Thanks for sharing this. My husband was an IT Director but I was lost on electronic things when he passed, so I am grateful for people like you. Very simple instructions. Thanks again!
Your instructions were clear enough that even this old couple can understand. Our music channel sound so much better streaming through surround sound now. Thank you so much!
First.. I've been connecting to the TV directly my fire stick forever.. I knew it wasn't right overall sound wise and video. I switched just now and BOOM! I am enjoying my surround quality again! Thanks
Huge help. Sometimes the simplest solution is the right solution! I literally spent 2 hours trying every configuration on the tv inputs and receiver programing and all I really needed to do was plug the dang stick directly into my receiver 🤦♂️
Thank you so much! I actually happen to have the exact same Yamaha receiver and a 4K fire stick so it’s as if you were speaking directly to me in this video lol. I Wasn’t sure if my Firestick should be plugged into my LG 0LED 65 inch TV or my Yamaha receiver and that might have been why my audio issues were failing … To the receiver We go! You rock👍🏻
Nice video, thank you, on my cube, there is an hdmi in and out. So having connected everything as you mentioned, what would be best for adding additional, my Xbox?
Nicely done video. You dont speak to how or if the Firestick Remote will turn on/off the receiver and if it will control the volume on the AVR. You have to use two remotes in this set up - am I correct on that?
Thanks for the INFO can we plug in to any HDMI port to the TV or is it a Must we must only plug in to the ARC port of the TV.. and will it send both Audio and video the video signal to the TV
This has helped so much I picked Yamaha receiver and I wasn't sure how to setup the 🔥 stick. I had the stick hooked to the TV but never thought about hooking to the receiver thanks!
WOW I would have NEVER thought about putting the Amazon stick in the receiver. How would you connect a blu-ray? I have RC cable, would you connect the blu-ray RC cable from the blu ray to the receiver and blu-ray?
Horse do you get the remote to work the TV do you can change the settings? The remote doesn’t work the TV so I can turn it on out off or change the firestick settings
Great video. I have a challenge as I have an older Marantz AVR but it does not have HDMI inputs. It has RCA of course, s-video, digital and optical inputs. Currently I have the FS plugged directly into my TV but I get stereo only. Not 5.1. Any suggestions?
I setup my Fire TV 4K using your directions, very understandable and straightforward. I am not sure if this is a problem with my settings or a limitation with the equipment, I am using ONKYO RC-898M av receiver. The volume will only adjust (or mute) with the IR signal, is there any setting on the Fire TV that will adjust the volume without using the IR signal? Thanks for any help you can provide.
Im streaming tidal music using my Chromecast with google tv dongle. If I plug it into my AVR how do I get an image in TV and will the sound quality improve over plugging it directly into my TV.
Is it possible to plug a Firestick into an (Onkyo) AVR and use an Ethernet cable instead of wifi? I have an adapter I use to direct connect Firesticks that are plugged into a TV, but I cannot get it to work when plugged into the AVR.
I have a Denon AVR-2309ci Going to a Old Panasonic Plasma TV. Love the TV. What I've found is that the Denon HDMI port says "monitor out" but does not say (ARC) but the old TV Does. Are they simply not compatible ? I cant seem to get video or audio out of any configuration using HDMI Nor the Optical. I'm seriously frustrated here as I just sold my HK AVR that worked fantastic, but I wanted the HDMI upgrade. maybe the used DENON is broken?? And I'm trying to run my firestick into the configuration.
I have a firestick 4k. Will this setup allow all apps I stream( kodi, CINEMAHD... ETC) through the stick to give pass through to the receiver for my dolby digital sound? Or will it only work with the prime content?
Hello, I have a Yamaha RX-V350 and a 4k Amazon Stick but I couldn't connect the audio. I watched your video and I see you have a newer device with a HDMI port which my device doesn't have. Is there another way to connect these devices? Thank you
All nice if you've got up-to-date equipment. I use a Blu-ray player as the receiver which doesn't have HDMI input, but does have Toslink input. But my TV will only give 5.1 through the optical output from its (very limited) built-in apps. Anything that comes in through HDMI is only output as stereo. I really need an affordable streaming player with its own Toslink output, but can I find one?...
