    Craig was one of the best late-night hosts ever, Dave Letterman acknowledged this by putting him into his second bought slot. I understand he's moved on since this, but the fact is late-night television hasn't been solid since it's more angled towards political satire. Thanks for asking his views on this and his endeavors for the future. The man is a legend, a great talent and through his own admissions, learned from a lot from mistakes.

    • @fe5018
      @fe5018 5 лет назад +2

      I'm sorry but Craig Kilborn had that slot before Ferguson so I'm afraid I can't buy into that inferred Letterman endorsement/acknowledgement, given the implications.

      @@fe5018 and Tom Snyder had it before Kilborn

    • @fe5018
      @fe5018 5 лет назад +2

      @@spam7797, oh I know, I'm not discounting Snyder, hes just not relevant to what I'm saying. By all accounts Snyder seems to have had a noteworthy show which would support the op's idea of the Letterman acknowledgement. Kilborn is the one that puts a spanner in the works, imo. His show seems so lame and forgettable imo. And he chose to leave! Worldwide Pants were obviously cool with him. I judge Letterman and Lassally for that.

    • @spam7797
      @spam7797 5 лет назад +2

      @@fe5018 OK, I get it. From what I've read and heard, Dave wanted Snyder to do something in the same vein as his "Tomorrow" show, but Snyder had just kind of given up on that type of program. According to Rob Burnett, Snyder had turned "lazy." I remember liking the show and the relaxed vibe, but nothing too specific remains. I think I disagree a bit with you on Lincoln, though. I liked his relaxed, "cool but lame" vibe. I also liked that he was so arrogant and full of himself on the show. That's not a typical look for late night. But vibe and personality projection only gets you so far. There wasn't much to the show beyond what I've mentioned. Craig is obviously the best to occupy that time slot for CBS.

    I still think The Late Late Show is the best late night show in history. The best there was and ther will ever be. Craig Fergusson (and Geoff Peterson) did magic every single night and I miss the shit out of of them. I really and sincerely do. His chats with his guests, awkard pauses, monologues and so on would just crack me up over and over again. They still do when I dive back into old episodes on RUclips. Craig deserves a fucking spot on TV, or on RUclips, or wherever, with total crative freedom to do whatever the fuck he wants, no questions asked.
    Craig, if you ever read this, just know that I really want you back. I love you!

    I'm so glad that this show popped up in front of me on RUclips tonight. I very much like Craig, and it's partly because of his honesty, and I'm thinking of when his parents each died and he opened up about it as well as when he talked about his problem with alcoholism. The thing is that honesty disarms people, breaks down barriers, relieves anxiety, and things like that. Conversely I see comedy often as a defensive activity or one that some people hide behind and you never see who they are. So I think that his honesty greatly supports his comedy, and I hope it continues to bring him much success in the future.

      It's actually a social thing humans will do where they will mimic the accents of people around them. So it makes sense that your accent would come back in full force when visiting your family for a while. You may even sound different when you return to your normal place of living and take a bit to shake.

    Craig is smart, raw and one of the funniest humans ever. After my husbands suicide, I could only watch Craig. I miss his show - how about coming back with a new format Craig? One on one. That would be awesome. Happy trails cowboy. ☮️💟

    Wish Craig would do some kind of special, at the holidays, or something. Life is so much better when you have his style of entertainment to look forward too.

    Craig is definitely one of my favorite hosts. After seeing many of his interviews, book press, etc. it gets to the point for me anyway how interesting he is as an individual. I'm not saying I don't like his personality or views, but it's limiting. I just run out of gas for it. He is however possibly doing tv again in 2023 in a non-interview format discussing current tv shows on the air for the week for 1/2 hour segments.

    I am a HUGE fan of Craig Ferguson's. I so miss his LLS mainly because he is a Renaissance man who knew how to talk to people. Only Craig could get Mila Jovovitch to discuss Russian and Spanish literature on his show. I hope to create a show like Craig's someday, where being an autodidact is cool.

    Miss Craig on late night. He could make the interviews interesting and funny even if the interviewee was boring or had no sense of humor. He had one of a kind elements like the dancing horse and the skeleton and always a great monologue. Just the best. But now I can listen to these pod casts so that's great.

    Craig Ferguson will always stand alone as the greatest host in late-night television history, in my opinion. It was the perfect amount of goofy and sincere, and never crossed the line into being just another glorified sales pitch from an overhyped celebrity. It didn't matter who the guest was, he was going to have his fun... And more often than not the guest would happily play along.
    But in spite of the ridiculousness that often occurred, you would have episodes where serious and thoughtful conversations would happen. The first one that comes to mind is Desmond Tutu, which was one of the greatest television moments ever. Then there was an episode where he discussed (of all things) Moral Particularism with the father-in-law of Claire Danes. As unusual as it was, it was brilliant -- and it showed just how educated and intelligent Craig is.
    When I go back and watch some of those segments on RUclips, which I do fairly often, it makes me genuinely sad because you realize that time in history is gone. We will never return to that place where you can flip on the television at some random hour and be instantly entertained by a smart and hilarious host like Craig Ferguson, nor a place where any real conversation between a host and guest can occur. There's just too much noise and too many cooks in the kitchen.
    For what it's worth, though, the rejection of modern media is sort of what has brought about the podcast revolution, which has allowed for conversations like this to take place. In that sense, it does seem like somewhat of a fair trade... If only for the fact that we can get hour-long discussions between interesting people that aren't interrupted or exploited by corporate interests.
    ... Though with RUclipss increasingly stringent rules on monetization, even this may soon be a thing of the past.
