you and I could hang for a beer or two TFTB! I always lean into finding out if bands are singing in the original key. Interestingly, the king of that is the guy that sang on their first single, Bryan Adams. Google anything he's done in the last 20 years and he's still in the original key. Now our other friends from Canada, Loverboy...I'm just a total slappy for that band but they're singing a full two notes down from original and it's sounds out of whack. Props to Glass Tiger and this terrific gal that's singing with them. Great stuff and great comment!
@@BobSince1981 Very few rock singers. Trained singers...like the crooners could. Tony bennett never really lost his voice until he hit 80 years old. This effort you hear on this video. he out of key..flat and cannot hit most of the notes. Typical rock singer. Most of them never sang properly from the start. that's why they stink when they age.
Even more interesting, Ben, is that although he's been in Canada for almost 50 years, he's NEVER lost his Scottish accent, it's like he never left Scotland.
It's not just GT and this song, it's that whole era---the last true great songs period, which bled some into the 90s, too. But the last 25 years or so overall have lost the sound of simple lyrics, great tunes, and a dynamite vocal to top it all off. This song is basically the chorus and 2-3 sentences. But it not only says so much, but resonates in memory even four decades later, and is no way out of date either. Bravo.
If I closed my eyes and didn't know the year this was performed I would think it happened in the 80's. He sounds fantastic. This song still gives me chills. Very impressed with the vocals.
His voice never changes. Wow! I'm still in love with these Guys. Some people here in my country doesn't know their other songs that are worth listening to. Being in the 40's now I still have the cassette tape version lol
Lets be honest its completely different I am sorry but if it sounded like this back then I never would have been a fan but your voice changes with age he even has a girl singing his high notes lol
So glad they chose to replicate the background synth instrumentals of the 80s instead of trying to "update" it with just stripped down electric guitars and pianos like so many 80s acts playing their songs live today ... stick to the sythns people, thats the charm of the 80s !
Amazing, fabulous band / singer. Alan’s voice is dynamite. I have been a huge fan since 1986. Never get tired of listening to these iconic classic songs. Simply the best. Love, Love this band. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ AMAZING, FANTASTIC 🎼👏👏👏❤️❤️🎶🎶
I remember this back in 1986. I was a teenager. This was of my favorite songs. Glass Tiger forever. May we always be young and adventurous as back then.
❤😊 Just saw Glass Tiger last week at Casinorama in Orillia Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 and they still got it!! 🎶 Remember Alan had a stroke in 2015 with damage to his right side... This was just a few years after. 👏🏻. They are all great! ❤
This is one of my favorite gems of my childhood. Every time this comes on, which is rare anymore, it brings me back to 1986 and those feelings and memories come flooding back. Awesome job guys, you’re one of the greatest of your era!
I remember hearing the first time hearing this song. Sitting in a bar! It came on, I heard Alan’s voice and ran to the jukebox to see who this was. Instant fan💕
Loved Glass Tiger 30 years ago and Love them more now.. Will always be a huge fan!! You are the very Best Band Canada has had..and still going strong!! Love You All!!💗💗💗💗
This song brings me right back to 1989, and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; I heard the lead singer's interview as I did my homework and thought: "What a nice guy and what a GREAT voice...." Thanks SO much for uploading!!!
Anyone who can sing in original key over 30 years later deserves recognition. There's very few that can
As soon as I heard it start in the original key 😎👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

One of the Best of the '80.
Golden decade!!!
It's extremely rare for a singer to keep the exact same voice for over 35 years. This man has talent.
dont be so silly
Even more interesting, Ben, is that although he's been in Canada for almost 50 years, he's NEVER lost his Scottish accent, it's like he never left Scotland.
Touring belting every night burns your voice . He hasn’t done that He had health issues .
Yeah except..he was out of key most of the song
With his age and health issues cause sometime back didnt he have a minor stroke ? he sounds awesome
Take me back to 1986 please!
Yes! My best year on earth. Senior in high school.

I keep hearing this comment on just about every 80s singer. It's clearly a few octaves lower but good. But I'll take this over playback any day.
Lets be honest its completely different I am sorry but if it sounded like this back then I never would have been a fan but your voice changes with age he even has a girl singing his high notes lol

Kudos to that backing vocalist. She really brought the sound and melody out very well.
Clearly singing live over the album track. That being said, Alan Frew doesn't sound bad for 62.
This song brings me right back to 1989, and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; I heard the lead singer's interview as I did my homework and thought: "What a nice guy and what a GREAT voice...." Thanks SO much for uploading!!!
