20 after Christmas a couple years ago. For the price, and where they're used they are actually quite adequate.
I noticed you said the output seemed low. Would you try hooking this up again like was done here and try swapping the + - on one of the channels and see if the output comes up. Let us know if you notice anything different 😊 I'm very very curious 🤔!!
I got like three of these. All years apart but definitely held up pretty good and quality has gone up since my first that's been in three cars. Unfortunately the antenna plug broke on it. Another one that's currently in my daily survived a head on collision a few years ago and is still powering subwoofers. They give me less headache than a pioneer and Kenwood I bought as well as my buddies Alpine.
I used 4 of the Blaupunkt stereos to make my own Bluetooth speakers. Got some tweeters and full range speakers from Parts Express. They're still going strong today!
Now I could definitely use one of those adapter purposes. But I've got 12 V power supplies. That can couldn't support up to 15 amps I think with some good speakers and a well built speaker box. This head unit would be perfect for a home speaker system build. You could even put in a charging system and a large 12 volt battery To take it on the go.
That's exactly what i had planned on doing to the 400watt sondpex full range speaker box i got from AutoZone a couple of years ago after i changed the speakers with the pyramid the original x65 300 watt 6 1/2 inch driver woofers and drastically improved the sound of the box and it became the rear speakers in the early 94 Chevy Z71 Silverado extended cab short bed truck i had because the rear factory speakers are blown
These are way better than the factory systems of even 10 years ago. We out them in our semi trucks to replace the garbage Freightliner head unit they came with. Way more amp, clearer sound, and bluetooth built in. Its not audiophile quality by any means, but its a massive improvement for a commercial application.
I drive a 97 Chevy k1500 and purposely sought out the factory radio for it for restoring purposes. It has a KILLER cassette deck with Dolby and auto-seek and when you put factory cassettes in it, they sound nearly identical to CDs. It also has a CD player and my CDs sound a hundred times better than the aftermarket Bluetooth devices (fm transmitter, Bluetooth cassette, etc..) all of them! I just put new speakers in and, to me, it’s worth it to keep buying CDs, they just sound so clean!
I still got the Blaupunkt in my racecar...screen died the first week but it still works. I just need basic bluetooth to be able to listen to something while heading to events. However the 10watts struggle to run my Morel Maximo 5s especially with the windows down.
Can you test one of the blutooth..atv, marine etc etc.. style soon, they are usually round and fit in a gauge pod what not..sometimes they are small rectangular too…im sure youve seen them on ebay or amazon….the come really cheap priced upto a couple hundred for the supposedly nicer ones…i was thinking just test a $40/$80 unit…that would be cool…i actually have that blaupunkt unit u tested awhile back on my motorcycle and it works great after i paired it with one of those tiny taramps units….keep bringing the great videos big homie….you RULE!!!…..by far my favorite audio channel on YT hands down
Tried cheap Dual radios years ago. They usually lasted about six to nine months then stopped working. Yes, they had a warranty but that doesn’t cover the inconvenience of getting it replaced and removing and reinstalling a new one. I stick to Pioneer and Kenwood now. Yes, more money but you get what you play for.
Man those 6.5's must be super cheap for 4 of them to only add $10 total. I've seen some commenters say this is on clearance at their local WM with speakers for $25!
I got one of these to make a custom clock radio for travel. Going to use a cheap digital alarm clock and wire a relay to the buzzer output. Planning on making a box with 12v power supply and 3" woofers and a monssoon planar mid/tweeter. Can use for mini stereo on the road. Has Bluetooth so can use my cellphone as well as charge it with the Usb port.Hard to find a decent Am/fm stereo clock radio. Also can biamp the speakers by using front for the planars with a inline capacitor to act as high pass filter and rear for woofers. Can balance output by using fader.
Could be nice put into a custom speakerbox since it's so small, you could make something slim, could be interesting. Boat would be good and it's a cheapie if it gets wet or corroded or whatever pitch it.
Can you do a test on the Pyle PD3000BT Bluetooth 4 Channel Home Theater Preamplifier Stereo Sound System, it has 2 fans on the back from my understanding for the price its actually a good one with a decent Rms range and a peak of 3000 watts , i ordered one just wanted to see your thoughts?
