Sure, I'm not the fastest or chattiest of the bunch. But I like to get straight to the trail so that you might get an idea of what your experience will be like when you hit up the same trail.
My aim thus far has been to showcase the trail itself. Before I would go out on rides, I found myself looking on RUclips for videos of the trail I wanted to hit. I found that there were 3 types of videos:
1: Low quality uploads by people who could ride like me, but couldn't edit or didn't have access to the video equipment I have.
2. Videos by guys who could send the trail at Mach speeds; which made it hard for me to know how difficult the trail actually was.
3. Video blogs where the trail wasn't the focus of the video. I love following these types of channels, but sometimes I just want to cut straight to the trail riding itself.
I'm trying to find my spot, and having fun doing so.

Prepare To Die (And Go To MTB Heaven?) Riding Wenatchee, Washington's Best Trails!
Man, It feels good to be back in the North West! Quick question: Does Wenatchee count as the PNW?
Anna and I are taking the Van back up to Squamish, but had to stop for at least a few rides in Washington!
We heard so many good things about Prepare to Die ( An amazing Ode to The Princess Bride) that we had to make the trip to see for ourselves. (Thanks for the recommendation @TheVantasticLife!)
From Huge Rock Slabs, to Massive Wildflower Gardens and Scary Road Gaps, #2 Canyon had everything I want in a trail system!

This Place Rocks : A Guide to the Best Trails at Jakes Rocks
Просмотров 42721 час назад
I've been told that Jakes Rocks is home to the BEST MTB trails in PA - and I can see why! Anna and I have been doing the ol' #vanlife thing for two years now - mountain biking in North America's top bike destinations - and Jakes Rocks is high on the list of most scenic bike destinations in the East - for sure. The ferns, the tall trees, the giant rocks, the bear encounters; all of these things ...
How Hard IS Pisgah's Hardest Sanctioned MTB Trail? | Bennett Gap
Просмотров 88014 дней назад
When you think of riding bikes in North Carolina, you think of Pisgah. Pisgah National Forest is a spider web of world class trails like Avery Creek Trail, Black Mountain, and of course, Bennett Gap. I'd seen snippets of this trail in videos, and it looked hard. So, I had to see for myself, if I had the skills to tackle some of the famous rock gardens and tech moves that this trail was known fo...

They are the must-do rides for a reason - so if you're in North Carolina to ride bikes, you best not skip out on these bangers. 00:00 Intro 00:26 Climbing Up Upper Upper Black Mo...

They call it "The Mountain Bike Capital of the WORLD". Those are some bold claims. It's smart marketing really. Because you either buy into it, or, like me, you have to go see for yourself. After spending the last year living out of our van, Anna and I have biked all over North America. From Moab, Utah to Pisgah, North Carolina; from Killington Vermont to Squamish and Whislter up in BC, we've g...
I've Been Scared of This Trail For Years; and For Good Reason | Hangover Trail - Sedona, AZ
Просмотров 633Месяц назад
When I first arrived in Sedona in 2023, I had no intentions to ride the big 3 H's: High on The Hogs, HiLine, and Hangover. I set out on my first ride down Slim Shady to Templeton and was absolutely stoked at the quality of trail. Instantly, it made sense why so many people raved about the Sedona MTB scene. The Rock was grippy, and the geology made for clean rolling g lines between layers of roc...

I ate S#!T in the Poop Chute! Seriously, these are some of the most unforgiving rocks I've ever mountain biked on. I kinda wished I owned a Downhill bike for some of these trails. My Trail Bike handled Snake Back just fine! But Armageddon and Poop Chute pushed both Me, and my Fuel EX to the limits. The Prettiest (and SCARIEST) MTB Trail in Las Vegas? Biking Brohemian Rhapsody

I had to ride Brohemian Rhapsody, if for no other reason than the fact that it's the best named trail in Vegas! This trail was part Portal Trail, part Captian Ahab, but also totaly unique. If you don't like exposure, you might not enjoy this one. But if you love amazing rock work, and incredible geology, then you would be making a huge mistake by skipping this one. Biking The Best Downhill in Las Vegas! Bone Shaker + Kibbles-N-Bits

Early on in our #vanlife journey, we were told by some bike shop employees in Sedona of all places, that the best mountain biking in the SouthWest was Las Vegas. It was hard to believe, I mean, what can top Sedona? But according to this bike shop crew, the downhill miles were plentiful, and it wasn't a grind to the top. Somehow, I found the one trail that grinds to the top. Kibbles-N-Bits is a ...

Suffering Up for that Sweet Sweet Scottsdale DownHill | Biking East End and Bell Pass
Просмотров 6822 месяца назад
Colin has a special skill for picking rides that require a high level of suffering. I love him for it. The descents are always well worth the sweat equity it takes to reach the top, and I'm always grateful for that sweet Arizona chunk on the way down. Riding East End and Bell Pass requires one to hike-a-bike up Tom's Thumb, past the tourists and into what I would consider Scottsdale Backcountry...

