they just got their star on the hollywood walk of fame last week, crazy how far theyve come
It's unusual to be able to see a group from their very beginnings, watch them bond and learn to blend their individual talents, stumbling at times, but persevering until they fine-tune a sound that is so unique and expertly crafted that it moves millions. And they were so YOUNG! For these reasons and more, many of us get emotional when we watch their Sing-Off journey. It's like being in the delivery room for a birth. We are watching the creation of something that did not exist before, and that's pretty inspiring. Love your genuine reactions, Carmen. Look after you and stay well.
Glad you are feeling better Carmen ☺️. Don’t worry, I get emotional too because I’m just so proud of them. Seeing this and then seeing them get their star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame last week makes me feel like a proud Mom!
That is such an amazing way to celebrate everything they’ve achieved. I’m so proud! 🥹
I love these reactions. I always point this out the competitors, let me say that again, the PEOPLE competing against them are giving them standing ovations. Not even in the Olympics do competitors compliment the other participants. They all knew, we all knew. They are something different. It just is what it is. Much love and keep on keepin on J.
So glad you are feeling better. Welcome back. 🎉🎉🎉. They were the smallest and youngest group. Mitch missed his high school graduation to be on this show. I’m not naturally shy the way Mitch is, but I can not imagine myself as a high School senior flying to LA and being on a national tv show. They are so lovable partly because they show such support and love for each other
Anyone who’s performed knows how rare it is to all come together and create magic in the music and these kids do it all the time. And this one was on live TV, when they were just out of high school, with their dreams on the line. It’s a lot! 😅
They make all of us emotional, I'm 82 and feel like they're my kids and I'm so darn proud of them!
I hope you’ve gotten to meet them their just as sweet in person god bless❤️
I started following from the ‘video killed the radio star’ episode onwards, so only had 3 episodes to catch up on later. Also saw their first concert in Toronto after the sing off win. You can see that they are now more polished, but had the same high standard for their songs right from the beginning. Love your pix reactions!
Welcome back! Glad you are feeling better.
You are not the only one to get emotional witnessing the PTX climb to fame. Love your reactions! ❤
Three Acapella groups emerged from the Sing- Off tv show. Pentatonix won first, Then , Home Free. The group VoicePlay also came from that show, but I don't think they won. All three have done collaborations with each other. Geoff (Jeff) Castellucci, their Deep Bass singer is so good at producing videos that Home Free sometimes have him do their videos. Each group has a deep well of songs to react to .
Love PTX and your reaction to this ! Stay well!
Great reaction! This is one of my favorites from The Sing Off. (Hmmm... I think I say one of my favorites a lot! lol)
Glad you’re feeling better Carmen ❤. Kevin + Avi 🔥🙌
Thanks Carmen for doing the sing off - I hope you feel better
To do list: Add a box of tissues to your set up for Mondays - you'll never make it dry eyed past the next performances. But you'll definitely think they're worth the tears :)
Thank you, I guess I’ll need them 😝
Yes, we've all been where you are now and would gladly do it again.
I enjoy your comments you're in sight and you're beautiful way of thinking
I know what you mean about being proud of them...I always get emotional watching these back too, I was a 13 year old kid who watched this season of the sing off & immediately picked them as my favorite group from the first episode cos I loved the beatboxer & had a crush on the girl 🤣 I've been watching them ever since & its been a hell of a journey, Avi leaving, Matt arriving, Kevin & Matt are now married, Scott & Kirstie are both engaged to their partners & both Kevin & Kirstie have daughters...I'm now 25 years old & they've been my favorite musical group for the past 12 years 🥲🖤
Happy to see you feeling better ~~ And yes, Wow!
This performance was the first of two that they did in the show. They had gotten to the point where enough other groups had been eliminated that the remaining groups did two songs. This is one reason why there was no little vignette after this performance. Also, when you watch the next one, Kirstie is still sick because it is the same night.
Great reaction. This is one of my favorite Pentatonix performances from the show. Glad that you are feeling better.
So glad to see your reaction to this! I can't imagine how they did that with just 5 singers and no instruments. They all shone in this, and it's amazing that Kirstie could go at it so hard with a sore throat. I'm glad you are feeling better, and we'll see you in the next one.
Great reaction video!
Glad you’re back and hope you have recovered completely. I know what you mean about being proud of them and getting emotional. They are about my daughter’s age, and I feel like I’m watching my own kids succeed. Are you going to see them when they come to Europe this spring?
Finally! I’ve long said that viewing Matt as a replacement for Avi is not fair to either man! In my opinion, PTX is an anomaly…made up of five freakishly talented people!!! Further proof of how blessed they are is how they were able to find Matt and incorporate him into their unique group…seamlessly. An accomplishment that often gets missed in the Avi/Matt furor. I’m just thankful for both guys and enjoy both the “old” and the “new” Pentatonix!!!!!!!❤
Exactly! 👏🏻
This one is one of my favorites from the show. The performance is more "acapella sounding" than I usually like (hard to do rock fully well in acapella, they do it as well as you can). But the choice of paues and empty space in the arrangement gave me that rollercoaster bump feeling in my stomach. It's such an early sign of their clever use of silence.
Glad you're feeling better!
I fully agree with you on the Avi/Matt topic. And with the fact that Scott is great with rock. Have you seen him and Vincint do I don't wanna miss a thing? One of my go to for Scott rasp
This arrangement was the first clear indication to me how seriously PTX was listening to the judges and incorporating their advice. Ben Folds suggested a couple of times that they were marginally ahead of the beat, and that they lost potential musical tension because of that. (Ben is a musical savant, imo.) PTX course-corrected in spades with this arrangement! I believe it was easier for them to adopt the judges' suggestions into their performances exactly BECAUSE they hadn't been together for any length of time. They had no old habits or ego attachments to break... just a clean slate to write on, and they took full advantage of that.
This is also one of my Sing-Off favourites, having been in the theatre when this song was featured in the classic 60's movie, Easy Rider. PTX had me with that opening motorcycle rumble... such a great homage, and so flawlessly executed.
I'm not sure Scott is such a great rock singer, though he certainly gave it his all here. A much more believable performance than their Joplin interpretation. For a not-rock singer, and for two full-on minutes, Scott had me believing he was channeling the original singer, our own Canadian, visually-challenged, John Kay. No mean feat.
I look forward to your PTX reactions. Thanks for taking the time to react and record. If YT ever upgrades and adds a "love" button for videos, you'll see a lot of them. For now, this will have to do. ❤❤❤
Thank you, that means a lot! I love recording my reactions to them 😊
Hope you’re feeling better
I am, thank you! 💛
There was no doubt they were winning it after week 8 IMO
But my favorite was their judges choice performance
There were other great performances from other groups in this season
Dartmouth Aires Higher Ground & Club can’t handle me tore the house down
Glad you are feeling better. Love your PTX reactions. Here is the link to the full live stream of PTX getting their star ruclips.net/user/livenPZXeZ1Z_5Y?feature=shares
I was going to comment that if you (Carmen) get emotional like the rest of us, watch the speeches about PTX and from the members, but definitely have tissues ready. There's also a video somewhere of just their speeches so it's not as long as the entire ceremony but would definitely love to see you react to either. Also, I'm glad you're feeling better 🥰
Kirsten wasn’t losing her voice she was simply I’ll aka fever and general discomfort.
Have you ever listened to Voice Play or Home Free?
Not yet, but I have received multiple recommendations for both on my videos, so I definitely will do in the future!
Glad you're feeling better Carmen! There's a bit of irony with you reacting to this particular one now. This 7th performance is amazing since Kirstie was getting sick herself. She made it through, no problems
