Mr. Norman Green, I hope you see this comment. I want to say to you Thank you! My Grandfather and my father had season tickets to the Northstars for their first 19 seasons. We dropped them after my Grandfather had a stroke & then my family moved from the Twin Cities. I was (still am) a huge Northstars fan. I joke that team gave me a birthday gift when they made it to the Stanley Cup Finals for the first time not too long after I was born. 10 years later I was so excited that they were in the Finals again and that they were up 2-1. Two years later though I was devastated. My favorite team was leaving the Cities for of all places....Texas. And later I was disappointed when the Met was demolished. Now you and whoever else might be reading this are wonder how I could thank you??? I want to say Thank you Norman Green for giving me and other fans 3 more years of the North Stars at the Met! Unlike most people in the Twin Cities, I know that in reality the real blame for the you having to move the team was the Minneapolis Sports Commission, who swindled the original owners of the Stars who built the Met Center in forcing them to give ownership of the Met over to them. And the Commission never helped any of the owners of the Northstars with upkeep of the Met. And blame also goes to the local fans who stopped showing up. Attendance in the mid to late 1970s stunk so bad that the original owners almost folded the team. 10 years later with attendance again having declined to horrible levels, the Gund Brothers almost were allowed to move the team to San Jose. And according to a Star Tribune/Channel 5 News poll the majority (65% I think) said they didn't care if the team left. The same local fans who, later abandoned the Twins to the point of almost being contracted. The same fans who abandoned the Timberwolves so fast that they almost moved after 5 years in existence. So Thank You Mr. Green! Thank you for trying to keep the team in Minnesota! You wouldn't have invested your own money in trying to renovate the Met Center if you were just going to move the team anyways. If every person who chanted your name in derogatory way had purchased seasons tickets, every game would have been sold out and the Northstars would still be in MN. Thank you for trying Mr. Green! Most Sincerely, Dan Bratten
I'M remember when I was 5 and still 4 in 1993 my parents hear the news about my nhl team is moved from Minnesota to my hometown of Dallas Texas 7 mouths later I became a fan. North stars fans all done the best these years. Frist game was Detroit red wings well they won that night. Well was still countiued watch power rangers big bird and bozo.
Dallas a better sports market than Twin Cities. Dallas hockey fans willing to pay 3 times more than the cheap Minnesota fans. Also bigger advertising dollars in Dallas than Twin Cities. Norm Green made the right decision.
I remember from about 1984 onwards seeing certain games on TV from Minnesota - various teams playing the North Stars - and seeing all those empty gold and green seats in the stands. The commentators we always yapping about the apathy in Minnesota. Well, too bad they didn't hang on - maybe North Stars might have had the '99 cup. Meanwhile, two Canadian teams bit the dust thanks to a crappy excuse for an economy.
Rob De Manager the north stars wouldn’t have won a cup in 99 because Tom Hicks would’ve never bought the team and poured money into it if they didn’t move to dallas, they probably would’ve continued to be a mediocre team
Moving the north stars was mind blowing. It’s the state of hockey for Christ’s sake.
I agree. I'll bet Norm Green still regrets it.
I wonder why the people in Minnesota couldn’t fight Norm Green to keep the North Stars IP.

Couldn't agree more Dan as upset as I was about em moving I moved my fandom to Dallas and I don't regret it
There wasn't much more you could do to the Met Center it.opened in 1967
It's nice that you remember him fondly.
The rumors of this started on opening night of the 1992-93 season and it went on all the way until March 10
Some of the blame has to be on the local and state governments. Also, the ownership of the arena.
Minnesota got a team back called the Wild
Shahid Bhinder DUHHH
Fuck you
Watch your mouth you know Dallas stars missed it's old home.
But it was 7 years later!
I don't think fans in Twin Cities totally embraced the return of the NHL in 2000
lier,he didn't try to keep them here
The epitome of slime at 4:30
Hi
Texas has not a clue about hockey. they lose, they do not draw.

Norm Greed or Norm Sucks the shirts couldn't stay on the shelves
Business people always talking about dinners.
Look at those ticket prices compared to today pretty reasonable back then
That meant Mario Lemieux& Wayne Gretzky would no longer be coming to town
As a lifetime Dallas Stars fan, I’m truly grateful to watch the legends we inherited from Minnesota. Thanks yeah?
It also made me want a hockey team in Houston
@@augustacovington1941 let’s not get carried away
@@Gabagool93 It could happen, Arizona Coyotes
Number 1 reason he wanted to be closer to that cult in Wacko(Waco) Texas

Sign of things to come
Yes, Winnipeg moving to Phoenix ( later Arizona) and Quebec to Colorado although the Jets came back in 2011
Hockey in Texas rules!!
norm green sux
The State of Hockey?? A joke to be called that when you lose your pro team.
In 1993 it was a state of confusion
The Wild began using that when they were established in 2000
They were calling them the Dallas Stars even before they officially become the Dallas Stars
