  • In this episode we arrive along the Colorado BDR in search of Camping near Steamboat Springs Colorado. The Routt National Forest borders the Medicine Bow National Forest to the North in Wyoming. We were heading South and needed an overnight stop before continuing on to explore a few trails. We found a gem of a spot for Boodocking in Beeler Gulch. This dispersed campsite near Steamboat Springs is off of County Road 129 on Bedrock Creek next to the Middle Fork Little Snake River in Beeler Gulch. This area was stunning with nearby views of Hahns Peak.
We found a cozy campsite with a fire ring and the surprise of a tree swing that someone made and left for future explorers and little campers like our little one. She absolutely loved finding a swing to play on and we did too.

Great idea and we know many are curious about this. We’ve got this on a list of future video ideas, but have to get back out to film them. Right now we’re working hard on editing our next adventure series. No estimate on the release date just yet, but it’s in the works ;) Thanks for watching and keep exploring!

Hey guys nice video. I’m wondering how close to steamboat this was? I live in steamboat and want to overland full time here but struggle to find places

This site was roughly an hours drive from Steamboat. We didn’t have the same luck on our second attempt as you can see in our follow on video: ruclips.net/video/HedaA1Jfg3c/видео.html
Make sure to read up on dispersed camping stay limits, which vary slightly in each National Forest, if considering full time. Best of luck and thanks for watching!

Hey guys, another nice video, thanks for sharing. Quick question, you mentioned weather was cold and hit 30⁰ one night. At what point with your camper do you worry about the water tank and lines freezing? Is there any insulation in the patriot camper? We are scheduled to pick ours up next week and that was one of my concerns at elevation this time of year.

Hi Bill, thank you and thanks for watching! We have spent some pretty cold nights in the X1-H. That being said, those were nights that ‘dipped’ below freezing. We’ve not had lines freeze, but there is no insulation on the water lines and the tanks are also not insulated. If you were planning on spending extended periods in below freezing temps, it would be wise to purge the tanks/pressurize system and blow out the lines to prevent damage.
We also keep a spare pack of John Guest British-pipe-thread plastic push-to-connect pipe fittings. We have had a couple of these crack on us (not temperature related), so we keep spares on hand for speedy field repairs. Your dealer should be able help with these.
