Here's a prime example of the 80's and today. In the 80's I used to ride my skateboard around my middle school whenever I wanted to when school was out. In the summer I would see a couple of teachers and we would wave to each other and sometimes talk. Most doors were not locked. Went by the other day and there were locked gates, doors, a security guard and signs saying if you don't have a pass then you are trespassing ! It is sad that this is what society has come to, I miss the good ol' days of the 80's !!!!!
Really ! I remember we used to go to the school on weekends or after hours and one would take a basketball or football and we'd play. That same school has been locked with a large iron bar gate for about 20 years now.
It's partly because we used to "trespass" and skateboard, play footy, ride our BMXes across surfaces, that they went to locking and banning. Most of us did no damage, but a minority that we always saw and ignored, did graffiti, climb roofs, break windows and assorted young criminal shit. Over time, the insurance got too much for many schools, so they gated up. And of course, as a certain - highly troublesome - demographic expanded, even that kind of security wasn't enough.
This song takes me right back to the dance party days when you had to build up the courage to ask a girl to dance with you. The rejections, the wins, awesome times. Thanks for the memories!!!

One thing about the 80's is that you will always recognize them in terms of fashion, you'll never be left off wondering if the video is from the 70's, the 90's, the 00's or the 10's
@@EuropeanQoheleth Not too worried about those doom and gloom issues as a kid. There will always be world problems as the innocent grow. Glad the 80s hold such special memories for me!
In '86 I was still fresh out of NYU and started my life as a working adult. Now, I'm a 61 year old retiree dredging up happy memories by watching 80's videos haha.
In 2016 I am really starting to realize just how good music was in the eighties. I wasn't sure if it would stand the test of time back then, but now I am convinced.
Agreed. 80's was an era of purity. Pure, REAL music with much less digitisation. The simplicity of the tones, instruments and chorus (even the the video) has a alluring appeal. Happiness lives in the 80's. After 2005, finding quality music is scarce to none.
I was born in June of 79. 80's music is the only thing I remember from my childhood. Sometimes I hear it and cry for no apparent reason, which sort of sucks because it's also my favorite era of music.
The best decade of my life! Even with all the necessities l had back then l was so happy! My friends, school oh yeah, that girl! So beautiful to be young...
James Blair It would have been great. It is just like when you here a new song now and like to the point until you can hear it again. I believe it or not did not like this song at first. It grew on me. loll
When I come home you telephone To say you're waiting for me I ask you why I hear you cry But you're still waiting for me Someday, you'll be shedding your tears To cry over me Someday, I'll be losing this fear Now I'm alone you telephone To tell me you don't need me I ask you why you tell me lies And say the truth would hurt me, ohhh Someday, you'll be shedding your tears To cry over me (to cry over me) Someday, I'll be losing this fear Oh, oh, someday Down in the street where lovers meet That's where I'm waiting for you In the streets where lovers meet I'm still waiting for you. ohhh Someday, you'll be shedding your tears And then you'll cry over me (cry over me) Someday, I'll be losing this fear Ohh, someday you'll be shedding your tears And then you'll cry over me (cry over me) Someday, I'll be losing this fear Ooohh...
I never even heard it on local radio here in Chicago until it was retro in the 90's, it's now one of my favorite songs. Would have LOVED it when it came out.
Glass Tiger hails from Newmarket, Ontario. And I think their lead singer is originally from Scotland🏴 (family immigrated to Canada🇨🇦 when he was a teenager).
I grew up in newmarket were Glass Tiger is from. I watched them as a bar band for 5 yrs before they made it. Back then their bar band name was Tokyo. Micheal Hanson the drummer came by helped out a couple times with my band. When their big break came with capital records they played at a bar called Nagshead North At first they were gonna call themselves The Thin Red Line . Tokyo was already being used that why they had to change it. They played a few songs from that first new album. They were a great cover band singing all the variety of the new 80's. When they came it was in the era when they called the beginning of the 80's New Wave Music. To be honest they didn't all get along. Micheal really didn’t care to much for Alan Frew. Frew had a good voice but Micheal had a killer voice range. When they did Tom Sawyer by Rush WOW you thought Geddy Lee was in the house singer of Rush. They played mostly a lot at a bar called The Village Inn. It was Micheal and Sam Reid keyboard player who formed the band. Alan Frew was friends with Wayne Parker bass player. Then they found Al Connelly guitarist. Micheal was very talented . He could sing drum guitar piano. When Micheal left he eventually open up his own studio as a producer. Hes got some of his own music on RUclips. Just type Micheal Hanson. You might not really recognize him. He changed a lot in appearance . One song he has on RUclips is called Bridget. The 80s truly was the best of music when ending a cycle of great era from the 50s up to the 80s. After that dear God.....Who let the dogs out😂 Loved the long hair funky highlights the neon color clothes. Music bands were coming out almost every 2 weeks. Britain brought it alive a lot. One of my favs that really brought the synthesizer music alive was A Flock Of Seagulls. Just an awesome era. Use to go to the bars no attitude everyone got along no stupid crazy stuff. Today WTF.....bye 80s just menory's but they are good.
Thank you for that! Doesn't matter who it is , their from somewhere! And you can fly the home flag for everyone that likes them but doesn't have a connection! Everyone should do that , that has a band that made it from their home town. Every Band has someone out radio land.

And of course, as a certain - highly troublesome - demographic expanded, even that kind of security wasn't enough.
another of those unforgettable songs from the 80's
I was born in 1981 and the 80s music is definitely the best Era in music.😊

This song takes me right back to the dance party days when you had to build up the courage to ask a girl to dance with you. The rejections, the wins, awesome times. Thanks for the memories!!!

