Ahhh blackcurrant! Oh so nostalgic for me too. My Grandmother was an avid gardener and had a huge allotment with all kinds of fruit, veg and flowers. It fed our family for decades. In particular I remember her berry plants and bushes... strawberries, raspberries, gooseberries and the most plentiful were her blackcurrants. Spent hours as a kid picking them and helping her make them into jams, juices, jellies and stewed blackcurrants to make sweet pies to serve with homemade custard. Blackcurrant leaf scent, or the taste of proper blackcurrant jam or juice takes me right back there 💜
Me too, I have the Pacifica French Lilac and I think it's pretty good. It's still a bit chilly where I'm from. But I have it on my shelf now waiting for a couple weeks when the Lilac blooms come out and it feels more like real spring rather than an extension of a New England winter. But...... it's gloriously sunny today so maybe it's time!!!! Yippee!!!!!
@@petraroos3413 I have that one, too. My lilacs don’t bloom until June (I live in a high elev 6000’ mountain valley), but when they do, their beauty & scent always bring back such sweet childhood memories💜🤗
@@MariaMeliora I got the edp. In a cute travel sized 25 ml bottle. That I'm going to bring with me in my epic, 8 week long summer trip to Turkey and Central Asia. I'm also bringing decants of my vintage Dune by Dior, Ashore by Amouage, In Jardin sur le Nil by Hermes, and I love love, by Moschino. My friends think I'm nuts planning what perfumes I'm bringing. And I probably should just bring one. But meh, I like variety and I'm bringing mostly 7ml decants so it's not that much extra weight or space.
I haven't tried Scentbird, but I was subscribed to Pafory. I only stopped because I had collected all the ones I wanted to try at that time. They are based it Germany and I am in UK. They always dispatched on time (i.e. on my actual renewal date and not after) and they usually arrived in 4 to 5 days
JACQUES FATH is one of THE perfume houses from the 40ies and 50ies. IRIS GRIS is is one of THE perfumes of all time. No judging, but this is essential. This is absolute history ❤
I blind bought $90, 3.4 bottle of SJP’s Covet Pure Bloom (discontinued) as I had almost all of her other fragrances, so thought I may as well add it to my SJP collection. No regrets; it’s rather nice, and kind of different - like a lot of her frags. Also picked up a 7.5ml travel spray of JHAG’s Juliette because I’m still looking for a cherry fragrance that ‘does it’ for me. It’s not a bad perfume, but the search will continue. That’s it, so far this year.
Shame about the Mefisto shower gel. I suppose Cremo's Silver Water and Birch could be a cheap replacement. Both remind me of Silver Mountain Water. Interesting about the apples in Decou-Vert! The accord is actually pretty simple, just fructone with 2 other materials depending on what kind of apple you want, but perhaps it's an apple blossom you're getting? I'll have to check it out. I signed up for scentbird for the first time and not impressed! Some of the ones I want to try are an extra $10 so >$26! I did get a few that I’m happy with. I also had issues with customer service as well.
Yeah same. 8 ml of niche fragrance for >26 is theoretically ok, but they have such high volume they could really at least have some reward point system or discounts for loyal customers. Yet they seem to do the opposite - rack up the prices and remove the perks.
I haven't splurged yet on a Byredo body cream. It's £65 so I think I will have to wait til my birthday. What did I buy this quarter? I picked 6 niche samples that I really wanted to try. And then I bought a fragrance 'edit' from Space NK with 5 great travel sizes and 3 less great discovery sets that I tried (and then gifted to my hubby and colleagues). It was a good way to try a bunch of stuff. I spent £95 in total. Accountability 🤗😂
