Completely unacceptable. These kinds of intrusive surveillance measures do not support privacy rights and expected norms of privacy by the general population. Forget that some governments already collect meta-data to track individual activity, now there is facial recognition technology in the mix. The fact that some stores have already implemented them without any public consultation is downright unethical.
We all need to just shop online!!!
Just because something CAN be done doesn't mean it SHOULD be done.
Well I mean do you like when when people shop lift... No and if we can stop that why not?
There needs to be laws banning the use of this technology in public places.

Here's the scary part.
I have met at least 3 different sets of people -- not twins, not related -- that look almost identical. One was a duplicate of my brother and even talked like him. It took me several long minutes to realize it wasn't my OWN brother! Another time, I saw, across a restaurant, a woman who looked EXACTLY like a friend I was standing next to! And I knew she didn't have any siblings!
I'm sure I'm not unique in these experiences. Therefore, this kind of "facial recognition," poses a huge question of reliability. Too many people look so much alike that, rather than help catch potential criminals, it will more likely result in a lot of false arrests and/or mistaken identities.
And this doesn't even go into privacy issues. Because, no matter what the motive, as long as I'm NOT breaking any laws, what I buy or what I decide to not to buy is no one's business but my own.
Time for action!!!! Wake up as many as you can. We have to start a new human army united against this tyranny!!!!!!!!!

Hey these money/technology type people have always put me, my family, and friends best interest first. Regardless if we want, it is coming to all major retail and data for "undesirables" will be shared. I read "ultimately it the customer doesn't want it then facial recognition will be scraped" what horse crap. Where are we going to shop? They start large and adapt to the small retailer. Having worked retail from bottom to top I think we lose more privacy than the cost of shrink and shoplifting. Their lying Aholes

+ToroMoto - Odds are you already shop at many of these places. I've read documents that suggest the bar scanner you walk through into stores can read the RFID chip on your credit/debit cards when you enter.

I completely agree with this facial recognition technology. When implemented in every country and stored in a global database, only this way the world will finally be one with no borders. We should embrace globalization it's inevitably going to happen then world is getting smaller and easier to travel.
Maybe you should look up how this is being used in China. It has become a social point system where folk are stopped from catching even trains and leaving their provinces. Whether they can get loans or a job. Just another step towards control and the police state.
Just the opposite will happen. If you don't act the way the tech overlords demand, you will be punished by not be able to freely move where you want, travel will be denied to you, services denied to you. You'll get a better score for behaving a certain way, and a lower score for behaving in a manner the tech overlords do not support. This is all leading to a social credit score. This is not a good thing.

Guys its not all doom & gloom. I am a Face Recog developer. I use it for my safety. It runs on top of my home CCTV. When someone unknown is detected at my door, their image is saved.
I have no problem with people knowing my name and my face, I just don't like tech being able to do it.