These are perfect for the projects I have in mind. I wanted to build a battery powered sound pyramid for usage outside, etc. The app makes that even better!
i have a couple of the previous version, which was available for $14 back in 2021... bluetooth works strong, sounds good enough. I use them for temporary situations.
15 years ago my dad built up a classic car (lead sled) and the dash had no room for a radio as there was mechanisms behind the dash where a radio would normally go (the sudo AC was a big handle that opened a flap on the outside between the wipers) so I found him a Dual (different model than yours but pretty similar and was like $25) well, hooked it up to a good amp and man I was really surprised at the quality. I put all of his music (50's 60's) on a single SD card that plugged into the head unit and it was great, unit also had a remote.
About the incomplete tests when using the USB stick and Bluetooth; You didn't say if you put an MP3 on the USB stick or a flac, but if it was an MP3, that would explain the dyno not being able to measure distortion correctly and thus not finishing the test. MP3 is a terrible, lossy audio format that has really weird distortions that can thrown a THD analyzer into a tizzy. Same goes for Bluetooth, just not as bad with modern codecs.
My first car still had an 8-track player. The first thing I did was buy the cheapest head unit and speakers at Walmart. I had to install the speakers on the top of a shoebox that sat beside me on the bench seat because they didn't fit in the doors. It played CDs and made the correct sounds...worth the $30 or whatever I paid for it.
Many here mount these things into desktop computers. Using the aux in to connect to the computer. Powered from the pc power supply. Well , output will be less , as its not 14.x volts but only 12v. But they do work , and 2 ohm is absolutely a load they can take.
I tossed an older model of this head unit in my beater XJ back in 2019 just for bluetooth connectivity. I think I paid $18.99 for it. The lil thing is still chugging happily along.
The way when you were moving between speakers with your Elacs tends to suggest they were out of phase. Wether incorrect wiring labelling etc. There was plenty of bass when close to one speaker but zero when in the middle
They used to have a dual for 20. I don't know how many times I've blown someone's mind with how cheaply they can have a working radio! And still make a few bucks on top.
i had the last version of this and the bluetooth died after about a year, hopefully this new one wont die so quick, but cant complain really at the price
This looks about perfect to replace the broken one on my sand rail. At that price I might keep a spare one in the truck for if it dies halfway through the weekend.
It's a no name brand on Amazon that used to sell for 18.00. Horrible sound quality. Would blast volume to max every time u turn on the vehicle. Only saving grace was Bluetooth

Wont lie, thats a pretty good radio for the price of a fast food combo. Im genuinely impressed
Makes me want to cook up a $5 pot of soup and stop over paying for food
cook at home save money!
It'll last alot longer too XD
Nice that it dosen't have eye searing blue led's lighting up the face.
Wish my speakers lit up.
I bought one few years ago exactly like this but it's blue LED lol. So glad they came out with red LED need one for my old farm truck.
The truth is, most head units use the similar 15x4 IC's. A few exceptions including Alpine V-Drive, Sony and a few others
@@wal Test those exceptions! I'm in the market for a double DIN head unit and I'm only interested in the cream of the crop.
@@RT22-pb2pp don't even need to be a full size one, can use a pico PSU. Tiny things, still capable of about 200 to 300 watts
Nice to see a Class AB amplifier still beeing used in even the cheapect car sound systems
I've had one of these (Dual XDM17BT) in a boat for about 2 years and its still going. Face plate is faded a little but its still working good and nothing is more harsh on a radio then being in a boat
That was my question. Have a boss unit in my old truck and the screen got sunburned so bad only half of it works now
A guy at the job installed this set up inside a metal toolbox from the same store. He has a laptop power supply powering it. For what it is, it is loud enough in the shop to have gotten wrote up a couple times. 😆
outstanding.
I could see people buying the head unit + speakers combo to make a cheap BT boombox. Just add some lithium batteries and a USB charging board and you're good to go for cheap.
And...at 9 watts per channel tbose batteries will last!
there's something about a jbl..
