My Favourite Trail On the North Shore

- Riding Boogieman in the wet has to be one of my favourite North Shore experiences. The stunts, skinnies and rock rolls become even more special when they're glistening with moisture and the whole trail just seems to exude West Coast vibes.

After you did the little swing-ramp thing, the way you corrected your trajectory, avoiding the tree, and still had flow afterwards.. man that was sick
Thanks! Front or rear wheel pivots play a big part in my riding. They certainly help make up for poor line choices.
@@ddangerousddave Im still a beginner but I always look at that move like something a mountain biker needs to learn/master to be able to ride everywhere with no trouble. It will be in the next things I learn!
@@ddangerousddave Or is that just one man’s style of line choices?! I’m a skateboarder for the last 35 years and to me it just looks like style, not poor line choice. Some people make it look as easy as sleepwalking, some are full sketch, you just add some flavor to making it. No shame in the game! 👍🏽
which time lol

Years ago i worked with this guy that considered himself a "serious" mountain biker and on a work trip to Golden we finished up for the day and I asked him if he was going to go for a ride (he always brought his bike on work trips) and he said no because it had rained earlier that day and he didn't want to to get his bike wet or dirty. This made very little sense to me because I've always thought riding in the mud is super fun and the point of mountain biking, get out there get filthy, smile like an idiot the entire time and then when you're spent head home, hit the shower and hose the bike down. Anyway not sure if there's a point to my comment but it's nice to see people out there riding in the fun stuff.
well written man! made me smile, and heres hoping that guy got over his fear of mud lol
From what I have seen (0 personal experience) some trails can become dangerous when wet but yeah, being precious about mud is a bit much >.>
Ridding wet trails can destroys the trails
Yeah, that makes as much sense to me as people who own trucks but only use it in the city and only bought it because it's big and loud.
@@alexashton6501
I know the word you're trying to say, but its not "precious" (meaning of great value). I want to say "dont be precescious[pra-keeshus]" but this doesn't seem to even be a word, so I just cannot find the right word for this. It means to be too picky, unwilling to adventure or try new things, too comfortable where you are without much desire to expand. It's similar to pretentious, but definitely not precocious.
The carved out log is such a lovely feature!
One of my fav features on the shore. So crazy to ride a hollowed out log with a teeter totter that's suspended by a chain.
There are multiple! :D
That squeaking sound is scarier than the emergency horn from StarWars haha.
Agreed. I could do without the brake squeal.
Its ok. His brakes just need some lube ;)
@@itastain probably cuz of the water or someth
Honestly I like the brake squeal. I have absolutely no clue how to mountain bike but I've always wondered when people brake and when they don't while riding
@@mycommentchannel You make a good point! I raced motorcycle scrambles for years and dabbled in trials, so I have a pretty good idea of his braking into turns and drops. You've made me want to re watch it now to see if he uses the brakes like I would!
I’ve never watched or done mountain biking, but I suddenly find myself with a new favorite channel🤔
This is a great channel to 'land' on! Enjoy the incredible riding found within...
Same
I’m late but exactly the same for me. When this video was randomly recommended a game called Riders Republic came out and i bought it immediately. I’m so immersed in that game and want to try it out irl
Same!!
I've seen Jeff KW's video riding the same trail in the wet and even at his immense skill level he struggled with some sections. Unreal riding and control, on such a technical trail, in those conditions 🙌
Thank you!
5:50 You know it's basically vertical IRL when it looks steep on the GoPro. This is some fantastic riding.
Yeah thats what I thought too. I thought Id fall down there myself, just looking at it.
Kinda the opposite, right? gopro's wide angle exaggerates the extremeness of everything
@@voskresenie- nope
@@voskresenie- That's what i was thinking. I remember way back watching a GoPro parkour video that looked absolutely unreal (in regards to how high the jumps were, the speed etc.) and then they showed the runner being filmed from the side by another cam, and it was still impressive but not as insane as through the GoPro.
@@Hoezi02 called pov
People need to understand that in these conditions the trail is 10x more difficult then when it is dry. Well done.
I aspire to attempt 1/10th of what you're able to master
Absolutely cruising Dave, them wet skinny's and rocks looked pretty slippery and you just nailed it lol
Thanks Steve!
The "bottom" section has a bunch of new dirt now. Absolutely gorgeous runout and berm off the drop, and the gap jump to the left is refreshed, too.
I was there recently. Bottom section looks so good. Plus it's generally pretty good for wear anyways since most people do boogie nights ahyways
I'm not sure I've ever hit the left line before. The rock roll to drop is just too much fun!
Oh thats why Ive seen a lot more people riding it now. Gonna have to give’r a try. Cheers!
Yes one of my favorite trails too. New features such as the opening drop have been great updates, but can stop with the "smoothing" of the trail now. I see this video was before a lot of the trail got smoothed out and before the new opening wood drop.
