That was me just behind the Gangler. I was trying to get the courage to do it for the first time and I ended up cleaning it about 5 minutes later. It was so cool to see you out in the trails. All my friends went crazy lol.
60 fps is definitely better for the compression algorithms. Pause any fast scene in a 30 fps video and you can see ugly DCT basis blocks. At 60 fps it might be a bit more blurry in low light, but the uploaded videos won't look as corrupted. Hope you don't mind the extra hassle of larger files and rendering time :)
I was inspired by your videos so I took my Commuter Hybrid into the local Watershed and tried some double blacks in my Canadian Tire helmet with t-shirt and shorts. The doctors say they think I'll be able to walk again in the next 4-6 months! Thanks Dave!
That was me getting out of the way at 1:35. I heard something approaching really fast. Seeing him in person was inspiring, motivating and intimidating, all at once.
How do you know these trails like the back of your hand?! Also I wish you had a drone to follow you so we could see your crazy drops and balance on the thin wooded features from different perspectives. Great ride man! Cheers
Haha i was thinking the same thing on some of these parts. I feel like it wont be long until we have drones with follow functions good enough to fly through forests
Always amazed at your control and precision. 50k subscribers, really fantastic. Also one of the most polite dudes on the trails. Thank you for such great content.
The 60fps difference was not significant for me Dave. I love watching your vids; your bike handling skills are amazing. I don't know why you and Dale don't have 500k subscribers yet. Thanks for the video!
These are some of my favorite, but also some of the very best, trail videos on RUclips. It makes me miss the PACNW and all the terrain to offer up there. Love the channel.
Who else always starts thinking about giving up life to become a pro Rider like him while watching those Videos? This looks like most fun you can have…
I think it would be really cool if at some point you did a video that goes over what gear you use currently and why and maybe break down some of the terminology into layman’s terms. I was inspired by these videos to maybe want to try some local beginner trails (not tech trails) but I have no idea what kind of equipment to get to be safe and why I would get it and all I have is a hybrid bike and I know that wouldn’t cut it. Love the videos!
Thanks ddave. 60fps works much better for those of us with crappy internet. I am deep in the woods and the best speed is 2.75 MBps. I can actually see the path on this video. Keep rolling
30fps, 60fps...still ddave, still ddangerously quick. Yeah, I could count the knobs on the Minion, but even if you filmed this with a potato cam it would still be wicked! I like the ‘Nam “INCOMING!” as you approached that rock roll/ladder feature. The boys knew you were charging!
Definitely some of the best footage, quality wise, I have seen from you. The picture was very bright and clear. Maybe give it a try on a darker day and see what happens.
Great riding dude. A few of my favorite trails there, but you ride different lines to me haha. Ladies Only - yes please, Big Stupid - yes please, Upper Oil Can - a masterpiece - but no thanks, Seventh Secret - yes please.
At 60 FPS, this vid is a bit smoother, but I felt a bit motion sick after watching ( not sure why😅). Great ride though! Your solo rides where it’s just you, the forest, & the wild open trail ahead of you are for sure my favorite!😎
As a PC gamer i appreciate the 60fps. I watched this on a 120Hz monitor and it's feels much smoother than your 30fps videos but use whatever is more convenient for you. (30fps = smaller file size etc.) I'm not that picky when it comes to videos i am only picky about games running at sub 60fps.
The footage does look better but nothing game changing, so whatever is easier for you is best. Just curious, what size bike do you run and if it’s not too personal a question how tall are you? I’m looking at going from hardtail to full sus, 29er, and i’m 6ft so just fall into the large size for most brands, but was wondering if i should actually consider a medium given how bikes have grown size a bit over the years
I'm around 5'9 and ride a medium. Bikes have definitely grown. My 2015 Norco Range in medium would probably be close to an extra small today lol. At 6' I'd imagine you'd be more comfortable on a large, but you can always demo some bikes to be sure.
Honestly, FPS does not bother me. I would have used the lower one simply because you also need less space for the movie files. Your vids are good no matter what FPS you use.
Framerate is probably the last thing I think about when watching mtb videos. More important is, "is this getting me stoked to ride or is it just a vlog?" and "Is the rider as dope as the trails?" and "When's second-breakfast?"
@@ddangerousddave ah that makes sense. Was like did he really climb up to 7th twice in a day? Love your vids. Really cool to see someone ride the same trails I do but just absolutely flawlessly blast through them and hit all the features. Gives me confidence to try new stuff
During the video, I had the thought cross my mind that it's interesting to see what difficulty the trail is. I also see a lot of people saying they don't mountain-bike or have never done it, so maybe a quick-list of what means what in the difficulty scale? I've been able to gather that black is the hardest and white is the easiest, but beyond that I'm lost. It would also be helpful to new riders.
Green is the easiest, suitable for beginners, blue is next, suitable for intermediate riders, black is next, suitable for advanced, double black is suitable for expert riders. Ladies only is double black. Upper Oilcan is double black. I remember going down that one and I had to walk most of the trail. The last trail Seventh Secret is a black. I was able to ride most of that trail. Dangerous Dave was able to ride it in 4.5 minutes. It took me 15 minutes. I would consider myself and intermediate to advanced rider.
It's been so long since I started that I can't even remember how I learned certain things, but you can look into something like online coaching/tutorials like www.ryanleech.com/ or GMBN. So many great resources nowadays.

Is 60 fps preferred due to there being twice the information for the compressor to work with?

I would definitely love to see a Follow Cam of you running through these trails at 4K 60FPS so we can see how you navigate through them.

The footage did seem a lot smoother, but don’t feel like you have to film in 60fps because there isn’t always going to be good lighting on the trails.

It's nice to see someone just riding the trails. Sessioning videos drive me crazy; I want to see more of these trails!!
My God those skinnies...I'm really amazed by your skills and precision. Thank you for an amazing footage !
Whenever I need some inspo to make sculptures, I like watching Dave display his mastery of control
I would bet that most people don't have a clue as to the amount of effort and skill put into these trails.
I could see this as an Olympic sport: Timed runs down a mountain trail. Yeah, I’d watch!
One of the best raw riding vids on YT! Damn!
