- This rare, live performance of one of Frank's most famous songs was divided into segments, with other songs performed in between each verse. So I edited those other songs out in order to present a (fairly) smooth, continuous rendering of the song.
how ironic. i was 17 when this was performed and now i’m in the autumn of my years.
I was thinking the same thing, but I'm transitioning into my winter years.
You've lived-thru a few great decades of music. (me too😉)
@@continentalgin Hopefully by the time "winter" comes you'll be able to gently smile to yourself. Memories and experiences unique to your generation. 🤙
@@KOLDBLU3ST33L Bill Hayley's Rock Around The Clock was a hit record when I was born in 1955. I've witnessed the entire history of rock and roll music!
I just turned 70. I have been thinking how much more relevant this song has become for me.
I remember riding in my dad's Chrysler New Yorker in 1965 listening to this song with him on the day my father turned 35. It was a very good year.
I'm black
I'm 50 years old
And I love Frank Sinatra's music ❤️
Billie Holiday was a major influence on Frank Sinatra, most of all as far as the phrasing is concerned. He recorded with Count Basie thrice and Duke Ellington once, and don't forget the _I Remember Tommy_ album with Sy Oliver! Frank was in visible, palpable awe of stupendous Ella, and he had Harry 'Sweets' Edison especially flown in for studio sessions because he loved his trumpet sound. Do you know his Columbia recording of _Sweet Lorraine_ with the Metronome All Stars (Charlie Shavers, Lawrence Brown, Johnny Hodges, Coleman Hawkins, Harry Carney, Nat "King" Cole, Bob Ahern, Eddie Safranski, Buddy Rich)? And we remember very vividly all the entertaining moments with Sammy Davis Jr.
The arrangement on this track is sublime, and matched by the incomparable voice of Sinatra.
I am also in the Autumn of my years at 76..Thanks for all the great memories both good and not so good..Sometimes you do not know how great things were back then ..until you compare how things are today..
Well said, 555ss.
да.да,да....
всю жизнь люблю творчество Синатры.
We are listening to perfection!
Well done, Fred. The Chairman in full command. There is not a contemporary singer alive that could hold an audience like that.
Very true, Adam.
Only a few true artists come to center stage with such presence and staying power.
Balance his eloquent phrasing (anybody remember the Hoboken Five?), with the best orchestration money could buy and you can see why he reigned for so long.
As a young lad, I adopted the song as a life "template", to savor as much of life within the scant time I was allotted, constantly taking mental snapshots, to review in the "Autumn of my years"!
And he’s sitting with me at the table when I’m in black necklaces. This performance
Not even close…..only 1 Frank - sure there are other excellent singers and artists - but nobody will ever be in The Chairman’s league. Imagine how many nights he would sell out in Madison Garden if he was to come back from the dead….10? 20?
I like that, I feel like I did that same thing. Love love love this song and I have never seen him perform it, so thank you Fred! @@nealbradleigh5069
One of the most introspective songs ever written/and or performed...I remember being Very young when I first heard it, and for some reason I remember being silent while it played on our tube radio in our 61 pontiac...It was a very good year!!
Looks and sounds great for 50 years old and live with that times technology n all that partying drinking smoking he did n his voice is still so smooth n powerful
The chairman of the board
Ole blue eyes had no equals
played this at my beloved Dads funeral brings tears to my eyes 40 years after he loved Frank
Very poignant, a fave of mine. Thank you, Fred. This song takes me from my childhood years to my current much older years. And how things have changed. It is sad to me that I have lost 4 siblings, joining mom and dad in heaven. Oh, how I miss them so.
That's a lot of loss, Jeff. Hang in there until you join them.
@@FredFlix Thanks Fred! I appreciate you.
I always loved hearing Frank sing that song, but it makes me sad every time I hear it. Thanks for the memories, Fred!
Rest in peace Mr Sinatra. There will never be another like Francis Albert. ❤
My mom and dad loved to listen to Frank Sinatra. I love to listen to Sinatra and remember sitting with my mom and dad. They are with God and Frank
Truly is Sinatra's Song. Other Vocalists may cover it but only FRANCIS ALBERT makes it real. Chilling to see him sing it at a "young looking fifty" to the later years of the bulging Tuxedo and White-Gray hair. Got to see him in '91, breathing the same air. A very special night. Poured himself a drink from the bar wheeled on stage and bummed a smoke from a Lady in the front row!
We used to think how old he was looking then. Now it's the opposite.
It's like the 68 Elvis concert. We thought he was over the hill but he was still in his prime.
I was born in 1965 and this to me is utter perfection . What an artist . RIP Mr Sinatra 🙏
How time flies…so quickly,I had a very good year❤
Perfect! 👏 This song reminds me to be thankful for all the years that I’ve lived.
Thank you Fred.
I've searched for years for Sinatra performing this great song live!
You're welcome, Grey.
You just get better and better. I remember when this song came out. It was a very good year.

