We had someone in our neighborhood that had his phone disconnect due to none payment. So when his neighbor wasn't home he ran a line over to her house. ( He hid it under the weeds and grass between their houses). She found out on one of the few nights she was home when she went to use the phone and heard him. She left and called police. She thought he was in her house. The police found the hidden line. Don't know what happend with that but he went to jail for other stuff.

If you suspect squatters in your home, just visit the home while armed. It is easy to tell the police that you were "surprised" by intruders that had invaded your property. Done and done.
I need to start a squatter removal business. A couple of 400 lb guys named Bubba and Junior armed with baseball bats. I bet the squatters would be high tailing it with their tails between tehir legs.
Floyd R. Turbo thing with squatters is, if your boys bubba & junior let them get away...they'll be placing leins on your business & home, trying to have your 402k siezed etc. 99.9% of swuatters today are of the "sovereign citizen" variety. They're lazy and just smart enough to be a big pain in the ass. If you're going to start a business, it should be a squatter "extermination" business. The main tools of said business should be weighted, spiked bats, shovels & bags of lye. Instead of hiring bubba & jr...hire folks who's last names end in vowels.
Won't work, me and my brother tried numerous times to kick out a couple tweakers squatting in a trailer my mom owned. They would show up a couple days later everytime, and had to get police involved twice before they would actually do anything. If we had our way they would have had their knees broken, dumped off a few miles away and be warned what would happen if we had to come back.
Hilarious how they can't kick squatters which have ZERO legal rights to live there... but if you are late 2-3 days on your rent, they can kick you out almost instantly. Even if you want to pay, you can't use cash, debit/credit card or even a check... has to be a cashier check... and on top of that... if you do pay, there's an absurd amount of extra fee's to pay...
if the home is foreclosed on. Then a bank is who need to go after. 99% of the time, once a house is foreclosed on by a bank. up until house is sold again, No one from the bank goes by and does once a day inspections, or every other day inspections or even once a week inspections to make sure House is Secured and no one broke in and is living inside.
These dudes are so hilarious to watch, when the news reporters go directly to confront them and they get offended like if the news people are being intrusive.
I use to have a neighbor that would come on our property and freaking wash their cars using our faucets outside our house. We had to remove the spigots so they couldn't use it.
True story...When I was installing new digital water meters in a down river community near Detroit, an empty house needed a meter, so a real estate agent met me at the house with a key for the lockbox. During the install, the agent complained about high water bills, but the house was empty. I checked throughout the house for leaks, then went outside to do same, where, in the rear of the house, we discovered a hose leading to the backyard of the house behind. It was hooked to a faucet of the empty house, and the neighbor was filling his swimming pool and watering his lawn!!!
These deadbeats just kill me. Ok this is good to know. Maybe squatters will move out quicker if I can keep utilities off. I would personally go to the water, gas and electricity companies. Plus I think its it a federal law that no one can put anything in your mailbox.
Squatting happens everywhere. There are no laws protecting homeowners from squatters. It's ridiculous. Squatters get away with it and destroying the property too. It can take months to get them out of your home. It's wrong. They get away with it because there aren't laws to protect the homeowner when squatters come in and change the locks, destroy your home, and the cops won't do anything to get them out either
People think if you turn on the water, it'll spill over the cap. I believe the spinning cap is merely a covering over the actual device. The device hidden underneath is sealed tightly around the spigot, but the outside cap prevents anyone from turning it loose. I'm not sure, though, how the metal ring holding the padlock is attached to the device. Like, does it spin itself so that someone can't grasp the padlock and use it to spin the cap off?
Jimmy Joe This isn't a "liberal" problem. Every state, in some form or another, has "squatters rights" laws on the books. Two very conservative states, Tennessee and Kentucky, had to change the laws to combat the problem. This crap happens in Texas, Georgia, Mississippi, Louisiana and every other state. In fact, it happens in conservative states more often than liberal ones. Most of the time, squatters are affiliated with the sovereign movement. A right wing group. They believe that the government has grown too big and they rail against it. Sound familiar?