I do miss the jank, but can't complain if the builders and their crew are out putting in work. If they leave it long enough, the new work will eventually become jank again :)
@@ddangerousddave In the end, all succumbs to jank
That hollowed out log looked like a really cool feature
Very unique, and part of what makes the shore such a cool place to ride.
@@ddangerousddave where is it located? Because I would truly love to check it out someday :)
@@julianserrano7761 He has a link to the trail in the description! 😊
I like to imagine the bike is saying "wooooOOOOHHHHHHH" whenever the brakes squeek almost as if it's having a blast
insanity. you're a very good rider
Broo those lines! Wheelie exit-turns galore too :>
You never fail to amaze me. Those maneuvers you do to balance, avoid hitting the trees in those tight turns/spaces, etc. are incredible!
Skills are insane. The forest is so beautiful too. Wow
I'm dutch so I'm used to biking on the road just to get from place to place, and I don't really particularly like doing that, but this looks really fun. I'd love to try something like this but on a VERY VERY easy beginner trail. It's so cool!
Random RUclips recommendations coming through again, you've got deadly skills man 💪 I love watching your rides
Everything about this video is beautiful. The riding, the landscape, and the trail design are all exquisite. Thanks for sharing.
Man ,Dave ! Great job ! Thank you for the vid,and I love these where one can here what its like without some music interfearing
Thanks so much for showcasing your amazing skills. The West Coast sure is very beautiful, and the ride adds more interests to it
I love a trail with great alternate lines! Thanks for the content.
Crazy how you've got the confidence and know how to ride this trail alone, just insane. Keep it up!
I'm glad RUclips recommended me your videos, +1 sub from me. Love the videos, straight to the point, no different angle footage and stuff. I think that's what most of us want to see
New bike day! It would appear my theory that red is always faster holds true too 😁
Pretty sure that's an old video on his previous bike. His new bike is a yellow sight with a red Lyrik.
Wow can't believe you are not bigger on youtube! I always find it so satisfying to watch someone whos really good at something just go at it! Keep 'em coming!! SUBSCRIBED
thanks for the ride! idk why but i always feel like riding a roller-coaster when i watch your videos. thanks for not adding special effects or music.
i was hoping ;) it's my fave too. miss the shore. and the rain. love that old outro section after the split off to boogie nights...watch out for the hamburgler!
also, i've said "weak" in exactly that same place at least twice ;)
Pretty magical place. This was one of the first trails I ever rode on the shore and it keeps me coming back for more!
What a great ride and amazing trail... like all great artists, he made it look simple ... I counted at least 6 fractures, numerous muscle strains and comprehensive bruising if I had tried this trail. Thx for a superb video.
I love the noisy brakes that way I can see/ hear exactly the decisions your making in real time pretty cool man
That had to be an awesome ride. You could see how wet it was. Made it look easy. Was fun to watch. Great video
Thanks for taking us on the ride with you! Ill never be able to do this so its unique being able to see what it may be like!
the confidence in your grip amazes me, very well ridden
We always admire the people who conceive, design, and build all of these trails. Hard Brain work. Hard Back Work. And generally volunteer and unpaid.
Thanks for taking me along on your trail ..What a beautiful place to ride And the camera set up is spot on..
Glad you enjoyed it!!
Purely epic. A few times it felt like you just doing it in VR, there is no way a person on a bike could do that:)
2:49 Smooooth!
You ride some of most technical stuff I've ever seen, and you my friend are the best riders I've seen, wow!
Awesome mate. Those skinny’s looked greasy. 🤙🏻
This is the speed I want to go when something is chasing me in my nightmares.
I don't know if there is a specific name for them or not, but I love those little hollowed out half-log sections on the trail. They just look really cool.
A lot of fun watching you drive. Awesome
Dude your videos are gorgeous. Can’t wait to get back out on the trail once ours open.
when i was younger i remember so many places in nor cal used to look like this. great vid keep up riding.
The flow in this video is just spot on
great riding, bonus points for making it look easy. thats usually the hardest.
That's great stuff right there. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice video...
It helps old people (inexperience) like me who couldn't and wouldn't go out there and experience the thrill of mountain biking.
I really wish I were young again...
I only found you today, and I’m already addicted to your channel!
I have never had so many mini heart attacks watching you have one of the most exciting rides of your life (ha ha my opinion only of course lol) I am addicted now for sure! Wow! That ride was epic dude! Thanks for the rush bro! Much love & respect from Toronto Ontario Canada!
I don't ride I hike and I am sooooo envious of the trails you crazy guys get to ride. some really gorgeous stuff
Damn bud that was awesome, my heart was beating along with ya, great ride!
Wow man, you make it look so easy as a video game. Way to ride man!!!!
man I’ve always wanted to try mountainbiking when I was younger but never got the chance to. Your videos genuinely let me live out my childhood dream, thank you!
Thats kinda sad but i guess this is better than nothing
Haha same. I always wondered at how fun it was. It was too expensive and now Im too fat n outta shape to even joke about riding on these trails.
