I’ve been thinking about making a Superman bronze statue as a kind of easter egg in a post-apocalyptic fantasy setting. I’ve painted tarnished bronze for 40K statues using a base coat of black, covered with dark green and dry brushed with bronze
I’m surprised how well a conversion like this could look with with just a simple process and simple materials. Would like to see the Barbie conversion. Nice video!
Personally, I don't skimp when it comes to paint... I'm a Citadel guy, all day. At least when it comes to brush-paints... I'll get the cheapest rattle-cans I can get my hands on for the undercoats, but for stuff like metallics? Yeah, I stick with Citadel... Balthazar Gold for a nice bronze like the one you're doing for this statue, with Nihilakh Oxide for the weathering and shaded with Druchii Violet for that good antiqued-bronze look. And of COURSE I'd like to see a video on the conversion of the dollar-store Barbie toy! Yes, please.
I would absolutely love to see the Barbie cut. I love watching your conversions, and I think it's fantastic that you showcase just how cheap you can go with your materials and paints and still get a fantastic result. Keep up the good work!
Yeah, I'd like to see the other figure. Turned out great. When I do bronze statues I do it a little differently. I base coat with the metallic, then a semi-thin mix of turquoise and lime green (70/30) pretty heavy to cover most of the base, then a dry brush of metallic again to hit those highlights. Especially those places people might be frequently touching them. When I apply the mix I do it from the top down so it pools in places as water would if it were rained on for years. Then I do the strong tone to grime it up. Yours turned out great, but give that a try if you get a chance. Mine always turn out really good and I'm a way lazier and less talented crafter than you.
I literally just got those two from a dollar store being inspired by the WWE figures and I too was going to make the soccer ball into a skull. Would love to see your technique on how you did so
Ingenuity 10/10 never would’ve thought going to the dollar store and picking up figures wow now I have to reestablish how I spend my money lol. Got a new subscriber
Happened to find this channel by chance, but I liked what I saw! You did great converting that batman and the blue wash really popped for that aged effect. I'd be interested in seeing more details on the barbie as well.
I am SO GLAD to have found this video and part one. I've been on a custom figure/kitbash kick lately so it's a match made in heaven. Never subscribed so fast in my life Going to head to the dollar and craft store in a few hours to try my hand at this! It'll be my first ever attempt at making my own figures so I couldn't be more excited. And I would also love to see the Barbie footage(or really ANY footage of you making more figures like this!
I would like to see Barbies transformation also .. and I think you do a awesome job.. I'm just wanted to say thank you for the inspiration n tips n tricks ..
Hey man, I see you started 11 months ago. I just wanted to say that you make some pretty cool and informative videos. I just subscribed & I really hope your channel continues to grow!
i used one of those dollar store toys and slathered hodge podge all over it and covered it with sand to make a earth golem/earth elemental type creature
Hey man. Quite a cool series you got here. As someone who's watched a lot of mini painting, I think the crafting side of this was really innovative. Would love to see Barbie's transformation!
Nice patina, with the colors you used they come off like a fairly new bronze, but I was wondering if they might look older using a medium brown metallic paint and then highlighting with the gold you started with. Very cool idea!
I'd like to see the barbie one. For bronze and copper, the patina being heavier tends to be a better option than tarnished for a statue. For a patina, if you find the right color, thin it down to close to a wash level and then add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the paint and mix it in, the end result tends to look a lot more like a patina.
I really liked what you did up until the sky blue was applied. I might be mistaken but i think its copper that has the blue/green patina. Bronze just gets browner with age....
Your channel really is going to blow up. I hope your emailing other RUclipsrs for collabs you just need exposure your content is so good. P.s what type of card are you cutting out
Gotta make that a skull Barbie has her foot on! Totally switch things up! Also, have you seen the 2.75" G.I. Joe figures Dollar Tree started carrying? Cheers! EDIT: D'oh! I didn't realize you had already done the barbie fig when I wrote my comment. It looks great!
Around Christmas time, Michael's sells a large pack of winter flocked pine trees of various sizes. Following an older BMC video I stripped the white flock from the trees and reflocked them with a green. Then, I based them in groups. Unfortunately, I don't have the flocking on video, but one of my first ever videos was basing the trees.
Have you done and miniatures for superhero games? I was looking to get back into heroclix and these videos gave me ideas for props for my battlefields.
I haven't done any super hero mini figs. Still fairly new to painting minis. These dollar store figs could make some great terrain for a super hero game though.
So I’m into Warhammer 40K and there’s this big boy called Dreadknight or “baby carrier” in the Warhammer community. But the model is too..bare...I kinda wanna add on parts where I can build up on and make it look more of an armored Knight sentry instead of an exo-skeleton. Any suggestion on what I could use? I’ve played around with Green Stuff but idk if my sculpting game is that strong.
So this being the first time I've ever seen the model, I see why they call it baby carrier. The pilot looks like a little baby hanging from their parents chest. I think the biggest change you could try is to remove him from the front and have just his head and maybe shoulders sticking out from the top. This would make it look more like he's wearing the suit. If that's to drastic, some thin sturdy card cut into panels to from a cockpit of sorts. Use the small half circle gems as rivets. Dress the panels up with bits and pieces from other models. As you do this, make up in your head what these pieces do. This piece is a heat sensor. This one a targeting device. This tube is for coolant. This will add a bit of purpose to your placement of bits and give the kitbash a grounding in some "realism". I'm still fairly amateur myself so take all this advice with a grain of salt. Once finished, I'd love to see what you come up with. Hit me up on Instagram.
The dollar store title and maybe a good thumbnail? I'm still trying to figure it out myself. Just enjoying it while it lasts. Hopefully I can keep making videos that intrigue, inspire and entertain.
Of course I want to see the Barbie conversion. Great conversion on the batman.
Would love to se the Barbie footage.
He went from Batman to the Shredder. But seriously that was a good video.
I really love the dollar store conversions. I always end up browsing the toy isle now when we pop in for stuff!
Really great example of how just simple changes can totally revamp a piece. Nicely done
Incredible! You added very fitting detail. The staff, the skulls on the tabard and helm is just what he needed.
These looks amazing, keep the good work! Would love the see the barbie footage too.
Excellent job, the Cruddy Bronze Knight!