Aurojia are you crazy Southern California is crawling with meth head trumpies I hope you realize there is more to Southern California than la and San Diego
Where I live they most certainly CAN do something! The neighbors can get their City to declare the foreclosed property as a nuisance, and then they send out the Nuisance Abatement Team in black camo, military boots and cameras with cops and weapons, to remove the squatters and board up the property. Eventually if the owners don't respond, their City can go through legal channels to either get owners to fix the problem, or the City can raze the property to the ground. I watched them do it a few blocks from me. It was great.
So explain how the water would get to my house, for free? Explain how the wells, pumps, mains, etc are free and I 'll agree only then that water should be free.
Wow you clearly arent on the same realm as me . Water should be free. Oh but you talk about the pipes and the other things . The whole idea of when i say water should be free goes along with the fact that humans should help humans Example: Guy 1: hey we need a system to get fresh clean water to the general public, but how? Guy 2: OH just so happens i know construction and i know about how pipes work Guy 1: GREAT! i will pay you. Guy 2: Hah no dont pay me , We need this water to live Its not for you, its for us. I will use MY skills to help us all. humanity
I have had that problem. My neighbor hooked a hose to my spicket I don't use it much. I called the police and unhooked the hose twice. With in hours it would be hooked back up. I took off the handle and the neighbor just used pliers. I got one of those locks and it was cut. After the 6th or 7th time the officer told me I could cut the hose so I did. And again with in an hour a different hose was there. I finally got a plumber to put a shut off valve in so I could control the water to the spicket. Then the neighbor just started doing it to the old woman on the other side of him. My water tripped in the 2 months I was trying to keep the guy off my water. That's what got me looking at my plumbing. I will admit I have knocked on doors when walking my dog for a little bit of water but if no one answered I did not take water. And I have asked businesses for tap water for my dog but I have never taken any
irishlad irishlad It’s basically stealing, I’m sure your neighbor would be happy to lend you water if you said you couldn’t afford it and asked for some. And if there pathetic to say no, go around town and ask.
Shouldn't you be more shocked that you live in a society where people are forced into such desperation that getting access to such a basic necessity as water requires stealing it?
ROTAXD in the United States we don’t take care of mentally ill people or have welfare systems to help them transition or live their lives. We just (you’re a prime example of this) dust of our hands and expect other people to handle this problem. 48% of cities that have a homeless problem say that mental illness is the number one problem of homelessness by far. We continue to say no we’re not going to handle it and spend money pampering rich. If we actually paid attention to this we would be spending less as a society on police, jails, property damage, amongst other things. But we’re so ignorant that we believe welfare costs so much money we’ll go into debt in a few years. I have some news for your bud. We spends trillions of dollars on military and rich cronies and everyone seems to be doing ok. We don’t get anything back from them since they ship their jobs to other countries.
silencedknight let me guess...laziness = mentally ill. Drug adled= mentally ill Entitled = mentally ill. Squatters are entitled assholes who feel as though other peoples private property & laws do not apply to them. Trust me, the mentally ill may be panhandling, but they're not squatting.
