  • In this guitar lesson video, I break down "Tennessee Whiskey" from Chris Stapleton.
    This is a great song with just 2 chords in the Key of A major, and also have a very memorable guitar solo.

    If you look up the “sheet music” for this song, it has several time signatures listed, though 12/8 is the most popular one. However, 6/8…3/4…even 4/4 are readily available. Personally, I appreciate songs that are easily adaptable to each person’s playing style. I mean, even Chris Stapleton changed it from the original signature to suit his style-and he ran away with all kinds of success doing so.
    😉🎸🎼🎶🎵

    • @GoGuitarlessons
      @GoGuitarlessons  5 лет назад +8

      It is just there as the default. It isn't meant to be too detailed like sheet music and just meant to show the notes, but a good idea for future lessons. The note values are also incorrect too and I don't see myself making those correct as it is a lot of work.

    • @jphil9687
      @jphil9687 4 года назад

      Excellent video @ Ian & @@GoGuitarlessons Most would call it 6/8 feel --or actually 12/8 per bar, which is four beats in 4/4 time. So 4/4 is actually correct. No pop music is written in actual 6/8, which is used primarily in "classical" or marching music composition. One bar of 6/8 would be only a beat in 4/4, thus no one writes 6/8 in pop.

      Thanks for the feedback. The first thing I can say is that Chris Stapleton does play the solo mostly in the 2 and 4th positions where I play it in the 7th and 9th positions. Same exact notes and solo, just different spot on the neck. The other thing that I will say is that there is no such thing as Official TAB. Chris Stapleton doesn't put his official stamp of approval on it and although It may be made by someone like Hal Leonard, it can still have a ton of mistakes. Either way, keep playing and finding the best version and I hope mine was able to offer some help to you.
