I still can’t believe they broke into that song at the end right after crying, like they sounded so stable there after having their voices waver while talking previously like wow lol
And once they moved to L.A. the recording company dropped them very shortly after they got there, because they didn't feel Pentatonix were marketable. Pentatonix then decided to put their talents on RUclips. Lots of work and dedication from them and here we are, enjoying fantastic music.
Teresa Butts the music world is a very dog eat dog world. It is tough to survive on a label in the early years. But through very hard work and perseverance, you can achieve what they have. Few will, and few do.
I have made this "journey" a number of times but this was the best. So good to have such a knowledgeable "guide" because your knowledge of music made it a whole new experience. Thank you. Can't wait for your reaction to their return performance for the next season of Sing Off.
There's always this moment where for a second during that long wait where I forget that they've already won and my heart jumps into my throat lol. Plus, your talk at the end is so true. Thank you for the amazing reaction!
Watching this, many years later, it seems to me that while the win may have given them the conviction they needed that they could succeed, it really wasn’t that significant in the long haul. The record contract evaporated almost instantly, and $200,000, though it sounds like a lot, does go far spread over 5 people. But they didn’t give up, they worked hard on getting their sound out via RUclips and every other means they could, and they succeeded due to hard work, determination, and truly incredible talent. But the talent alone wouldn’t have gotten them to where they are if they’d given up when Sony pulled the rug out from under them. I have so much respect for these people.
I still cry everytime I watch this, because they were babies the smallest group there, so happy for them watching them grow the past 7 years has been amazing... I feel like a proud parent!! Thank you for reacting to their beginning.❤😊
💥I'm back to this reaction.. I love you reactions and inputs.. I am so PROUD of our babies..Though Scott Mitch and Kirsten we're 19 yrs old Avi was about 21 and Kevin about 22..All very young!! And it would crack me up when Avi would refer to the trio as kids or babies being he was/is quite young himself 🤗 I LOVE what they have accomplished and THEY HAVE CHANGED the Acapella world ...make history and leave a mark like Scotty wants them to accomplish. I LOVE them SO MUCH can't wait to see them. Pick up Grammy #4 #5 ect...🎵✨🎶✨🎵✨🎶
Yesterday was the 7-year anniversary of Pentatonix beginning this journey so watching this is making me so emotional to see how far they've come. Also, who am I kidding - this always makes me emotional!
you're spot on with your comment on marketability..... this is what drives most of these shows alothough not all winners really make it after having won.
I respectfully request that you react to a barbershop quartet called Ringmasters and their performance of You’ll Never Walk Alone/Climb Every Mountain. They are an international championship quartet from Sweden and they are AMAZING!!!!!
Great reaction! Boy, do they drag out the suspense. If I was watching that day, I think I would have had a heart attack! It's amazing that they won against groups 3 & 4 times larger, that had been performing together for years. One thing .. I was wondering why you didn't watch the 13th performance "Without You". It is actually one of my favorites, because it is so emotional and they are singing more to each other than to the audience. You never said why you didn't react to it, and I'm very curious.
THANK YOU!!!! OMG! YOU DID IT! I linked this video asking you to do what no other reactor has done! It frustrates me to no end when reactors just skip this part. After reacting to their amazing journey, not reacting to this just makes zero sense to me! It's long but it has ALL the feels of the season wrapped up. I think it also really sums up how so NOT guaranteed this was. People see their performances and think of course they won. Well they sure as heck didn't know that! Dartmouth Aires were really good AND they had so many people which could have meant a lot more votes or just enough to win. So I'm going in for a second request. This interview is just a year after winning. It is so sweet. They are just starting out and have so many dreams. They also talk a bit about how they felt during the Sing Off. You will really enjoy it. Thanks again for reacting to them winning. It made my day! ruclips.net/video/rnSl--WUbHw/видео.html
🌟I have been binge watching you videos and I LOVE your reactions they are SO HONEST ... I am a Pentaholic who gets SUPER EMOTIONAL watching their videos even if it is for the 100th time. I am SO PROUD of them and still hope Avi will make some guest appearances with them. Have you noticed that Avi has been commenting on the videos?? I support any solo projects these guys do because of the LOVE I have for them!!🌟
I love PTX, but must admit that Mitch is my absolute favorite! But, it broke my heart when Avi left the group, especially when he stated earlier in the Sing Off that he wanted to be with this group of people forever ... but he had to do what was best for him. It was SO painful watching the group wait for the decision, all were nervous, but poor Mitch looked like he was going to have a stroke!!! Love you reaction to this!!
