I have a Denon AVR-2309ci Going to a Old Panasonic Plasma TV. Love the TV. What I've found is that the Denon HDMI port says "monitor out" but does not say (ARC) but the old TV Does. Are they simply not compatible ? I cant seem to get video or audio out of any configuration using HDMI Nor the Optical. I'm seriously frustrated here as I just sold my HK AVR that worked fantastic, but I wanted the HDMI upgrade. maybe the used DENON is broken?? And I'm trying to run my firestick into the configuration.

So I just got the latest Amazon Cube... What is a not too crazy 5.1 system you recommend? I have all video as mp4 files and want to make sure I can play them with 5.1 assuming they have been coded as such. Also I hear Netflix has some shows with 5.1 available.

    • @Allabouthomeelectronics

We don’t generally make recommendations. Different 5.1 systems process certain audio signals. Research the audio signal type you’ll most likely listen to and make certain the 5.1 system you buy processes that signal.

All nice if you've got up-to-date equipment. I use a Blu-ray player as the receiver which doesn't have HDMI input, but does have Toslink input. But my TV will only give 5.1 through the optical output from its (very limited) built-in apps. Anything that comes in through HDMI is only output as stereo.
I really need an affordable streaming player with its own Toslink output, but can I find one?...

Your video was great and explanations clear. MY AV receiver is a Yamaha RXV581...with a very similar port layout as your example. I connected my TV's ARC HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on the AVR, and then connected the FireCube to the same 4K enabled port on the AVR as shown in video. My problem was that with those connections I could never see the FireCube Setup Screen on my Samsung TV. The only way I could see the FIRECUBE setup was by connecting the FireCube directly to an HDMI port on the TV. I was then able to complete the setup...but I could not get the sound to run through the AVR. I even tried reconnecting the HDMI cable between the FireCube & AVR, but I lost the TV video altogether. Any thoughts of what else I might try? [My TV is a Samsung KU650D] Thanks

Thank you for the kind remark. We in fact just verified the process to make this work. Naturally, please ignore any individual step process which you know you've already enabled etc:
      1. Turn on TV, enable the ARC feature within TV's menu settings. Then, using the TV's remote, set the TV's input source to the HDMI ARC input.
      2. Turn on AVR and enable ARC feature. Demo: ruclips.net/video/zlSjN5Z5wHM/видео.html
      3. Connect Firecube to available port on back of AVR, plug in power adapter of Firecube and set input of AVR to that port.

However...i cant get kodi or Cinema( with debrid) content that is coded with dolby digital sound to play through the receiver? Its like the stick isnt allowing the passthrough?
When I turn off the pass through the receiver reverts to pro logic and sound comes through.
I also have an android box on same setup..the dolby digital operates fine..but I would like to put it all on the stick.

Yes, all devices will have to be plugged into the AVR. If it were me I’d only use the function to connect devices that lack HDMI-CEC. In theory anything with CEC would switch to the proper input when powered on.
Don’t quote on it, but also in theory you’d likely lose the ability for the FTV to switch TV inputs on voice command, TV volume, and if the receiver isn’t an HDMI CEC device the ability to power on the TV (not 100% sure about the last one).
Otherwise if you want to control the TV directly, the FTV needs to be plugged into a TV input along with the cable box.

This worked great to my Sony STR-DH550. Unfortunately, I hear the sub constantly buzzing while watching and even when the tv is off. How would I solve this?

Do those Amazon Firesticks process Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD Master Audio?

If your going to use the TV as a monitor and not for sound then it doesn't matter if the reciever is or TV is ARC enabled right? Just plug the firestick into a spare HDMI and your good to go?

ARC permits 2 very general features :
      1) audio to pass out of a TV & over to an external speaker system (ie: thus not requiring use of TV speakers for sound if so desired)
      2) use of CEC communication between CEC enabled devices thus allowing, for 1 example, the TV remote to control volume of an external speaker system’s volume and/or On Off control etc
By saying “spare” the short answer is yes with but, not every HDMI port on any given piece of equipment performs identically at best. Port 1 often would be best performing port; however, this won’t hold true in all cases
Hope this helped despite its length

@@Allabouthomeelectronics I only use my TV as a monitor. Don't use the TV remote at all. I turn it on switch to HDMI and that's it. All devices are fed through the reciever. Mine only has 1 out to my TV. All my devices are connected through optical or RCA and a HDMI splitter. I will need to update my reciever to have in's so I can dismiss the spilter and to plug my firestick in directly.

What if my fire stick doesn't reach to my TV from the surround sound box? Is there such a thing an extender and if so what's the name of it so I can purchase it online?

I have an older Sony theater surround system that does not have Bluetooth. The surround sound system works for the DVD and radio but not for my TV. I have a fire stick already connected to the back of my LG TV. Can you please help me?

look on the back of your home theater to see if there is an alternate audio input port. if there is then hopefully your tv will have a matching audio output port you can connect to

How do I get my receiver’s surround sound on fire tv if the receiver is pre-hdmi ( there isn’t an hdmi slot on the receiver).

    • @Allabouthomeelectronics
      @Allabouthomeelectronics  4 года назад

Connect FireTV directly to TV and TV’s optical audio output connect to receiver
