  • Join me at Chicago O'Hare International Airport on a beautiful Chicago day!
    Enjoy the sights and sounds of one of the busiest airports in the world. You'll see all types of aircrafts made by Boeing, Airbus, etc,..
    Listen to communication between ATC and Pilots in real-time during this video.
    Chicago has some of the best Air Traffic Controllers in the world. There's nothing they can't handle.
    When planes start having a backup, ATC is fast to clear them out and have them on their way to their destination.
    Ladies and gentlemen fastened your seat belts and enjoy your CHICAGO FLIGHTS!!
    Welcome to CHICAGO FLIGHTS!
    * GUIDE TO ATC COMMUNICATION *
    CLEARED FOR TAKEOFF-ATC authorization for an aircraft to depart.
    CLEARED TO LAND-ATC authorization for an aircraft to land. It is predicated on known traffic and known physical airport conditions.
    FLY HEADING (Degrees)-Informs the pilot of the heading he should fly. The pilot may have to turn to, or continue on, a specific compass direction in order to comply with the instructions. The pilot is expected to turn in the shorter direction to the heading unless otherwise instructed by ATC.
    GO AROUND-Instructions for a pilot to abandon his approach to landing. Additional instructions may follow. Unless otherwise advised by ATC, a VFR aircraft or an aircraft conducting a visual approach should overfly the runway while climbing to traffic pattern altitude and enter the traffic pattern via the crosswind leg. A pilot on an IFR flight plan making an instrument approach should execute the published missed approach procedure or proceed as instructed by ATC; e.g., "Go around" (additional instructions if required).
    LINE-UP AND WAIT-Used by ATC to inform a pilot to taxi onto the departure runway to line up and wait. It is not authorized for takeoff. It is used when takeoff clearance cannot immediately be issued because of traffic or other reasons.
    MAINTAIN-Concerning altitude/flight level, the term means to remain at the altitude/flight level specified. The phrase "climb and" or "descend and" normally precedes "maintain" and the altitude assignment; e.g., "descend and maintain 5,000." Concerning other ATC instructions, the term is used in its literal sense; e.g., maintain VFR.
    TRAFFIC-A term used by ATC to refer to one or more aircraft.
    TRAFFIC IN SIGHT-Used by pilots to inform a controller that previously issued traffic is in sight.

    Enjoyed seeing the "string of pearls" from the inbound flights. When I was growing up in Lombard, I would spend warm summer evenings watching the lights headed for Runway 4R as they flew over.

    I just booked my first commercial airline flight a few months out. I have a connection in O’Hare. I’m definitely a little nervous to navigate such a busy airport, but also looking forward to seeing all this in person. These videos are both exciting and calming to watch! Just subscribed!

    And to all this I always love how they have such strict control with the takeoffs and landings that occur in sync, one after the other, wow, I would like to be there one day and do a spotting. really that Chicago eats any other airport in terms of landing and takeoffs, well it is only a little below its older brother Atlanta, these mega airports have a strong battle

    I remember going on a fishing trip when I was young boy with my grandparents driving by O'Hara, I couldn't believe the planes one right after another coming in and taking off. Wonder wich airport has the most traffic?

    You mentioned the FAA mandated retirement age for Air Traffic Controllers @ 56. My question is what is the average age at starting this high stress job and what are the requirements?

    I wonder if why the Chicago airport, having 6 parallel runways and 2 diagonal, still has long queues for takeoffs?

    • @ohareplanespotting
      @ohareplanespotting Год назад +2

      @ Rubén Vilchez Taxiing times can get long especially during rush hour. Even with all the runways, I’ve seen planes waiting in lines to takeoff.

    • @chicagoflights
      @chicagoflights  Год назад +1

      The wait times are not long at all. ATC clears them out extremely fast. By the time the one plane is about to lift off the other plane that is lined up and waiting is cleared for take off. There's more time wasted to taxiing to another runway. 22L was open and some pilots(heavies) didn't mind waiting just for few minutes just to get that full length 13,000 runway even though 22L can accommodate heavies. All those planes you seen lined up where up in the air
      on their way right before the video ended. O'Hare has 6 parallels and 2 Diaganol Rwys and not all runways are open at the same time and the ones that are is adjusted by weather(wind, visibility) noise, time of day. What you seen in this video is a normal occurance at O'Hare at that time of day(Evening Rush).