Wow, you must be trolling, you have to be, there's absolutely NO way you could be this fucking stupid. Honestly statements like this reflect on society pretty darn well. This could NOT have been farther away from the truth. If you do a little bit of research instead of just blabbering on about what you see on Fox news or troll articles, you will understand that mental illness isn't a choice. Many people unfortunately think that mentally ill is a choice and actually use the excuse you typed up above because its the easiest way for your brain to comprehend it. Either you're trolling or you've never set foot inside a mental hospital, classroom, or even volunteered community service with people that are handicapped. You're totally fine with people going to jail for mental illness than receiving treatment and having the proper support to be able to function in society. We spend roughly about 100,000 a year on people that go to prison/ jail and we spend a fraction of that amount helping people up on their feet. We would be SAVING money by helping people and making sure they get the proper treatment instead of putting them away in jail. But oh dear, you're brain can only comprehend that if you're homeless, you must be lazy. It's just an excuse so you can keep saying NO to Welfare and NO to government. You're honestly really sick dude. To this end, I haven't mentioned other problems with homelessness such as: Domestic Violence, Drug abuse, Healthcare, and the lack of the affordability of housing in that area. Yes, I'm sure you'll come up with an excuse for each one, please keep them coming I will have a response for you. If you have any articles I can read on this topic, please bring this forward so I can refute them. Just because you bring up up the one answer you have for homelessness which is laziness, it doesn't make the other reasons for homeless invalid. Not to mention the fact, you're DENYING the research that has been done. Here take a look at these articles: facts.net/homelessness/ www.nationalhomeless.org/factsheets/Mental_Illness.pdf talkpoverty.org/2014/08/11/no-safe-place/ nationalhomeless.org/about-homelessness/
silencedknight I've been "dealing" with squatters for a number of years now. I could not give two shits what leftist researchers claim to have concluded. Why ? Because most of these people are finding what the people who are paying them tell them to find. Not one of them likely has any real world experience dealing with these entitled scum. I do. Until you've dealt with them trying to shoot or stab you while you're trying to remove them from a clients property is most certainly not the act of a disabled person. Claiming ownership of a property, or in reality, filing suit to take ownership of a property because "they warched the place" is not the act of a mentally disabled person. Stealing water while in posession of a decent vehicle as the scum in this video were doing is again, not the act of a mentally disabled person. Let's be clear here, we're not talking about some vet with ptsd or an unmedicated schizophrenic here. Those folks have actual issues and need a hand up...but those folks are highly unlikely to be squatters in a property that is not condemned.
Yan Campos 1) water coming out of a faucet (spigot) is not free. She's paying the mortgage which includes the pipes & the spigot. She's paying the water bill so that the infrastructure (pipes, pumps, treatment facilities) remains intact. 2) squatters are all, at best scam artists who will ALWAYS bite the hand that feeds them. She lets them have water today, "tomorrow" they'll be squatting in one of her units and suing because they got hurt on her property.
Yeah, tell that to the company that drilled the wells, the company that manufactured the pumps and water mains, and the workers who run and maintain the system. The only time water is free is when you collect it as rainwater.
Go to the local creek, filter the water, do chemical and biohazard checks, build pipelines, then you can have free water... Oh wait that all costs money...
Such astounding intelligence, and such eloquent grammar. Definitely an ignorant libtard LOL These are the children that think we should print more money.
No, that was the spelling of a teenage girl, and besides, your the one berating some random person who hasn't even done anything. Water SHOULD be free, the problem is that a bunch of democratic assholes decided that irrigating a desert such as California is a good idea, not regarding the fact that people should be able to afford water.
Is that brass lock? Squatters are wiring their own electricity from the pole without ppe or a bucket truck and people think that lock is gonna keep them out.???
The thing is that THEY arent allowed to use their own sprinklers, because the cost of money. And 5 gallons of water Will probs be 1 million dollars, the neighboors Will be happy to give water away, if the squatters afsked first and didnt fill up a whole poll
In Texas if a house is in foreclosure and then the mortgage company goes out of business a squatter can have an opportunity to take ownership of the home by a law named adverse possession they by printing an online form and filing it at the local court house you can buy a home that cost thousands of dollars for just 16 bucks which is the court cost. If the owner of the house wanted the squatter out of the house squatter would not be arrested the owner would need have to pay off the foreclosure amount and go to court because possession of the house is a civil matter not a criminal one but if no action is taken after 3 years of residing there the squatter can ask the court for the deed to the house which at that time is considered abandoned.
They could have solved the problem of the tenants not being able to use the locked spigot by using a combination lock and giving all the tenants the combo or they could have additional keys made for the existing lock and giving one to each tenant.
Had a squatter live next door for a few weeks so I had to do something similar. Except instead of stealing it, he would get high and spray the water in the street and play with the hose like a little kid. Guy was cracked out of his mind.
Call the police and tell them to show up cuz you're going over there with a gun to throw them out!! We have a constitutional right to protect our home and property!!!
Interesting. It looks like the guy who owns the red pick up and is accused of squatting has a job working on a road or construction crew. There are two campers parked on the property. I am wondering if there might be enough resources there for him to fix up one of the campers and his truck before they evict him. I am also wondering how this seems to be a theme for Portland and Seattle.
