@@moriahjacobs6131 Totally agree but the hyperbole surrounding Gone With The Wind hoovered up most of the gongs in 1939...It was a travesty how Gladys George was reduced to a blink & you'll miss her cameo in The Maltese Falcon 2 years later given how much soul she brings to her performances. Cagney's demise as bootlegger Eddie Bartlett is among the best things he ever produced on the screen...such pathos...
@@philiphalpenny3783 Ironic that for black folks like me, it isn't that great. So it's top for white folks. And that's why Cagney, Bogart, Davis and the rest of the WB crew is the only classic movies I watch.
@@lynn1464 very true... there’s a very select few sitcoms I’ll watch these days. I find myself watching the old school stuff, Maude, Laverne and Shirley... just to name a few
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show. Now it's the disco, but not for Lola .... (I can't remember the middle) She sits there so refined and drinks herself half blind...
Humorous imitation of Jimmy Cagney by Steve Lawrence while Sally Struthers as Priscilla Sheridan actually suppose to be like Priscilla Lane & Ann Sheridan combined.
Great skit and strangely true to life in this mad world. As I have been posting about CB and her "Variety Show," not only a television classic, but with production on the level of old fashioned quality Broadway.
This must have been before the drinking started..."We love you miss Hanigan!" "Where's Annie!?" "She had to go bathroom..." "Mughhhh...she haddago baffroom! Kill kill kill! And if this floor doesn't SHINE like the TOP OF THE CHRYSLER BUILDING...!"
The Havana character (or whatever her name is) of CB reminded me of Hillary Clinton. Before, and even more so AFTER she got her head handed to her by the greatest President since President Ronald Reagan.

@@stormwarning1693 All *eiskwean said was that Steve Lawrence as Eddie sounded somewhat similar to President Trump in this sketch. Growing up in the 1970s, all I can say is, Priceless!
Mr. Lawrence does a wonderful Cagney 🤗🤗😄😄😘
Carol did so many characters! Perfection!
The Carol Burnett show was and is the greatest comedy of our time. Loved all of her shows.
Steve Lawrence "dying" is hilarious every time.
Steve Lawrence was guest several times on the show. He had great comedic ability. And this one is a most favorite. RIP 🕊
I saw this show new. Steve Lawrence often played a gangster in skits of the eps he guest starred in. This show is still hilarious.
Steve "dies" just as dramatically as Tim! 😂
that was a real physical scene at the end for steve lawrence, push ups and all, he was definitely in shape.
The movie references is from the roaring 20s with James Cagney
Love this skit. Lawrence and Burnette and company excellent. Love Cagney's movie!!
Gettin' huge Miss Hannigan vibes from this character!
More like Miss Havisham from Great Expectations. Never changing her clothes from her wedding day.
Too funny!!!
That’s what I thought
Lawbooks, easy street
RIP. Steve. March 7, 2024. You and Eydie were a treasure!!!
RIP Steve Lawrence, thanks for the laughs.
Longest death scene in history of television. Hilarious!
That was awesome ! He should have won an award for the best death scene
Cagney should have won the AA for his riveting performance! And Gladys George...wonderful.

its sad how entertainment has shifted away from this
Yes; it's now The Jimmy Kimmel Show and Three And A Half Men... :(
It was planned. It didn't shift by accident. Stop watching current TV. If enough of us stopped we could make a difference.
@@lorimiller4301 Your right about that.
Yessss, miss the old day !!

This reminds me of the movie Johnny Dangerously.
Boy…I sure love this skit and this show!
I love the costumes and love the dance numbers. Joy to see this production.
her name was Lola
She was a showgirl
Grace Austin oh my God somebody finally got

@@ItWILLbeWONDERFUL_THERE "Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair."
Actually, my first thought was "Lola" by The Kinks.
I just couldn't figure out the connection between Carol Burnett and a transvestite, lol.

Fantastic comedy - live orchestra too.

Eddie did a lot of workouts while he was dying. LOL!
I absolutely love the ending when Carol is just standing there watching like 😶😶😶

"ROOOOOOOSTEEEEER!!!!!!!!"
?
it's so weird seeing Sally Struthers on anything but All in the Family. Cool! Incidentally, Sally could sing better than Pricilla
Fuzzy Bunny Slippers: She was also on “Gilmore Girls”.
@@triluna0 Cool. Thanks. I'll look it up.
@@triluna0 You may have just done the impossible: made me want to watch Gilmore Girls.
Thank you; I was trying to figure out who that was.
Try the sitcom, "Still Standing" on RUclips. A very funny show and especially so when she's on.
Why does Steve remind me of.....someone...
Trump?
Reminds me of Adam Schiff.
Swell james cagney????
This was comedy.
I.think this was one of the funniest skits on. carol Burnett show.
Thanks for making this video
I just watched the 1939 film, The Roaring Twenties, which this spoofed. Even as a kid, it was funny.
Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl, with yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there… 😄
Watching this in the year 20 two oh
The Ancient Mariner meets the Great Gatsby.
Eddie how come she's get a present and I don't ...love it tooofunny.
That's soooooo hilarious
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hahahahahahaha, the shooting scene, how did Carol not laugh or get hit by those bullets?
Sally's style is more 30's than 20's. Like Jean Harlow.
Yeah, it's more 1930 s than the 20s.
Uh okay;
That Bogart impression was better than cagney.
WE LOVE YOU MISS HANNIGAN ANG MISS BURNETT
Still the best
Excellent.
I dig Eddie's beat man
biggity bang bang
MRS HANNIGAN!!!
The dough boys!
Best skits
Did anyone else checkout the audience at the beginning? Really was the 70's with those cheesy suits and all that pastel.
And what the f*** are you wearing that won't be cheesy 10 years from now?
Eddie sounds ,like😄💥 Reagan lol
Why would they be singing We're in the Money in 1920?
Why would they know about barbie dolls forty years prior to it being a thing?
Wonder what happened to all of Carols outfits and costumes??
I remember this song it was on Family Guy lol
Poor.Havana never.got.her " Happily Ever.After"!!
Overanalyze much?
Eddie looks and sounds like Donald Trump.
My thoughts exactly! I wanted to peek over the comment section to check whether someone else already pointed that out ;).

The first part of the show was the weakest. I always wondered why she did it.

Why did Sally Struther's character ask for a Shirley Temple when Shirley Temple wasn't even born yet during the skit's setting? Continuity error much?
Because it's a comedy sketch who's purpose is to try and make you laugh, not be 100% historically accurate.
How can I possibly enjoy this sketch in the face of anachronisms? I can't laugh at anything that doesn't adhere strictly to the timeline.
Sterling Ross you must be fun at parties
Sterling Ross the real Eddie was only shot three times not 30.... oh wait it's a skit
There was a drink named the "Shirley Temple" That was around since the late 40's
NOT one of the better sketches!
