I’ve seen the clip of Avi crying so many times and it still makes me tear up. I hope you watch the episode they come back as the previous winners. They perform I Need Your Love and it really shows how far they had come since they won their season. The judges look so proud of them.

You mentioned how many people were in the group that PTX was up against for the win. PTX being such a small group was seen as a handicap for most of the season, since it's very difficult to get the sort of full sound that a group with 10 or 15 or 20 members can achieve with only 5 members - one of which is spending almost all of his time beatboxing. It also means that if someone is feeling sick or not performing up to their ability, you can't hide that with numbers - everything is out in the open (I know Kirstie was feeling quite sick for at least one of their performances on the show). So the fact that PTX still managed to win the competition is even more amazing!
As for the record contract - yes, Sony dropped them within a few weeks (I've heard various amounts of time, but all of them within about 2 months of winning the contract) because Sony didn't know how to work with an a cappella group, and didn't think there was a mass market for that kind of music. Which is pretty sh*tty on Sony's part, since they would have known all of that going into the competition - to me, it just means that Sony wanted the advertising and publicity of sponsoring the competition and offering the winners a contract they KNEW they were going to back out of as soon as they possibly could.
If you watch the Evolution of Pentatonix from the Hollywood Bowl 2022 concert, they do go over that a little bit - it's definitely worth reacting to!
I have always thought that an acapella group with just 5 members was incredible but especially after seeing how big the groups that they were up against were. And why would Sony even offer a contract if they are going to drop them a few weeks after? They knew they were going to have to work with an acqpella group either way 🤔 Thanks for your comment!
@@CarmenReacts I believe there was a management change at Sony either just before or while the competition was taping. It wasn't PTX, it was the label. The previous leadership was willing to let prior acapella groups record an album. I'm not sure how much was spent to promote either the album or the group. I had to search to find a copy.
Nota (a six man group) won season 1; Committed (5 man group) won season 2; PTX charted their own way from their season 3 win, and Home Free greatly expanded their fan base via their season 4 win.
Hi. So glad we made it to the end. 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. I know you will love their return. They perform. “I need your love”. On finale of season season 4. The night that Home Free won the sing off. PTX returns to sing I need your love. They are so different. More polished and amazing but still young It’s a very heart warming video. Fun fact. Kirsty is the only woman to ever win the sing off.

Well Carmen if you are looking for Ptx things they are great videos of behind the concerts of Ptx, they were some great one form three year ago, but they arent music, they are about their touring, what they do, they met with fans, their emotions before and after a concerts, they are very fun, down to earth group, so if you want to watched them they are called Ptx experience.
Their tour vlogs are fun, you get some behind the scenes stuff. The first series was the 2014 PTXperience. I think you will enjoy these, you get to see their personalities come through.
If you want to do a series, you could react to one or more of their tour vlog series. No full songs, just clips from songs as background music, and short clips of rehearsals and performances. The vlogs show their tour experiences and you really get to know each member better. Vlog episodes are mostly 3-10 minutes, with a few longer. The 2014 (PTXperience, 13 episodes) & 2015 (PTXperience On My Way Home Tour, 11 episodes) tours are on their PTXVlogs RUclips channel. Their 2018 (PTXperience Summer 2018 & Christmas is Here Tours, 14 episodes) and 2019 (PTX The World Tour 2019, episodes 0 to 15 + NYC special) are on their regular Pentatonix RUclips channel)
Great reaction! Mitch definitely looks like his about to faint or have a panic attack or something. Kirsten’s hand probably hurt because it looks like he really has a tight grip on it! I like the idea of mixing in solo work by the group in between videos. Also some recommended the PTXExperience videos which show behind the scenes stuff. There are some behind the scenes for certain videos that are fun too. Don’t worry, there is plenty more to watch!
Scott just released a new song on July 7th, also that was his wedding day as well! It always makes me cry.

@@CarmenReacts oh it’s called Four, and also he released one previously called Parallel, it’s the title track of his EP that comes out July 28th. Messer aka Mitch also is releasing a song called oblivion on the 14th of July and his birthday is July 24th and there is a streaming party of all messer songs on Spotify, which has already increased his monthly listens by more than 300%.

When You're done with all the Sing-off videos You can switch between PTX and all their side-projects like superfruit and the solo work of Kirstie, Mitch, Kevin and Avi.

They all moved to California and were dropped from their contract the following week. They used RUclips to build their base.

I'm happy that you finished the series and that you enjoyed it. Thank you. Mitch and Kirstin holding hands before the announcement was adorable. They calmed each other down a bit. It would be great if you would react to PTXperience videos. My favorites start with their 2018 summer tour but some people like the older ones. There are summer and Christmas PTXperience videos. All are fun and you get to see them being themselves on tour. They are fun, talented, creative and caring humans.
Sony didn't think an accapella group could become famous. Now they have had over a billion views of their music. Shame on Sony for not recognizing their amazing taleny!
You could do the Christmas special along with their guest appearance on season 4. Also, they sing something like 5 songs on The Masked Singer. There's a complication of all their performances in one video out there. You could do that or split it up into individual performances if you want to string them out. However, there's so much out there that you could fill at least 4 or more years worth of Mondays and never repeat a single video.
You know, looking back at the start of Pentatonix and their journey through to their win reminded me of your journey down the Pentatonix rabbit hole. I can remember your first reaction to them (Hallelujah). While singing his first line you commented on Scott's voice. Then the harmonies came in and you almost seemed to float off of your seat. (BTW, that mirrored my reaction to them exactly.) Before the end of the first verse you said that your were going to have to take a deep dive into Pentatonix. And that you did! And we've loved every minute of it. 🧡

It's such a flashback it's more emotional watching it now than back then when the show aired. I was apart of this vote and I cried when they won. Yes, Sony's Epic Records (I think I'm right on this) is who dropped them after a few weeks. The story I heard is they didn't know what to do with them. Some rumors were that they tried to make them into a regular band with instruments. They were picked up by Madison Gate Records, a label owned by Sony that specializes in soundtracks. I believe at least PTX Vol 1 and possibly their first Christmas album was done with Madison. Then in May of 2014, they signed with RCA. Also a Sony company. So to for people to have said all along that Sony dropped them is partially true, but doesn't tell the full story.
They did a performance of “I Need Your Love” by Calvin Harris on the fourth season finale, if you want another reaction video. It’s really good, and one of my favorites. Stay awesome. ❤️
Should do a full dive into Superfruit videos. The Frozen medley (featuring Kirsty) comes to mind, and there are many others, but also just slice-of-life stuff featuring influencer and celeb fans on occasion. Usually very funny.

I too can’t understand why they were dropped from Sonys contract. I think, they just didn’t think an Acapella group was worth anything. OMG. How wrong were they. Hallelujah has over six Hundred Million views. ( probably wrong, I think it’s more ). What I can’t understand, why aren’t there song played on the radio??????😮😢😮😢😮❤❤❤❤❤
From what I learned from being a BTS fan: radio is just an huge business transaction where labels pay to get their artists played on the radio. It has nothing to do with what the listeners actually want to hear, which is horrible and so unfair to thousands of talented, independent or foreign artists that don’t get honest chances like this 😞