I'd swap the amp for 3$ TPA3110 for same power but at massively better efficiency
Tbh I have no idea why they wouldnt use class D in the first place... Class AB is far more expensive than same power level class D class D performs the same by now
One thing I'd like to point out about having the app. Where I see that being a awesome option is having a head unit like this in a hidden install, like in a classic car. Control via the app (when parked, or have your passenger do it of course.)
It's amazing how far we've come in the way of shallow mount head units. Technology is awesome! Dual is actually a decent super budget brand.
@@richardbates2367 After further research I found the model # XD7500
Very stylish CD player on a budget. I kinda wish I still had it.
My auxillary is always better than the wireless blutooth….every time
True, but most new head units (or phones) don’t have the “headphone jacks” anymore. As long as you have your phone and some data signal, at least you can always find something good to listen to.
you can hear the difference.
Its amazing isnt it lol.
Lol me too bro, I had it hooked to an amp in my old apartment, sounds really nice on an amp

I went back and double checked and this does not work with this unit

Thanks for watching and commenting!
Pioneer have been my favorite head units since the early 90’s! 😂
I was running a Sony xplod cdxL600x black faceplate CD player and i updated it to one of the better pioneer deh headunits in my opinion the dehp3700mp mp3 CD player super tuner III D stereo and i would have fully installed it in my 2000 dodge ram laramie slt quad cab long bed 1500 4x4 except for the fact that I've managed to lose my install cage sleeve for mounting the radio in the dash, so it just lays in the cubby hole dodge intended for the factory Chrysler stereo to go.. it came out in 2005
I bought that Dual 4 speaker kit two Black Fridays ago for $30. We ended up using it on the pontoon. Surprisingly works great for that.
One big thing to also consider with aftermarket head units, especially if youre in a top 40 market is HD radio support. I've upgraded to units that have it and i personally wouldn't look back.
I love HD Radio and it’s very supported in Phoenix where I live. Unfortunately I don’t see it supported on many stereos.
Perfect timing! I just bought and installed one of these last week. great to know what's 'under the hood'. Thanks!! Sounds great for 25 bucks!
This is cool stuff. Super cheap device that not a lot of us will purchase but some will. Real world information that helps to keep us knowledgeable. Hopefully the manufacturers also referenced this so they have an idea of how their product is viewed. Thanks for more cool content @Wiliston Audio Labs
Ah yess the FLAC audio connoisseur purchasing a $25 head unit 😂
Wow that is a shallow mounting depth! You can pair this with a micro amplifier and mount them both in the dash.
Hahaha😂
IM SO HAPPY TO HEAR NEW MUSIC ON THIS CHANNEL
That palm sized amp would fit nicely behind that headunit 😂
iPhone’s Bluetooth sometimes has that SoundCheck feature ON that lowers the audio output.
These usually come with the TDA-7388 or the YD-7388 amplifier chip they sound decent maximum power you will get is 41x4 @ 14.4 volts
I put one of them in my daughters power wheel that’s about the only thing its good for besides make a portable 😊Bluetooth radio
😂 Love this!!
You have to pair it with a tiny amp then its just a hair better
Installed one of these in a 97 Acura CL with the Bose system. For 27 year old speakers and a $20 stereo, this thing is pretty good and worth the price. This car became my younger brothers first car yesterday and he's loving it 🔥
Great video. Great starter on a low budget, maybe get some younger generation interested in car stereo because they can afford it. I have Dual brand amps that were super cheap , work good , and actually have CEA rated RMS ratings on the back of the amp . THANKS for the video.
One of those with pre-amp only outputs and decent adjustable 3 band EQ would sell nicely, in my opinion.
I love this head unit!!! I’ve put in at least 5 of these in multiple vehicles and worked great every time
Thank you for the power supply on the radio
@12:06 - You can read the amp chip number in that shot. The lighting was just right for it to pop.
Great treat for Sunday, appreciate you Big D!!
Awesome value
Would have busted windows to get this, back when I was a scrote
I have the last version that was 16 bucks at Walmart , I have 3 of them , only issue I had was the fade had to be all the way back to use the rcas when running multi amps …. I still have one in my truck that I run bluetooth with …
I have the older model in my car. If you play music at full volume for a while, the radio does not shut off with they key until it cools off. Besides that, works great.