Found my new favorite channel. Great trail.
Your skills biking through this terrifying terrain is incredible
you just got 3 subs your so brave to go full speed on some of these man... thanks for sharing.
3:19 -- Woah! Too cool! What an exquisite feature. They should call it The Sluice!
your channel could absolutely blow up love these vids
Thanks! Fingers crossed it does 👍
So sick! and imagine doing this on the ages that it was done, with those old school bikes and not that good suspension and brakes, unbelievable. Nice videos, mahalo🤙.
That looked slippery , but fun . Glad the brakes were working well . Thx for the vid.
I used to ride CBC to Boogie man on Seymour 20 yrs ago...was happy if I could clean the steep section prior to taking a hard right to the last ladder drop...there used to be a small tree in the way just as you turn onto the ladder ..it always messed up my approach! Very nostalgic! My old injuries from that trail still haunt me today!
I know people won’t believe this …but when I first built Boogie Man I did it by my self and it was a hidden trail for about a year before it was found out. I used to block the entrance and I did not finish the trail to the trail head it just developed. through people trying to find it. I’m so grateful that people still love this trail I think I have ridden it in my mind a million times back when it was building. I wanted flow and the elements intermixed and trying to do the whole trail back in day without dabs! As we called them. Cheers to all that have added element and fixed with dirt and rock and sweat to this fun trail it shows people still love to boogie.. it looks as fun as when I was living in Vancouver 15 years ago and working on her. …she must be at least 20 old this year!
Cheers …The Bear!
The hamburger came from a downhill race myself and a few others kidnapped in Nelson after a few beers !
your trail is older, I havent been able to ride for almost 20 years, and Boogieman was around when I did ride...back when having a team issue rampage with a brand new 1'"of travel rockshox was the thing...living vicariously here through these vids . thanks from an old worn out shore rider..
Awesome footage love the videos great bike 😎😎😎
Thanks!
unbelievable speed
Beautiful Trail
That jump over the rock at the beginning of the trail was glorious
Great technical skills dude!
Thanks Greg!
thats nuts. that looks like so much fun :o
Awesome Dave. 🤘 Clearly a recent ride! 😉
Nice ride! thanks for the video! man i didn't know the Forest Moon of Endor had such great trails! xD
Dude. I mean. Damnit.... That was beautiful!
i dunno how i get here, but i'm here for it! ride on, dude.
Awesome riding!
Very cool trail, well ridden to👍
This looks so fun. I’m too afraid of getting hurt so I guess I’ll just keep watching your videos. 😂
POV a hoard of clowns are chasing you through the woods. I'm sure someone has made this joke but it was I could think of after hearing those brakes squeak.
man this looks fun as hell. I wish I were as good as you
Never saw a bike trail video till now. Very sick riding! I could never be able to pull this off ever without busting my ass non-stop lol
That was sick, I must say
How do you not have a million subs yet. You deserve much more
You're an incredible rider.
The fact you weren't screaming the whole time doing that track is mind blowing 😂😂😂😂😂😂
These videos are not good for my anxiety, but I can't stop watching them! lol
Norco Range?
Your new bike or only for a test?
I fear so much wet wood and slab.
I got some little accident because of that.
When I see you rolling on these wet surfaces like they're dry... it's crazy.
Thanks to share those good moment.
That is a Range, correct! This is some older footage from 2019 that I found on my computer. I'm riding the Sight these days.
his drop off and bunny hop technique is on point.
Looks Fun
finally i caught on to something early thats gunna get to 1M
I love that you don't have some shitty house music as a background audio like some sport videos to make it more "epic". It's so much more immersive when you can only hear the bike and the forest, feels like I'm almost riding the bike myself :)
I wish we had forests like this where I live the look is just so much nicer than anything we have
Holy shizzle man! I needa get out to the north shore!!!!
Remember getting invited to a trip back in the UK, we decided to hit a bike trail that was on our path. I should have known better, being a complete newbie to bikes, but my friends found me popping both my tyres on the first jump very amusing.
I wish my asthma would let me do this. That looked like so much fun!
no kidding, this is the kind of trail that would make you feel powerful going down it hahah
Wow, it really looked like there was going to be a wipe out after hitting that tree stump (4:59) , nice save!
Awesome footage! Love watching both you and Dale on RUclips, always stellar videos. P.S. Sweet new Range.
Thanks! The Range is actually from 2019 though. Still trying to clear out old footage :)
@@ddangerousddave nice, I have a 2021 Sight and have really gotten to like it.
Glad to see this footage! Quick question: what PSI you running in your tires? Lower half of Boogieman with the rollers looked slick! Great riding as always! - Cheers
Thanks! In the winter I usually run 19psi front and 21 psi rear in my DHF/DHR combo. That gets bumped up to 21/23 in the summer.
@@ddangerousddave awesome thanks for the reply!
Your style is like trials bike riding. So fun to watch! Can you get a drone so we can see some of the side angles of these features?
