In case you guys missed it. At 3:08 Joe said "Now I have turned my 'bum' into a virtual instrument that I can now play and record". Pun intended? Maybe or maybe not, but it still was a priceless comment. LOL!
"I turned my bum into a musical instrument" - LMAO! ALSO - my narcissism just got a refresh thanks to this video... I may never leave the studio again!
For holding notes you can use the Loop function, right underneath where the wave is shown in Sample One. Sure, you'll have to play with the start and ending point of loop, until it will sound natural and this will make it loop for as long as you hold the key without any troubles. 😉
So I imagine you can load multiple samples into the same instrument and map them to different pitch ranges for a more natural sound? For example, you could record an E and map that to C-G, then record a B and map that to G#-D#. Or you could record every pitch individually and map them to their correct pitches.
As a new user of Studio One 5 and to so my ignorance, could I record any sound and do this? A bell, tapping on a frying pan, etc? Or am I missing the point?
I would love to be able to tell you that it's restricted to just the word 'bum', but that would be untrue and cruel :-) Anything you care to sample will work.
Hi Joe. You are funny and I really had a good laugh this morning all the way over here in sunny South Africa. I enjoy your presentation often as much as the interesting things I learn. Thanks.
I used Sample One to suck in sounds from my Roland JV2080 Hardware Synth module. Sounds like Santur. I do it on need by need basis. Sometimes I do that in Omnisphere 2. All depends upon what I want. Cool, your demo is awesome.
Very nice! Will use it! Suggestion: would you teach yourself and us all on how to use midi , samples and other such stuff? Your approach is what us, old school musicians need! Thanks!!!
I asked Presonus a year ago to allow The Chorder and/or Sample One to be used as a Vocorder. I think it was as simple as just allowing the mic input to be triggered/pass through by midi keyboard... Would be great to be able to Sing live using the Chorder or Sample...awesome backgrounds! Perhaps someone here can figure it out
Hi, although i'm already using Sample One in this way, You had me with "go watch a Gregor video" 🤣. I loved every second of this helpful and funny tutorial, from the beginnign to the end. Keep on bum-bum-bumming !
Fair enough I was warned! Just wasted 5min of my life! How can someone not know this? Have you never listen to music from the 80's? This kind of thing was literally on every other song! Dear God there was a whole TV show called Max headroom and this was the whole running premise of the character. I seriously thought he was joking around and was just trying to be funny. Like I said fair enough you warned me but I thought that was part of the setup. 🤷🏿♂️
Hi, I'm a Korean. This video no got subtitles. so I want to use it but I don't understand. If you've time, Could you please add subtitles? I am not good enough to speak English. so I am not sure that's the word I'd use.
Ha ha ha -- "you dragged this (Sample One) in, didn't know what it is, and closed it". Although I knew what it was and did, I admit closing it pretty much right away! :-) This is a very good video. Thanks.
I noticed you have the same problem I've been having. When you open an instrument your mod wheel is all the way down. Are you using Akai midi keyboard?
Im an Ableton Live User and have been for a long time now but Studio One is looking really good these days!!!!! I just may have to give it a try before its over with!!! Great Video!!
@@freestate6200 I see loop on the screen where he sowed sample one. So yeah you can do it. I already do it in machine then drag and drop my patterns into studio one
Is it also possible to record several vocal sounds (or a whole phrase) and then chop it up in Sample One? As heard on a lot of electronic pop records these days
"Go watch gregor video" bro im dead XD
Same!
Haaa Joe's the best, I'd pick him over Gregor any day 😂 simply for the presentation and the winks
No both you guys are brilliant in your oen way
In case you guys missed it. At 3:08 Joe said "Now I have turned my 'bum' into a virtual instrument that I can now play and record". Pun intended? Maybe or maybe not, but it still was a priceless comment. LOL!
Sample One needs pitch detection for automatic root mapping.
this is actually what I was looking for.. but ran into this instead
There's an easy way to load samples in sample one. Just right click the audio event, go to audio and select 'send to new sample one' that's it 👍
"I turned my bum into a musical instrument" - LMAO!
ALSO - my narcissism just got a refresh thanks to this video... I may never leave the studio again!
I think you meant “LMBO.”
@@b1j I mean, you're not wrong lol
I’ve often told my wife that I too have, “made my bum into a music instrument.”
She is not nearly impressed as she ought to be.
Actually, if you select "Follow Song Tempo" right unter the Sample in Sample1 the tempo doesn't change along with the pitch :)
Dangit you beat me!
See, this is why I like the Studio One community.... team-work makes the dream work... 😂
Very cool! Although after a while I guess one would get bummed out 😎

"I've turned my bum into a virtual instrument that i can now play and record!"
Simple yet honest video! Quite useful to unleash barriers and dive into the "sample world". Thanks a lot, Joe! :)
I love playing around with sample one! Didnt know about setting the root note. Thank you for the tips.
funny how u can't drag a sample out of the sampler to the a track in arranger. :(

Joe's babrber's shop quartet....