If one were to hook it up to a DSP it could work if you would only want it for Bluetooth, volume knob and USB connections?
Great value for pocket change. I have a generic $16 radio in my garage that I've had for over 10 yrs. Still works great!
After installing in my 2004 Trailblazer, I noticed that the back of it heats up quickly. That maybe the understanding of why it may not last long.
These are way better than the factory systems of even 10 years ago. We out them in our semi trucks to replace the garbage Freightliner head unit they came with. Way more amp, clearer sound, and bluetooth built in. Its not audiophile quality by any means, but its a massive improvement for a commercial application.
I installed the Marine Version on our boat and it plays just fine with the matching speakers. Nothing fancy but functional.
Can you test one of the blutooth..atv, marine etc etc.. style soon, they are usually round and fit in a gauge pod what not..sometimes they are small rectangular too…im sure youve seen them on ebay or amazon….the come really cheap priced upto a couple hundred for the supposedly nicer ones…i was thinking just test a $40/$80 unit…that would be cool…i actually have that blaupunkt unit u tested awhile back on my motorcycle and it works great after i paired it with one of those tiny taramps units….keep bringing the great videos big homie….you RULE!!!…..by far my favorite audio channel on YT hands down
Would also like to see a couple of these.
Yes , I too would like to see a few of these
Tried cheap Dual radios years ago. They usually lasted about six to nine months then stopped working. Yes, they had a warranty but that doesn’t cover the inconvenience of getting it replaced and removing and reinstalling a new one. I stick to Pioneer and Kenwood now. Yes, more money but you get what you play for.
This head unit with a couple skar 6.5" loud speakers sound damn good for a boom box
Now I'm really curious what the kit speakers would have sounded like
Man those 6.5's must be super cheap for 4 of them to only add $10 total. I've seen some commenters say this is on clearance at their local WM with speakers for $25!
@@wal that’s what I was thinking!
And wow $25 for the whole kit? That’s just suspicious at that point
On clearance at my local store. With the speakers for 25$
oh snap!
But does the LCD desolder itself when it's hot like the Blaupunkt?
Selling a car ? No radio? Perfect! Now they have tunes👍
I bought the $35 with the 4x6.5 inch speakers. They actually sound ok
I want to see more deck tests with the dyno!!!!
i have a couple of the previous version, which was available for $14 back in 2021... bluetooth works strong, sounds good enough.
I was looking at the name of your channel Williston is that as in Williston florida?
Many here mount these things into desktop computers. Using the aux in to connect to the computer. Powered from the pc power supply.
Well , output will be less , as its not 14.x volts but only 12v.
But they do work , and 2 ohm is absolutely a load they can take.
I hate usb .
Sd-card is the best option.
Not sticking out of the unit
I tossed an older model of this head unit in my beater XJ back in 2019 just for bluetooth connectivity. I think I paid $18.99 for it. The lil thing is still chugging happily along.
Looks like the issue is with the inbuilt pre-amp circuit. The aux in must bypass that, hence why you get a higher figure.
i have a expensive pioneer stereo and i love it only problems is the volume buttons not dial and it freezez in carplay sometimes
The way when you were moving between speakers with your Elacs tends to suggest they were out of phase. Wether incorrect wiring labelling etc. There was plenty of bass when close to one speaker but zero when in the middle
I think they were wired out of phase too listening back on my headphones 🤦♂️
They used to have a dual for 20. I don't know how many times I've blown someone's mind with how cheaply they can have a working radio! And still make a few bucks on top.
How about a budget floating screen 8-10 inch headunit review ? These $1200-$1500 units are just not doable for non competition.
Thanks!
Thanks for the suggestion 👌
Apology for the typos I went back and corrected it. I was up on the roof of my RV listening to this while resealing the roof 😮
i had the last version of this and the bluetooth died after about a year, hopefully this new one wont die so quick, but cant complain really at the price
Stressing the dyno with this unit. Lol. Always good content.

It's a no name brand on Amazon that used to sell for 18.00. Horrible sound quality. Would blast volume to max every time u turn on the vehicle. Only saving grace was Bluetooth
