Tumor Angiogenesis is one of the major hallmarks of cancer. When the tumor signals for sprouting of blood vessels with VEGF it will finally be provided with enough nutrients (O2 and glucose) and the tumor can grow..

But if we inhibit VEGF it thereby enhances hypoxia and promotes cancer cell survival....then why we are using anti angiogenic therapy?

not all types of cancer cells are able to proliferate in hypoxia conditions. It really depends on the type we're dealing with. Besides, if used with other tumor suppressor drugs like chemotherapy, targeting angiogenesis seems to be very promising in controlling the growth of cancer. Once again, we cant use this treatment to control all types of cancer.
