toslink (optical) does not support Dolby Digital Plus (doesn't have the bandwidth to output that). It only supports Dolby Digital (5.1), so keep that in mind people!

@@jokerr1391 It's not so much the device (Firestick) that is the problem. It's the toslink (optical) cable that is the problem. Toslink cables just don't have the bandwidth to support DD+. Only HDMI supports DD+
Toslink only supports DD 5.1 or DTS
DD+ means you can have DD 7.1 surround, whereas normal Dolby Digital, or DTS you can have only 5.1 surround sound.
So, if you hook up any Firestick with an HDMI cable to a receiver that has a HDMI input for sound, that way you can get DD+

@@jokerr1391 Sure, I use an optical (toslink) cable as well on my Firestick. The 5.1 is perfect. It just doesn't support DD+ for 7.1. But it's good enough for DD 5.1 and DTS

which fire tv stick is this, the normal hd one ork 4k/max? ive tried before and I had no luck with 4k/max and they dont support an hdmi audio extractor because of copy right mechanism.