This is TOTALLY AMAZING!!!! LOVE IT!
3:08 "Now I turned my bum into a virtual instrument" lmao!!!
Wow wow wow 😮❤
Sounds amazing 😃👌🏽👏🏾👏🏾
Joe, Great Intro! Howling over here..especially the section about Sample One and no sounds..shamefully I've done this :)
"So now I've turned my bum into a musical instrument. "
@season3 music: Are you listening, Bob?
Hi Joe. You are funny and I really had a good laugh this morning all the way over here in sunny South Africa. I enjoy your presentation often as much as the interesting things I learn. Thanks.
Beautiful bum.. hahaha I see where you going mate.. 😂
That was rather childish Joe.
I however approve the usage of bum in this way!!
This is true sampling like in the old days fiddling with an Akai sampler. Love it.
What!!! You have never been to a train station? lol
Joe I always appreciate your incredible teaching skills and your sense of humor!😄
Joe, this was timeless really. I have a program where you have to sing and then manipulate the notes at the same time. I like this way better.
Bum notes harmonised!

Video from 70s??? Face palm from Roland korg and other Yamaha...
Love the energi you always put into your videos :)

Thanks Joe, was just looking for a fun texture for a song! Will try this out 😎
This is a nice video Joe, Sample One is a dope sampler. The only thing am missing is the crossfade.

I thought you would say "thanks for watching my bummm!!"
When will the videos be translated into French ? Good job !
I'm going to ignore your bum and focus on the fact you've never been to a train station. This seriously blows my mind...
And what if you don't have this crappy software and you use a real DAW?
Wow this is super amazing. Pls I'm using studio one artiste pls how can I get a standard drum pad, loops in it?
Sampled fart symphony added to bucket list ✅ 😂
Why don't you guys are adding feature of Dolby Atmos mixing in studio one 😢
"Beautiful beautiful bum." - Joe from Presonus
That’s awesome! Thanks! Keep those bums comin’!😂
can we convert vocal sound into piano sound or retranslate a vocal mimic into piano sound?
Sample One is nice but it really needs some different repitch options.
Gregor may be Glorfindel, but Joe is Faramir.
My bum has been a virtual instrument for decades.
I've turned my bum into a digital instrument
Great quote
Wow this is really helpful, I'm going to try and use sample 1 like this. Thanks a lot!
terrible resolution, very blur
Can you change the names of the slices you create in the sample list?
Select Follow Song Tempo and the vocals will keep the same tempo
So many ideas... Thank you!!!!
Laughing non-stop. OK, I stopped. Wow, this is cool. Though if I tried it, my word would have to be "Duh!" Until I figured it out. lol
You've never been to a train station???? good video though

"I turned my bum into an instrument."
Tina Belcher:
"Gene, I've found an instrument we can BOTH play!"
Hi Joe how did you do the Drums ? Please let me know.
OMG...this made me laugh. "I've turned my bum into a virtual instrument." Thank-you!
One extra comment: Try using Melodyne (or similar) to clean up the audio (pitch drift, vibrato, etc.) before putting it into Sample One.
Ingenius m ade me respect SampleOne more.
Great - Joe x 100 - wonderful 😁
One time I used Sample One to make my cat “sing” the All Star melody over the Smoke on the Water riff. It was actually interesting counterpoint….
I noticed you have the same problem I've been having. When you open an instrument your mod wheel is all the way down. Are you using Akai midi keyboard?
“I’ve turned my bum into a virtual instrument” is the phrase I didn’t know I was waiting my life to hear! 😂
Im an Ableton Live User and have been for a long time now but Studio One is looking really good these days!!!!! I just may have to give it a try before its over with!!! Great Video!!
Hi Joe.. just tried it mate.. Brilliantly explained as always.👏👏👌
I believe you can set loop points. So that it makes it into a wave table where you can hold a note as long as you want.
Ask Gregor that though
@@freestate6200 I see loop on the screen where he sowed sample one. So yeah you can do it. I already do it in machine then drag and drop my patterns into studio one
Bumm was a all legit sh#t bruhhh🔥🔥
Haha LOVE IT!!! ❤️🙏🕊️👼
I've owned Studio One since Studio One 2. I now know how to finally use the sampler!
I really miss a random start option
That is so cool. Can’t wait to try this.
❤❤❤
Nice video 😍
Awesome video thanks

Ah yes. The virtual bum. No other instrument plays quite like it. 🤔🫣😂

Bummer 😊😂🤣🤣🤣😂🤪🤪🤪
Daft Punk love it, Really one of the functions why i use to want studio one never used it
Cool
bruh! 👌👌👌👏👏💯💯💯💯
Is it available in artist vr?
Nice. Thanks!

So freaking awesome and cool 😎. Thanks!!!!
Yeah, pretty cool and easy-to-use sampler.
