Jacob, even if you never see this it is worth saying. I and many like me first met Jed on your Eastside channel. It is 100% true and without any doubt that I knew of Jed and learned from him directly because of your efforts. Nothing can bring him back, but we knew him because of you and for that you deserve a sincere "Thank You".

What the loss of Jed brought home to me was how important the human connections are. You guys aren't just tree guys that I (we) watch on youtube , or whichever platform, you become our peeps over time. Even if you don't know us, we know you, and develop connections to you and your lives. Thanks Jacob. Oh, by the way, in today's Seattle times there was an ad for your former employer, and there was a picture of the crew with Jed big as life. They kept you in there for a time too.

The best thing we can do to honor them is to try to do better in life and do good by others. I hope this year will be better for all of us.

I know it's too late, but I've been watching this channel for some time now. I really appreciated the dynamic of the personalities and ways these two guys interacted. The "inbred Jed" stuff just showed their deep affection and appreciation. Like a million other people, I too learned so much from them, and always really dug Jed's attitude and demeanor and humility. I don't know either guy, but I'm really bummed that a guy who's taught me so much in this field and given me confidence as a weekend warrior is gone in a flash.
It's really true, the good die young. Others seem to live forever. I'm sad, selfishly for myself but mostly for those close to him and his poor family. Gutted and teary-eyed. You get to thinking you kinda know people you watch all the time and who have an impact in your own life. :(

I run one of the new zigzags and they don't have the rope bump issue. I've also never used the chicane, I've heard it's only there because some guys were getting a slow slip through when srt but either my rope works well with it or I don't weigh enough to make it slip but for me personally I can bounce on it and not have it slip. (For legal reasons that is not advice or a recommendation) lol

Enjoyed the video, Jacob. Nice job rigging for the picks. I swear by the ZigZag. I find it to be the most versitile when it comes to ropes and conditions. It's a "Smooth Operator". I use a bowline to tie back to the ZZ.....keeps the knot away from the ZZ chain avoiding possible scary releases and resulting drops. Like the different camera angles....adds to the viewing pleasure....nice.

The first time I cut cherry wood I was amazed at just how much the wood smells like literal cherry fruit. The first large tree I fell was a sickly black cherry. Where I live we have a lot of cherry but most of the trees don't bear fruit, if they do it's bitter pea sized cherries. Still my favorite tree, they're just beautiful trees. And great firewood, apparently also great for smoking meats.

Who could forget the square filing video? Seems like a great companion to be with! I have an Eastern White and an arborvitae side by each, as a test, and they are in my yard different. First saw arborvitae in the Columbia Gorge where the owner had three sides of his home surrounded by them, as a wind break and wanted to duplicate in extreme northern New York. Eastern White is fluffier at the base. Doesn’t have the small full structure of arborvitae. My house, my weather.
