Sidecar racers are some of the ballsiest people in racing. Right up there with ice racing. Special kind of crazy to do that stuff.
You can say that again. I saw these guys at the TT Assen track, and just like Jay had a loss of control so did one of those drivers that day. Unfortunately the monkey got tossed out and onto the track, and before he knew it he got ran over by one of the racers behind them. That sidecar monkey unfortunately lost his life that day.

ps. Just so you know... that impact sound is something you could hear across the entire circuit. It still makes me cringe evertime I hear it. R.I.P. Sandor Pohl

Way to go Jay! I gotta tell ya, in all seriousness, I've been watching you for decades but I'm a bigger fan than now than I ever was.
My only time at the TT was 2016 and I marshalled every race and practice. There were a couple of deaths that year from the sidecar family. I loved them as much as the super bikes. When I was marshalling at the Mountain box the senior marshal gave me some valuable advice - when a bike rider has trouble and pulls in here do not go up to them right away to talk talk to them - side car guys - well they are just crazy and you won’t have trouble going up to them right away haha. They are a great group for sure.
That was pretty cool! I have seen side car races on TV but not as up close as this! The close up's where great!

4:48 - I'm a big lad like Mr. Leno and when I raced Karts in the UK back in the 1970's, I'd often feel the crutch/crotch of my racing leathers being 'plucked' by the tarmac once the kart's seat had worn through on the track's 'dips'. Great times - I wish I could revisit them...

Man that looks like so much fun! I consider myself a great sports bike rider, I've gone to Angeles Crest, maxing out my ZX6RR but this looks like I would love to try. Jay' your pretty amazing and always impress with what ever you drive and or ride. Great skills Jay.

Agreed, don't like the overly dramatic stuff.
This is really great fun, though I also still prefer the RUclips way of doing stuff on JLG. I think Jay's warmth and personality, knowledge and interest comes through far better in that format which is very watchable and unique. I don't think turning this stuff into generic tv action stuff really makes it any better - but I appreciate that maybe the idea is to expand the audience base.

When I picked up my first outfit after the sidecar had been attached to my 1950 Matchless 500 single, the sidecar specialist asked me had I ridden one before (no). He then pointed to the garage door opposite his shop and there was a big dent in it. He said that was the last guy...who despite leaning very hard, just drove straight into it. He gave me some pointers and off I went. How I got home in one piece, I'll never know. But I quickly grew to love sidecar outfits. Best ride ever was driving up to my wife's parents place in the country (in Oz) with her in the chair, at night. We somehow ended up having a race with an 18 wheeler semi-trailer and we were surprisingly evenly matched. He could overtake me on the long straights and I got him on the corners. Insane fun. :-)

I appreciate these clips because I don't have cable (that's an archaic form of viewing shows for anyone who doesn't know what cable is), but I got to say that I like your YT channel better. I still enjoy it though.
We had a day here in New Zealand recently where for $10 NZ you could be the "Monkey" (or 'swinger' as we call it here) & do laps of a local track with the regular rider/pilot. Was an amazing experience & bloody terrifying too - a couple of guys go "tossed off' on RH corners! haha
