She is so beautiful, and such a sweetie. And the stories she told about Phil Spector are absolutely true! Sonny wrote a lot of their hits, also. Plus, Sonny produced Sam Cooke's first record!
yeah, there's a lot to write about that time period, the Wrecking Crew, Sonny Bono & Spector, all the songwriters, studio musicians & backup singers, producers, engineers & their previous and subsequent careers (from Surf to Psch-influenced music, for example)..... And not just Los Angeles but also the wide range of music originating from Detroit & Memphis among others.. And also the social changes that are simultaneous and/or related (I firmly believe that Rock'n Roll, then Soul Music played a huge role in the struggle against segregation).... That's just my (=continental european) point of view, by the way...

An elephant who has been chained his whole life, whose favorite song is "My Way" - a song about having the freedom to make your own mistakes - is the most heartbreaking thing I've heard in some rough months. Did not expect to be sobbing from an offhand comment.

cher's freeing of kaavan turned me on to a whole other world. i watched all of the kaavan videos, from beginning to now. i watch his progress everyday in cambodia. he is a different elephant now. he's still in a protected area, but they r building his large area of many many acres. it's a lot of work, and the people helping r incredible. he sees, and has protected contact with 3 female elephants right now. i now watch all the rescue videos of so many elephants, every day. they r fantastic, friendly, gentle and wonderful creatures. so many still need protecting from nasty people. i can't thank cher enough for freeing kaavan, and turning me on to this world of elephants. i only wish every elephant had a cher.

She is the great survivor of Rock'n'roll. While her contemporaries have fallen by the wayside, either from drugs or being in jail, she soldiers on. And she can still sing! That acapella version of My Way was fine.