Nice work!... completely transformed using a simple yet highly creative technique.. def inspired to try this
I for one would definitely love to see the Barbie cut! Looks like a really good Amazonian style figure.

The Barbie cut is in the works. But a little spoiler, I turned to my trusty box of citadel skulls.
Ingenuity 10/10 never would’ve thought going to the dollar store and picking up figures wow now I have to reestablish how I spend my money lol. Got a new subscriber

I really like what you have done. It is a very inexpensive way to make your own figures. I may try in the future n.n
Id like to see the barbie one too if that's ok. I love you ideas. Edit: that paint job was A+++
Dude This is Fantastic 👍. Super Cool.
I'd like to see another Dollar Store conversion video, but themed around making a Jade statue. I think that would look pretty cool.
Love that idea.
Barbie with football switched with skull!!!
This video hooked me in, brother!
Liked and subbed!
"Stay a while, and listen." Glad to have you. 😁👍
i used one of those dollar store toys and slathered hodge podge all over it and covered it with sand to make a earth golem/earth elemental type creature
That sounds awesome. Did it turn out well?
@@brokenterrain well enough, afterward I figured out that primarying it and then painting it an earth tone color would have helped
This was fantastic.

I’d really like to see the Barbie - love the skull (in place of the ball) !
Could make the batman build a Big Bad for a campaign too
That does not look like Batman! I am impressed! Yes on Barbie,,
Really enjoyed your Batman conversion, please release Barbie!!
You're in luck, the Barbie cut has been released.

@@brokenterrain The technique that I'd used is one that originated with an old video on Tabletop Minions.
Please show how you made the Barbie bronzing 😄

I’m inspired to do this now.
Amazing stuff. Patreon time, dude.
I really liked what you did up until the sky blue was applied. I might be mistaken but i think its copper that has the blue/green patina. Bronze just gets browner with age....
You could be right. I'll have to double check next time I do a bronze piece.
what a transformation
Barbie cut!!!
Yo, bro. Pleeeaaase tell me you pronounce Batman like that on purpose. Lol. Looks great, man!
I do. My family loves putting our own spin on certain names and phrases.
I agree with everyome else lets see barbie! Lol
Your channel really is going to blow up. I hope your emailing other RUclipsrs for collabs you just need exposure your content is so good.

Little Debbie snack cake boxes. They're a perfect thickness for this application. Thank you so much for watching.
@@brokenterrain oh wow I would have never guessed that the boxes would take up paint so well. Very nice

Thank you. I'll keep my eyes open for them Joes figures.
I loved the altar in this one. Is that just XPS? I really liked the blood stains on it!
Yes the altar is just a carved block of xps. It does have a couple fender washers on the bottom for weight.
Love the video and process, but where in the heck did you get those trees?? I freaking need those so bad!
