you and I could hang for a beer or two TFTB! I always lean into finding out if bands are singing in the original key. Interestingly, the king of that is the guy that sang on their first single, Bryan Adams. Google anything he's done in the last 20 years and he's still in the original key. Now our other friends from Canada, Loverboy...I'm just a total slappy for that band but they're singing a full two notes down from original and it's sounds out of whack. Props to Glass Tiger and this terrific gal that's singing with them. Great stuff and great comment!

@@BobSince1981 Very few rock singers. Trained singers...like the crooners could. Tony bennett never really lost his voice until he hit 80 years old. This effort you hear on this video. he out of key..flat and cannot hit most of the notes. Typical rock singer. Most of them never sang properly from the start. that's why they stink when they age.
It's extremely rare for a singer to keep the exact same voice for over 35 years. This man has talent.

The backup singer is spot on as well. Alan still has it.
It's not just GT and this song, it's that whole era---the last true great songs period, which bled some into the 90s, too. But the last 25 years or so overall have lost the sound of simple lyrics, great tunes, and a dynamite vocal to top it all off. This song is basically the chorus and 2-3 sentences. But it not only says so much, but resonates in memory even four decades later, and is no way out of date either. Bravo.

I keep hearing this comment on just about every 80s singer. It's clearly a few octaves lower but good. But I'll take this over playback any day.

So glad they chose to replicate the background synth instrumentals of the 80s instead of trying to "update" it with just stripped down electric guitars and pianos like so many 80s acts playing their songs live today ... stick to the sythns people, thats the charm of the 80s !

This is one of my favorite gems of my childhood. Every time this comes on, which is rare anymore, it brings me back to 1986 and those feelings and memories come flooding back.
