Thanks. Couldn’t afford $70 for a 6ft, so I bought a $20 3ft and hoped for the best. Not only did it work but I found out someone flushed down half a bar of soap and it got lodged in the drain pipe. Saved me a call to the plumber.

Bad presentation. I can't really see what you're doing. How long does it take to break the wax ring with a plunger? Everyone I know uses the plunger and noone ever had a problem. I have been using a plunger 20 years on my antique toilet. The toilet must be 80 years old, it come with the house. No leakage.

Using a plunger occasionally for small clogs probably won't damage the wax seal but I guess it could if you plunging really hard. An auger/snake is definitely better. As for how to use it, there really isn't anything more you need to see. You stick it in the toilet and crank the handle. That's about it. After you pull it out, flush to make sure the clog is gone, then clean it and set it somewhere to dry. Or so I've heard. I can't get mine to work which is why I'm here.