Stop braking in the corners
@@blakeNelson-h8c I know. I need to learn how to corner. 🤦♂️
This trails is amazing
This entire region was so special! It was nice to be out on a ride with such incredible views!
@@DustyTrailsMTB 😇👍🏻
So glad you checked this one out! Such a fun trail 😊
Thanks for the recommendation! I'm excited to show off Xanadu next!
@@DustyTrailsMTB Nice! I'd love to ride those trails again!
Are you out here for the rock rolls and road gaps? Or those wild flowers!?
💐 😍
Yes!
Awesome video! Nice riding
Thanks bud! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I hope you got to enjoy the trail as well!
Wtf are those handlebars/stem?
haha. These things are so polarizing! They are the Bontrager RSL bars that came stock on my Trek Fuel EX 9.8 (Gen 6)
@@DustyTrailsMTB oh lol. They looked kinda goofy at first but if they save weight.
@@owenstauff1856 I like the way they look. But I understand why so many people think they look awful. You're not alone! LOL
@@DustyTrailsMTB yeah true
Hold up, wait a minute. You saw a bear on a trail named Ursus? That's like a scene in a movie that's too unbelievable to be true. :-) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ursus_(mammal) Great video! I've never heard of this trail system, but it's been added to my bucket list, those rocks are unreal, where did they even come from?
Right!? I was so amped on seeing a bear like a trail named after the little bud! This place was sick. I hope they continue to build out here and take advantage of the giant rocks a little more.
How and hell, you guys have lot of balance
Minute 3:30, wtf is that guy riding a hardtail with a rigid fork?! F**king legend...
Right dude!? Like, how does he still have functional joints?
Beutiful forest
Man, this looks sick! We are taking a road trip to Boston to visit family soon and I might have to make this a stop! And also make a few bouldering stops on the ride 😂
I just put in all the destinations on Google Maps, and it says you should do it! Looks like its not too bad of a detour, and the trails are super fun!
@@DustyTrailsMTB I just checked it out and yeah not too bad! Now just to convince my GF that its a GREAT idea to let me do that on the drive there haha!
It's too bad Jake's Rocks still has the same problem. Just very straight trails with few fun turns
Have you ridden here? Because I am wondering if other people see the potential here as well. I see you're from the PNW, and this place could learn a lot from the PNW or Quebec! I see no reason there aren't more ladders and bridges and skinnies connecting some of these massive boulders!
@@DustyTrailsMTBthis is my local trail and we love coming here. It’s a pretty new organization and they’re slowly upgrading it. I can’t wait till they get a pump track or proper bike park
@@MydNitQ ah man! I'm glad to hear they are upgrading! This place was so fun. They've clearly put a lot of thought and hard work into this place. I hope the trail builders get a chance to visit Trails like Neilson Nord in Quebec, or something out in Alice Lake or the North Shore of Vancouver before they get to work. If they could take inspiration from these places, and make trails with the rocks you guys have there, this place would have some legendary trails!
Yay! Been looking forward to this one.
I had a version where I called you out by name, but it got cut due to timing. 😢 I hope you still managed to enjoy it!
I need to ride more bikes in PA! What other gems are you guys hiding from us!?
Frick Park in Pittsburgh is pretty great
Alsea is the BOMB!💣 An amazingly crafted gem! Thanks Team Dirt!🙏😉
The drive to Alsea falls is so beautiful, probably one of the best roads in Oregon as well as the trail. 👍
You said you fell...why? That's why they came back
Well done learning to ride Squamish and over coming your fears Bro! Having ridden there for years and had my fair share of "learning experiences", there is nothing better than having a coach like Wade to give you pointers on how to ride better! Best of luck on your continued success!
That stem bar thing is mad
That is insane skills in my opinion
Getting every dollar worth outta that fork
Google mountain bike accidents. So many permanent injuries. Cliff jumping has better injury stats.
Is your icon a picture of a motorcycle? I mean, google motorcycle accidents. Those are numbers I don't want to mess with! I guess we all have our own thing! 😁
Good stuff man. I agree with your assessment on the climb, for Buckwheat/Bennet or Avery Creek climbing Clawhammer to Upper Upper is the way to go, but I do think it takes longer-if anyone cares about the fastest route.
That way gets you the awesome descent from the top of upper-upper black to club gap, Avery creek and buckwheat.
crazy, the camera really doesnt due this one justice!
Farlow Gap is the roughest trail in Pisgah
Well damn. Now I need to come back!
@@DustyTrailsMTB Honestly not worth it. It is mostly rated harder because of the deadly creek crossings, and the climb SUCKS.
@@DustyTrailsMTBas far as sanctioned trails go, Farlow Gap is definitely more challenging. Pilot Rock in Mills River and Beehive in Wilson Creek are at least in same ballpark.
@christhompson4542 I need to look into all of Wilson Creek. I hear that's the Zone!
@@DustyTrailsMTBit’s amazing. Better than Brevard IMO if you can deal with it very off the grid. No cell, power, water, houses, gas stations… nothing but forest and trails.
Another classic 🤘
😳
Yes…..But is it as Tough as Value Added, Penthouse Slab, Don’t Tell Jeremy and K-Line???
Not even a little bit.
Trail so technical I crashed in my kitchen watching it.
🤣 nice. I hope you were wearing a helmet.
Is this the toughest trail in Pisgah? Or is there something else I should check out next time?
Farlow Gap was more chunky but less fun.
@hstravis I shoulda gone on that ride with you, but I don't think I could have handled the mileage! 😅
@@hstravis Second this to the T. Farlow ate my bike and we both wrecked on my last ride there...made for good content though haha!
@WanderingWheeliesMTB oh I missed that one! I'll have to check that video out
@@DustyTrailsMTB i ate shit on the rock drop haha! luckily we both just had scrapes on bruises for the most part! But yeah, i wont be riding Farlow for a long time. Would much rather hit Bennet at this point
Entrails kicked my butt today dude! Haha! Enjoyed this!
I rode it yesterday, and struggled HARD! It's such a tough gatekeeper!

