  • Anna described this ride as "Getting back to the grind". It was our first high alpine ride in over a year. To be fair, we were building out the van and eating lots of doritos.
So to call the climb to the summit a "brutal, never ending tech fest" would be an understatement. But man, is it worth it!
The wildflowers were in full bloom, making every insufferable peddle worth it. I honestly can't believe this fact alone doesn't put this ride at the top of the list for many.
And the descent. Oh man. It's pretty rare that a backcountry, high alpine ride is made specifically for mountain bikes, but here it is! It's not perfect, but the trail crew certainly put in effort to direct this trail towards some really interesting features!
If you're in Steamboat to ride bikes (which you should totally make happen) you should convince yourself that the climb will be worth it for a rompin descent down Soda Mountain!

Seriously a sick ride :) I felt like I was going to biff it several times just watching you.

Haha. I feel like that means my riding was just that sketchy then! 😜

@@DustyTrailsMTB dude the more I watch your vids the more I'm just impressed with your riding. Seriously you inspire me. I got a few months till I can ride again but I'm loving the sport through your rides.
If you ever decided to do unedited videos on a second channel I'd watch every one. Your edits are usually really clean, but I'm weird in that I'd watch completely unedited stuff, even the climbs, even if you didn't talk at all. Being unable to ride means I have to rely on videos and sometimes I finish one wanting more of that one

It would be great. I was in CO this year (passed by Steamboat Springs) and the altitude killed me. I'm just not in shape to do any alpine climbs.