I sure did love listening and watching this video... A excellent performance and an excellent job with your editing!
THANK YOU SO MUCH 💓
No crazy lights, pyrotechnics, 10 people singing or dancing. Just musicians and him.
ONE OF THE BEST SONGS OF ALL TIME!!!
A master-piece performance, thank you !
You're welcome, bgm.
Beautiful edit! Thank you🎶 This is one of my favorites of his.
It was fun to edit, LM.
Superbly done, Fred. The song has extra poignancy for me, considering my age and the fact that I'm on the verge of retirement.
you dont have to retire or worry about your age. nostalgia and melancholy not a good idea.just a song....beautiful but you have to not get too into the memories
beautifuly done fred! i always liked this song by him. my favorite of his though is ''summer wind'' thank you for sharing this!
Summer Wind is a great one, Rob.
@@FredFlix True Nelson Riddle did a fantastic job of arranging that album
No one can or ever could tell a story like Mr Sinatra. The emotion and his way around a lyric is unmatched. We were given a gift in so many ways and his music will transcend time. He came from nothing, but left this earth a better place, never forgetting where he came from, and anonymously helped out many who were struggling late in their careers. Thank you Sir!
You're welcome, Joseph. Nice comment.
Fred-thank you so much for re-editing this performance as just this one song-one of the most beautiful records ever made!!! Simply The Chairman of The Board at his absolute finest!!!👍👍🌟👏😎❤️🎤🎼🎧🤗🥇🏆SUPERB!!!
You're most welcome, James.
@@FredFlix Indeed-A classic track!!!
Class A editing Fred. The song always made me think about my life. Now I am in the Autumn of my life and the song is even more powerful. Frank Sinatra was a legend that cannot or ever will be duplicated.

This is so good. I get a bit misty when hearing this song.
Thanks for this fantastic edit !
This was on the jukebox at the enlisted men's club in 1966 at an Army base in the Virginia mountains where the Marine Corps 2nd Tank Battalion held winter survival training. In the 2 weeks we were there I must have heard this song 500 times.
A classic track from Frank. I’ve included it on a few of my playlists.
Beautifully nostalgic song by the Chairman. He could make songs most meaningful by the his narrative style of singing.
Best compilation ever 🎶🖤
Such a smart idea to do this Fred. Very nicely edited. A lovely song, perfectly delivered by the boss of bosses.
You are a person of rare taste, Ferdie.

One of my relatives made a compilation CD for my dad's sister (RIP) and her husband on their 50th anniversary a decade or so ago, and this song was on it. I really like this song, it was one of my favorites on the compilation.
I love this tune and hearing it on the Sopranos at the beginning of season 3 just did it for me! Love Frank 💯
Its the beginning of season 2 the beginning of season 3 was the daily routine through the eyes of the fbi

Makes me cry. So beautiful
That was great the way you put that together. Very classy performance with the orchestra. Frank's voice was immaculate
Glad you liked it, BT.
@@FredFlix That was very well done. Any way to hear it with the other songs? Sounds really interesting.
@@rodneystanger1651 You mean the other songs he sang in between the verses? That wouldn't work in this case.
@@FredFlix Thanks for getting back. Okay then, I just thought it was a medley or something. Frank live is always a treat.
My very Sinatra song. I get chills!!!
My favorite FS tune.

One of Sinatra's best recordings in a long career.

THANK YOU, perfect!
Nice job on the edits, thanks

A friend of Franks told a story about Frank and the Rat Pack when they were all doing their act together on the strip. He said it was early morning and he had the windows open in his hotel room when he heard noises outside. He was mostly awake anyway so he opened the door, stood there, and found it was the Rat Pack and they were all walking fast. It was so early in the morning and the guys were moving with such urgency that their buddy had to ask what the heck is going on. He said Joey Bishop turned around and said: "Franks up." Frank was the King.
Wow!
@@FredFlix I know, bro, Frank wasn't even there and was still being a badass. That brother was one of a kind.