Lol!!

Any recommendations for ebike friendly trails? Making a loop from Colorado Springs, through twin lakes area to vail, then winter park next month
I haven't been home to CO in a minute, so I'm not sure how their policies on e-bikes have changed. I do know they weren't super friendly towards e-bikes in the past. I can ask some friends for suggestions.
I love to do that Avery, then back up to Black combo when camping at Davidson River. It makes for a pretty dang close to a perfect ride.
Nice! You were crusin! I'm going to check out this route soon and cant wait!
Heck yeah dude! This ride is mint! You can also get to the bottom of Avery and head back up to Bennet. Tho that trail is sooo rowdy that it would be harder to hang on towards the end!
I was wondering if you ever came in contact with the cactus. That look very painful.
I've come in contact with a few cactuses now! I was pulling this one out of my shoulder for a bit! 🙃
👏 Your videos amaze me and also terrify me!
Thanks! That basically sums up mountain biking for me!
This is why I'll never hike this trail, lol. Nice to finally get to see it :)
Why hike it when you can bike it!?
It was awesome meeting you! Hope you continue to travel and bike! 🎉
It was awesome meeting you too Tyler! Way to shred bud! That sneaky one hander on the step up was inspiring!
Hey man First off EXCELLENT video! I live right at the top of the bone yard and berm creek, I ride here daily and I’m gonna tell ya that you absolutely shredded our trails! Watching you in this video I can’t believe you were scared of those two little gaps on skid marks lol because you’re ability of skill is way stronger than those two baby gaps, but i was stoked to see you ended up hitting them! Next time your in town hit me here or Marcus Gillaspia on strava and I’ll shred with ya. You missed the best jumps out here - barn burner!
Dude! What a spot to live eh? You've got yourself something special there! I appreciate the compliment, but I think the gopro hides a lot of my poor technique! But I had a blast! I actually rode Barn Berner, but couldn't figure it out! I was casing everything, or just getting g otherwise wonky. I was going to include it in the video for humility's sake, but ended up cutting it for time. I need to keep working on my jumps. Seems like bentonville is a good spot for that 🤔
Dont walk on a mountainbike trail
those were his friends coming back for him
How difficult is the top section?
There are a few really tricky parts with - I would say- pretty serious consequence. But those sections are all pretty walkable. Still don't let the GoPro affect fool you the trail in its entirety is difficult, steep and chunky. It's a Colorado Backcountry black diamond. But it's manageable and beautiful and fun
Love this one. Definitely taking notes for a trip this fall.
Heck yeah, dude! Where are you coming from?
@@DustyTrailsMTB Western CO near the San Juans.
Really fun video as always! You guys rode SO many trails!! Awesome job on Drop the Hammer too. Smooth!!
Thanks bud! Lots of action to be had in AR. But I can't take any credit for the smooth line down Drop the Hammer. The trail is just so well built, there is no other possible outcome really!
Fayetteville has great trails also at centennial and Kessler
I heard! But we have already left unfortunately! Next time tho, for sure!
Hey what’s up Dustin 🙌🏼… dude you came to Bentonville and didn’t give me a jingle? Just kidding brother, I’m still dealing with neuropathy crap , unfortunately 😢. Either way you rode a great amount of trails here (main ones). If you didn’t, make sure you ride at Hobbs and Devils Den. So much fun!!! Thanks for you two slaying some of bentonvill’s finest. 😊. Have a great trip out there 👍🏼
Dude! I totally should have! To be honest, I couldn't remember if you were based in Bentonville or in the front range of CO, considering how much rad content you push from there! Heal up bud! I'll let you know next time I swing through!