Would it not make more sense to have a locking mechanism that prevents the spigot from being turned in the first place? They can just turn it and water will eventually pour over. If you lock it place so the water cannot even be turned on period, that is a more efficient method.
Yes, I'm suspicious my neighbor is stealing water. She first stole a piece of my plant and replanted it in her yard. I special ordered my plant so I know she didn't order one just like it.It's starting to grow and look like a minnie version of mine. Then I was with my daughter in the house and I said I hear what sounds like someone taking a shower but no one was using water. Then I put two and two together. Could it really be my neighbor? Yes. So now if I hear water suddenly running, I'll be running outside.
Unfortunately, I've had to lock up the water spigot on the front of my house. I figured it was a small price to pay to keep my water bill from skyrocketing and keep undesirables AWAY!
Water doesnt belong to anybody it belongs to the earth. You just pay for the service to have it pumped to your home and the cleaning service for it 🤷🏽♂️
Someone used to get water out of mine but couldn't turn it off all the way. I filled up a clean milk jug with water and wrote on it "leave a clean empty jug and I will refill it" I fill one maybe once a week. On days 100+ I leave a frozen one in the morning. I have had homeless people thanking me with a note and someone else leaving a case of brand new sealed ones. It cost less than a penny to give someone a gallon of water.
Doing this on a foreclosure makes sense now. The previous owner is more than likely to be very happy that this happening to the same company that kicked him/her out.
If you look at it they can still turn the valve and the water can still come out, it will just take longer to get the water with that thing blocking the opening. You have to lock the valve, prevent the crackheads from being able to turn the valve. That lock covering the opening does nothing but just slow down the flow of water coming out.
Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm figuring that lock and spigot cap probably cost more than the water that was being stolen. I don't like squatters but for crying out loud, its just 5 gallons of water to help keep them alive.
In SF, where I live, it was in the news that this homeless guy opened a pg&e manhole kind of thingy on the street, hot wired his smart phone to an electrical source there, and layed on the street aside the manhole watching movies on his phone! Wth!! What nerve!! And he'd done it more than once; neighborhood people would see him doing it! Who does that??

You don't know those people you don't know the struggle that they're going through do you think they want to be there?how they feel?just becuse they're squatting don't make them bad people not everybody was born with a silver spoon.and everyone is supposed to help everyone that little bit of water wasn't hurting her to give them she wanted to run a fucking sprinkler you're supposed to help people while they're down not kick them.
If you keep them around, that's just future business.
Floyd R. Turbo you forgot TYRON from fed prison 7 foot 6 280 lbs pure muscle lol
Won't work, me and my brother tried numerous times to kick out a couple tweakers squatting in a trailer my mom owned. They would show up a couple days later everytime, and had to get police involved twice before they would actually do anything. If we had our way they would have had their knees broken, dumped off a few miles away and be warned what would happen if we had to come back.
theyd come back? did you consider moving the trailer? securing it? perhaps fitting a alarm?
We need new squatter laws. These days people can take over your home and you can't do a thing about it
Hilarious how they can't kick squatters which have ZERO legal rights to live there... but if you are late 2-3 days on your rent, they can kick you out almost instantly.
Even if you want to pay, you can't use cash, debit/credit card or even a check... has to be a cashier check... and on top of that... if you do pay, there's an absurd amount of extra fee's to pay...
That is not true. It can take months to evict someone. You can’t evict someone for being late with rent by just two days, unless you live in Arkansas.
It's sad you have to do this but I'm happy they're making it hard for these theives.
Never mind squatters... we lock our spigot because the TOWN walks on our property and hooks up to it for their ongoing road construction work outside.
if the home is foreclosed on. Then a bank is who need to go after. 99% of the time, once a house is foreclosed on by a bank. up until house is sold again, No one from the bank goes by and does once a day inspections, or every other day inspections or even once a week inspections to make sure House is Secured and no one broke in and is living inside.
Squatters could "simply disappear". No media, no law enforcement.
Typical police non- response.
Squatter: "Don't disrespect my space" How Ironic
These dudes are so hilarious to watch, when the news reporters go directly to confront them and they get offended like if the news people are being intrusive.
News reporters are obnoxious.
Squatters rights
Shot at night
Lol
No that is murder the second amendment does not protect.
