I just finished Ao and I have to say that Crossbell was just amazing. Incredibly charming cast with a great dynamic which was kinda missing from Sky. The pay off for what Sky and 3rd set up was amazing and if you played Sky then you need to play these games. Start with CS 1 and 2 if you want to, it doesn't change much but after you played sky FC, SC and 3rd you will want to play Crossbell.
I played the Cold Steel games (only 1 and 2) and all the Sky games and just started Zero (in chapter 2 rn). To be honest, I also think the Crossbell games might be the best arc. Mainly because the pacing so far in the game feels the better than the other 2 first games of the other arcs.
Trails In The Sky = Starting as newbie Bracer Zero / Ao = Starting working to Crossbell Police Dept. Trails Of Cold Steel = Starting as Military Student I wonder what is for Calvard or the next Arc???

Geofront's Zero no Kiseki translation is out now, and Ao should be ready in a few months. Their work is 100% top notch, even measured against the standard you'd expect from an official localisation.
im so confused on how to go about playing the translated game? im about half way through trails in the sky sc and want to jump straight into the crossbell arc when finished. do i buy the game off a Japanese game site ? then install a translation? if so, how do i get the translation? im kind of new to the whole pc gaming but i dont want to miss these games
To the newbie fans out there, please, I mean PLEASE, never skip the Crossbell arc, aside from the great story phasing, character build up, and awesome plot twist (no spoilers), this arc, somehow, kinda served as the turning point for the first half of the series, missing it out means you're missing a lot. I got my hands on a copy of fan translation online for the PSP version and played it on my phone via a psp emulation :> I stopped at nothing to at least get a grip on these games, as I feel they play a vital part in the series. I hope you enjoy this arc as much as I did :>

Quite literally a simple google search will pull em up. Zero has an amazing translation done by Geofront that is basically Official level, and Ao has a mediocre translation that’s not bad but not Geofront level.

Haha, I think the cast of characters have the best synergy (compared to sky at least) and compliment each other well. They aren't as interesting if they are alone but when they're together, a lot of fun and touching times.
Sadly I'm a complete noob when it comes to playing on PC and I have no idea how to patch in translations or anything. :( I looked up guides but barely understood anything. I only have a Surface, too, not a real PC. I wish it'd get an official localisation, I really wanna play them...
It's pretty easy... I didn't know how to do it either. And then tried it and it was easy. Just use PPSSPP emulator and read up on it. Would probably only take you a few hours to figure out.
I LOVE the trails but I've always supported the Western English releases. I would LOVE to play the Crossbell games but I can't and PC stuff goes WAAAY over my head. I've played the Trails FC, SC, CS, CSII, and then Sky the 3rd and I was just fine so I think I'm okay on waiting for an official release of the Crossbell games to come out. Man, I can't wait to play CSIII later this year! Already got that sweet Thors edition preordered! I know I'm gonna love that game already based in my history with the other 5 games I've played. ^__^
I played Zero and Ao after I played CS I and II so that's fine, but if you don't play Zero and Ao before CS III that'll spoil fairly sizable parts of them. And I don't think CSIII will make as much sense to anyone that hasn't played Zero and Ao so... yeah.

idk if u have already played them or not but getting a hold of these games in english is alot simpler than u might think. both are available on nyaa (or at least ao is) just search for the one uploaded by ganba. if zero isnt on nyaa just google zero no kiseki english nicoblog and download from there. no other downloads are necessary i cant stress enough how much i recommend not skipping these if u have even just a barely decent pc

I'm a pedant and I've tried playing zero's fan translations but I just can't let the errors slide. I know they worked hard but that's just how I am. But I love the trails series so I'll wait for geofront to release their translation because I sure as hell ain't playing cold steel without playing through the Crossbell arc. One of the reasons I like trails is because of the reading and if the sentence structure is off it just doesn't feel right (especially after playing the absolutely spotless translation of the Sky trilogy by Xseed). I'm hoping geofront will at least live up to Xseed's quality.
Good call on the wait (I'm assuming you mean not play CS3 since that's when the Crossbell overlap happens). It looks like Geofront is pretty close to wrapping up their work and from what I've read on their last progress report, they did some really amazing work. It'll be worth the wait. The other hope is for a localization publisher to release kai in the west but I'm not hopeful about that because I don't think the sales will be there.

I played Ao on a psp emu with the old translation and it was mostly fine except for some hard to translate metaphorical things which kinda get lost a bit but make sense from context. Both games were amazing, way better than CS 1+2 and a better package than FC+SC. FC imo is just a very slow start that kinda saves all the spice till the last 20mins. I doubt we will see a official translation anytime soon, considering these are psp games and Xseed is busy translating the new releases in time.

Glad to hear geofront's translation is good, but I'm kinda reluctant to get zero because I might screw something up by buying it from DLSite. I think there's a good chance Falcom will translate Zero and Ao, because if you haven't heard yet, they're going to receive the Kai (remaster/modern port) treatment and will be ported to PS4. By extension, that will make it to the backwards compatible PS5. It's an effort to expand their audience to those who don't have PSPs, so why not translate it to make it accessible to other countries as well? It's likely, albeit unfortunate that NISA would translate Zero and Ao Kai. Especially after the Ys 8 fiasco, but they at least stepped up with the Cold Steel 3 translation. My only other worry for NISA is that they're particularly known for censorship, and they might screw up an important plot point and it's context simply to make it more "appropriate". After all, the sheer gargantuan amount of the dialogue is a characteristic of the series. I'd rather have XSeed do it, because despite their budget they do an arguably better job than NISA at translation; if they had a bigger budget and more people, you'd barely notice any mistake. Why did Falcom hire NISA despite their reputation? I dunno, Falcom's ways are mysterious as ever, like Ouroboros level right there. But whatever, as long as the series gets translated and gets translated right, it's a big day for Trails. I mean, it's practically gehenna to translate them.

Isekai anime is boring, i more prefer fantasy (not transported from other world) and i see this series, i loved how it satisfied my needs, i do more interesting on this series rather than Final Fantasy series dont know why... Well im not yet finished trails of the cold steel 2 but i know i was skiping a few, so here i am watching your videos so i can learn about the series before trails of the cold steel, because i've seen on wiki theres some character that originaly from previous series that will appear on cold steel 4, even thou im not play it, i want to know overall of it... I haven't played cold steel but I know it has spoilers for the Crossbell arc so I don't know how that will affect you. I personally find 3rd chapter to be the best in the sky series and I like Crossbell more than Sky. Hopefully that gives you an idea of where I stand with the games. Either way, Lloyd and Co. are going to be in CS3 and CS4 anyway so why not play it to learn about their characters?
i'm pretty far into zero right now and loving it, but nothing will ever top trails in the sky 1 and 2 for me. the story and characters in sky are just better imo. i'm so annoyed that 3 has no english translation on psp, so i had to skip that one. at least it does seem to be the least important of the 5 games from what i've seen/heard.
Why skip Lloyd when you just get Rean instead who is kinda just worse Lloyd. Crossbell has the best cast and Lloyd is very much a driving force in that dynamic.

This is way better than both sky and cold steel. Like not even close lol. This is 1000 times better. Sen III and IV are comparable though.