Really good video, thank you..I do have a question. I have set up my Amazon stick and AV receiver in the way you've shown. I've wired my rears, centre and sub to the AV receiver. I have a stereo amp which I've wired my fronts to. The stereo amp is connected using the line 1 channel to the pre out on the AVR. However, I'm not getting sound from the fronts. Any ideas on what the issue would be? Thanks.
Your video was great and explanations clear. MY AV receiver is a Yamaha RXV581...with a very similar port layout as your example. I connected my TV's ARC HDMI cable to the HDMI OUT port on the AVR, and then connected the FireCube to the same 4K enabled port on the AVR as shown in video. My problem was that with those connections I could never see the FireCube Setup Screen on my Samsung TV. The only way I could see the FIRECUBE setup was by connecting the FireCube directly to an HDMI port on the TV. I was then able to complete the setup...but I could not get the sound to run through the AVR. I even tried reconnecting the HDMI cable between the FireCube & AVR, but I lost the TV video altogether. Any thoughts of what else I might try? [My TV is a Samsung KU650D] Thanks
Thank you for the kind remark. We in fact just verified the process to make this work. Naturally, please ignore any individual step process which you know you've already enabled etc: 1. Turn on TV, enable the ARC feature within TV's menu settings. Then, using the TV's remote, set the TV's input source to the HDMI ARC input. 2. Turn on AVR and enable ARC feature. Demo: ruclips.net/video/zlSjN5Z5wHM/видео.html 3. Connect Firecube to available port on back of AVR, plug in power adapter of Firecube and set input of AVR to that port.
People should be made aware it is only a virtual Atmos you cannot get Dolby Atmos not unless you've got yourself a premium TV, plus the best input on the back of the AVR for a 4K stick would be sa/cd for superior audio! Hope that helps
Hopefully this old lady will be able to accomplish this. Current Logitech remote too old for updates and updates require computer connection. Trying to replace 6 devices through Sony receiver and OLD ROKU with this fire cube. I have Alexa nearby, can another wake word be used for the Fire TV Cube?
@@ginnyphillips4464 Alexa this Alexa that... can't blame you for asking. No! I don't think you can change the wake word for Alexa but mind you if you were using hey Google then that wake word could be changed, not officially of course but there is a workaround for that one.

Does plugging the firestick into the receiver make it possible to power it on/off, or allow you to control the volume or inputs using dot or other Alexa device?
So I just got the latest Amazon Cube... What is a not too crazy 5.1 system you recommend? I have all video as mp4 files and want to make sure I can play them with 5.1 assuming they have been coded as such. Also I hear Netflix has some shows with 5.1 available.
We don’t generally make recommendations. Different 5.1 systems process certain audio signals. Research the audio signal type you’ll most likely listen to and make certain the 5.1 system you buy processes that signal.
The main thing here is the Amp/ Receiver/ Home Cinema has too have an output too the TV. My Sony DAV-F200 2.1 system only has one hdmi so clearly can’t work, seems I’m due an upgrade. Cheers 🍻 for the upload, at least it has given me a clear way to do it. 👍🏽
Is it still possible to have the fire stick plugged in and playing through the tv then having the choice of when a film or sport is on turning on and playing sound through a channel on AV unit ??? Or is it just a case of plug n play through the AV unit for sport and films? Thanks guys
Don’t turn TV speakers off and mute tv or avr as you wish. Depending on your brand and capabilities of your equipment this should work but maybe not always
Great video! We've been having the problem you mention with "picture, but no sound" on our Yamaha RX-V385 receiver with the Firestick inserted into the flat-panel tv instead of the receiver.
Optoma HD27, Denon AVR540BT, Fire TV Cube. What is the best way to set up fire TV Alexa to control everything? Which input in the Denon and will it control the projector as well? I’m having issues running the Alexa setup.
I may be dense, but if I plug my older style firestick into the receiver, how do I get picture on the tv? I have another hdmi cable going to the tv, but what port would I use? Little confused for picture
Hey folks!! I just setup my Onkyo AV receiver but when I moved my firestick off my tv, the Firestick is not working when plugged into the back of the unit ( hdmi of course).