Did the water stealers turn the water off when they left?
Police here are not going to do anything...isn't that protecting the Criminals?
The police are mostly democratic, and democrats have this stupid moral where they have to help the poor, even if they ARE criminals.
So squatting is legal in Portland?
Far-left areas tend to be more lenient towards it, that's for certain.
Cost of water? O yea, don't live on the west coast
I hear guns are a good squatter deterant.
No they are not you will be charged with murder if you shoot someone.
Why can't the pipe connected to the spiggot inside the house have a shut off valve?
It's what Washington state wants! they love people like that!! NEXT TO CALIFORNIA THEY ARE AS LIBERAL AS IT GETS!!
Southern California*, there's a difference.
Jimmy Joe
This isn't a "liberal" problem.
Jimmy Joe WTF does California remotely have to do with this? Leave us outta this.......
Aurojia are you crazy Southern California is crawling with meth head trumpies I hope you realize there is more to Southern California than la and San Diego
Aurojia Yeah it's sucks I live in la and only 1 of my 6 teachers doesn't try to fill me up with liberal bs
Water should be free
All Of Them
It is. Go up the glaciers and get some. You don't pay for water you wad, you pay for the things needed to get it tobyou.
Adrian Florez not really
So explain how the water would get to my house, for free? Explain how the wells, pumps, mains, etc are free and I 'll agree only then that water should be free.
Wow you clearly arent on the same realm as me .
Water should be free.
Oh but you talk about the pipes and the other things .
The whole idea of when i say water should be free goes along with the fact that humans should help humans
Example:
Guy 1: hey we need a system to get fresh clean water to the general public, but how?
Guy 2: OH just so happens i know construction and i know about how pipes work
Guy 1: GREAT! i will pay you.
Guy 2: Hah no dont pay me , We need this water to live
Its not for you, its for us.
And I have asked businesses for tap water for my dog but I have never taken any
Fuck sake it's water.... this world is gone to fuck shame on us people
irishlad irishlad It’s basically stealing, I’m sure your neighbor would be happy to lend you water if you said you couldn’t afford it and asked for some. And if there pathetic to say no, go around town and ask.
Where can I get a lock like this ?
Shouldn't you be more shocked that you live in a society where people are forced into such desperation that getting access to such a basic necessity as water requires stealing it?
Phil Dog this is what is so depressing. If someone has to steal WATER then they arent the fucking problem. Capitalism is disgusting
Drug adled= mentally ill
Entitled = mentally ill.
Here take a look at these articles:

silencedknight I've been "dealing" with squatters for a number of years now.
Can't they turn off the water from the main faucet inside.?
water is so bloody cheap though. not like they hooked up a hose to run showers and toilets
It ain't "bloody cheap" when they can't afford to use the sprinklers.
its pretty bad when a fellow human being cant take water to survive without some one complaining that they stole 20cents worth of water
They should try asking. And it ain't so they can survive.
I bet you they are using it to flush the toilets.
20 cents worth of water? Probably a lot more than that.
cost of water expensive there?
It's fucking water wtf...
Water isn't free
Yan Campos
1) water coming out of a faucet (spigot) is not free.
Good idea, but can you turn on the faucet and collect the water leaking out of it?
water should be free o well
Yeah, tell that to the company that drilled the wells, the company that manufactured the pumps and water mains, and the workers who run and maintain the system. The only time water is free is when you collect it as rainwater.
Go to the local creek, filter the water, do chemical and biohazard checks, build pipelines, then you can have free water... Oh wait that all costs money...
I mean, you CAN just build your own solar still to purify contaminated and salty water... Its not hard, just annoying...
Such astounding intelligence, and such eloquent grammar. Definitely an ignorant libtard LOL
These are the children that think we should print more money.
Squatters are wiring their own electricity from the pole without ppe or a bucket truck and people think that lock is gonna keep them out.???
how demonic have people become wont even give thirsty a drink of water
Jesus Is The Only Way how is that crazy they bum ass bitches don't want to get a job they don't deserve to have her water that she pays a lot for.
If they were to ask maybe and wer'nt rude
The thing is that THEY arent allowed to use their own sprinklers, because the cost of money.