@@variableknife4702 Pretty, pretty, pretty good 😂😂😂
For those of us living as kids in the 80’s, we lived through the best music era in our lifetimes and we didn’t even know it. We just enjoyed life as simple as it was, yet so complicated at the time it seemed. No social media. Listening to the radio. Getting together with friends in real life. Passing notes to each other in school. Talking for hours on the phone to friends, our boyfriends / girlfriends and ignoring call waiting. Life was so good! ❤️❤️❤️

for those of us born in the mid 60s this is the soundtrack to our lives we had all the great music decades 70s 80s and part of the early 90s nothing will ever compare to those times life was so much better

Roberto Dallossi reminds me back in 1985! My first love I was 16 and he was 18! Cried over the thoughts of me leaving him!
It's here. At your fingertips.
Graduated 1984 and I wouldn’t trade growing up in that era for anything. 40 year reunion coming up. We’ve lost some classmates along the way but it’s still going to be a blast to see everyone
This topic still exist nowadays, what a timeless song.

I love the group glass Tiger. It was and is a band that I grew up with.I miss my youth and all these times.I am crying now thinking about all that has passed me.
I saw these guys in 1986 at Disney World during our senior trip. They were my favorite before that and I convinced many of my classmates to go just to see them. Awesome group!!
Ahh back in the days when Disney still did the grad night! Mine was in 92 but my puritan parents refused to let me go so I have no idea who was playing! Lol

To see a video that I haven't seen since it was on MTV is incredible. I heard this song somewhere recently and had memories flood back. I had to come see the video and wow. I was a teenager in front of my TV again. I really had a great childhood. So many forgotten songs that are a soundtrack to my life when I listen to them again.

Nothing really beats the music of 80's. Still my favorite to this day.
Definitely seems the most nostalgic but that's from my point of view? Is 90s music as nostalgic to people of a similar age?
I agree the 80's music was the best !!😊
The 80's were the best
I agree! 80's = The Best
Excellent classic of the 80s
One thing about the 80's is that you will always recognize them in terms of fashion, you'll never be left off wondering if the video is from the 70's, the 90's, the 00's or the 10's
Loved the back up singer in the black top. Never got tired of looking at her.
I say to my 14 yo boy. I so wish I could take you back to the 70/80s. He feels that so much.
Haven't heard this song in a long, long time. Ah.....the 80's.
The 70s and the 80s the greatest music period.

In '86 I was still fresh out of NYU and started my life as a working adult. Now, I'm a 61 year old retiree dredging up happy memories by watching 80's videos haha.
I love just how smooth this guy's voice sounds, every single note is just effortlessly superb. Now that requires mad talent and skills. Kudos!
look up the new glass tiger...Song for a winters night....stunning.
Boy George has the same silky smooth effect.

I can't stand Boy George being so proud of his filthyfhahg ot sihn, but I agree that his voice is smooth.
Mr5percenter The songs also had amazing hooks that pulled you in and wouldn't let you go. Get'm in your head and find yourself humming them all day.
I was born in June of 79. 80's music is the only thing I remember from my childhood. Sometimes I hear it and cry for no apparent reason, which sort of sucks because it's also my favorite era of music.
I was born July of 81. I remember everything (not only the music) from around age two and thereafter.
Love those 80's songs!!
The best decade of my life! Even with all the necessities l had back then l was so happy! My friends, school oh yeah, that girl! So beautiful to be young...

Laurie Burgess, makes me wish I was older than 32; go back in time and hear this for the first time.
James Blair It would have been great. It is just like when you here a new song now and like to the point until you can hear it again. I believe it or not did not like this song at first. It grew on me. loll
When I come home you telephone
To say you're waiting for me
I ask you why I hear you cry
But you're still waiting for me
Someday, you'll be shedding your tears
To cry over me
Someday, I'll be losing this fear
Now I'm alone you telephone
To tell me you don't need me
I ask you why you tell me lies
And say the truth would hurt me,
ohhh
Someday, you'll be shedding your tears
To cry over me (to cry over me)
Someday, I'll be losing this fear
Oh, oh, someday
Down in the street where lovers meet
That's where I'm waiting for you
In the streets where lovers meet
I'm still waiting for you.
ohhh
Someday, you'll be shedding your tears
And then you'll cry over me (cry over me)
Someday, I'll be losing this fear
Ohh, someday you'll be shedding your tears
And then you'll cry over me (cry over me)
Someday, I'll be losing this fear
Ooohh...

TechnicJunglist Glass Tiger are Canadian
Glass Tiger hails from Newmarket, Ontario. And I think their lead singer is originally from Scotland🏴 (family immigrated to Canada🇨🇦 when he was a teenager).
Yessssss please great comment
Make the world 80s again
Not in America only..but all around the world!. 80s is the best.!😊👍
Classic 80s magic. Sounds like the good life.
I grew up in newmarket were Glass Tiger is from. I watched them as a bar band for 5 yrs before they made it. Back then their bar band name was Tokyo.
Micheal Hanson the drummer came by helped out a couple times with my band.
When their big break came with capital records they played at a bar called Nagshead North
At first they were gonna call themselves The Thin Red Line .
After that dear God.....Who let the dogs out😂
Loved the long hair funky highlights the neon color clothes.
Cool info!

Thank you, Joseph, for this retrospection! It is good to know a little more about Glass Tiger and their relationship back then. 👍👍
Thank you for that! Doesn't matter who it is , their from somewhere! And you can fly the home flag for everyone that likes them but doesn't have a connection! Everyone should do that , that has a band that made it from their home town. Every Band has someone out radio land.