And 5 gallons of water Will probs be 1 million dollars, the neighboors Will be happy to give water away, if the squatters afsked first and didnt fill up a whole poll
every human deserves water thats a human right you cant even make a terrorist go with out water since it a humans right to water.
they should just do it in the yard till people get sick of the smell and give them water.
How about turning off the supply valve off to the spigot inside the house
it's just water u need it to live
They should probably get a job so they can buy it and survive then.
You also need some sort of shelter to live. But hey, the people in the video get that for free already.
Yeh......, about $100+ a quarter and that could double from them stealing it
Theft is theft, period.
Can't they still use a bucket and turn it on?
I’m not saying they can easily be ran off with the right number of hacks with a machete, but I’m saying it MIGHT work.
They could have solved the problem of the tenants not being able to use the locked spigot by using a combination lock and giving all the tenants the combo or they could have additional keys made for the existing lock and giving one to each tenant.
Does/did Portland have a drought?
I thought Oregon was lush.
was this squatter in one of the caravans?
Had a squatter live next door for a few weeks so I had to do something similar. Except instead of stealing it, he would get high and spray the water in the street and play with the hose like a little kid. Guy was cracked out of his mind.
Call the police and tell them to show up cuz you're going over there with a gun to throw them out!! We have a constitutional right to protect our home and property!!!
Bolt cutters?
Interesting. It looks like the guy who owns the red pick up and is accused of squatting has a job working on a road or construction crew. There are two campers parked on the property. I am wondering if there might be enough resources there for him to fix up one of the campers and his truck before they evict him. I am also wondering how this seems to be a theme for Portland and Seattle.
Moon Pie not tx we shot a mf for that
HD Candela Nah, that's the new homeless uniform. Tons of street people wear that stuff now.
They’re drinking from a secondary water source that isn’t drinkable?
If turned on would it shot the water back up the facet srry for grammar
Would it not make more sense to have a locking mechanism that prevents the spigot from being turned in the first place? They can just turn it and water will eventually pour over. If you lock it place so the water cannot even be turned on period, that is a more efficient method.
Couldnt you just turn off the pipe that leads outside?
Why dont you just use one to lock the house they squat in?
Don't people just use a key? As in the wheel being replaced by a piece of metal that isn't attached?
Police: were working on it.
When someone forgets to wear a seatbelt.
Police: License and registration sir.
If you look at it they can still turn the valve and the water can still come out, it will just take longer to get the water with that thing blocking the opening. You have to lock the valve, prevent the crackheads from being able to turn the valve. That lock covering the opening does nothing but just slow down the flow of water coming out.
Uhhh why not just turn off the water?
All the squatter laws are such BS.If someone moved into my home believe me I'd have them physically removed over night
"Dont disrespect my place" ... you alrdy know who stole the water :)
Any squatters caught on your land should have to be your servant for a time to pay restitution for rent. You could rent them out as cheap labor.
Wow thank goodness I live in Canada..water is still free here.our mayor built or converted 7 building for the homeless..I pray for you country
No they pay a bill for the electricity to heat the water..
No they pay a bill for the electricity they use to heat the water
Yes im sorry you are right..ive bern a renter all my adult life so never saw a ..thanks for getting me to research..have a great week
Yes you are right..lol ive rented all m life..my ignorance..have a great day!
The state of their toilet, though?
The city needs to be held accountable for this bad behavior. This is breaking the law, trespassing and inviting people’s personal property.
OMG 5 gallons of water oh the humanity have some compassion
Clean water should be a right of everyone on earth.
Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm figuring that lock and spigot cap probably cost more than the water that was being stolen. I don't like squatters but for crying out loud, its just 5 gallons of water to help keep them alive.
I have no problems with squatters as long as they're at least kind of friendly and stay off my property.
So you don't mind squatters on other people's property, just not yours? You're an idiot.
damn padlocks that sucks damn squatters
Who and why decided this squatter bs?
I don't know how you steel water? Maybe trespassing.
Why not just shut off the water to the spigot inside the house ? Duh.
We have a right to water, and to occupy space. "Private property" is nothing more than fascism.