Sometime when you have nothing better to do-because it takes a big chunk of time-listen to and watch the total Season 3 videos, and you can see the quality of the competitors. I found it very interesting and worth watching. Especially note the kind of criticism the judges gave each group. Thanks again for doing this series of videos. I hope you will also do the Christmas Sing Off show that Nick announced at the end of this video, and their appearance on Season 4.
I have also watched the full series 3 videos, actually I have watched it 3 times. It takes a whole day to watch the full thing from beginning to end. I really enjoy it.
I LOVE watching the opening numbers with all the groups. It's fun to watch PTX have minor roles, trying to find each member and then they get bigger and bigger parts as they get recognized for their talent. And the Halloween one where Scott rises from the mist.Daannnngggg. Giggle. Snort.
Every time they mention that sony recording contract I get mad for them lol bcz sony cancelled on them within a month of giving it to them and they had to start over on you tube with just the fans they had from the sing off to get them started! it has worked out well for them but if they didn't have the guts to do that, they'd have disappeared like all the others!
I would love to see you react to "Kaylee - Hallelujah (with Pentatonix)" if want to know Kaylee's backstory watch "Kaylee - Interview - Little Big Shots" both videos are from Chris Davey
You realize, of course, that 200K is a gross figure, but after taxes it worked out to about 20,000 apiece, with Ben Bram, their arranger, coming in for a share as well. But whatever it was, it gave them the ability to rent three efficiency apartments and get started making music on RUclips, which is how they built up their fan base. They were (and are) amazing. I've seen it many times now, but love it each time. Thanks for sharing the ride.
While it's not something really appropriate for a reaction, you should watch the swan song for the Dartmouth Aires. They did "Somewhere" from "West Side Story", and I think it is the best swan song of all 15 groups. That they had to perform it after watching Pentatonix win the competition just makes it better. Additionally, their exit at the end (where they all ran down the corridor and off the set) was both classy and in keeping with their personae. The elimination for the last competition episode (the one prior to this one) was somewhat controversial because of the reaction from Pentatonix (especially Scott), because it was pretty obvious that they believed that Afro Blue should have made it to the final rather than the Aires. Scott actually crossed his arms and refused to clap during Afro-Blue's swan song, and it wasn't because he did not like Afro Blue. A lot of the sophisticated chords that Afro Blue used in the show ended up in Pentatonix arrangements, because they *worked*. The Christmas albums in particular drew from those jazz-influenced chords, and many of the arrangements where all of the members were singing, rather than providing a bass and percussion.. I like both the Aires and Afro Blue, but Dartmouth was more consistent and won when they needed to--that vocal blast you saw in the Dartmouth Aires recap, where Michael held that note forever, was actually from the previous episode, where the Aires and Afro Blue had a sing-off to determine who was going to the final (PTX and Urban Method slayed their songs, and made it easily). It was a split decision from the judges that sent Afro Blue home, and Michael's 13-second note was probably the deciding point. I think Shawn had it right that Afro Blue had a signature sound that was more marketable than the Dartmouth Aires, who had a refined interpretation of the traditional a capella group found at many large colleges .
I never liked urban method the one rapper guy was ok sometimes but they were always off key the girls weren't good together at least, maybe they 'd be better on their own. but that's just my opinion obviously they had some votes, but honestly idk how they made it that far!
Dartmouth Aires were literally Goobers on Parade and I freaking hated that they made it so far. (I'm still bitter about Afro Blue, lol) Compared to Pentatonix, the Dartmouth Aires were physically painful to listen to. Looking back on these old performances it's actually a surprise that anyone could hold a candle to PTX, though.
Fun fact: Kirstin is the only woman to have ever won The Sing-Off
Oh yeahhhhh. Good catch!
Awwww love that for her.
If you rewatch this you’ll see one of the Dartmouth Aires jump up in the air when Pentatonix is announced! What camaraderie!
I still can’t believe they broke into that song at the end right after crying, like they sounded so stable there after having their voices waver while talking previously like wow lol

I wonder what became of the Sony genius who made that decision... I hope he or she feels like the damned fool we all now know him/her to be!
@@bill.godwin-austen Especially since they ended up with RCA, which is ALSO a Sony label!
I have made this "journey" a number of times but this was the best. So good to have such a knowledgeable "guide" because your knowledge of music made it a whole new experience. Thank you. Can't wait for your reaction to their return performance for the next season of Sing Off.
I've said this before. It's great to hear a reaction with actual knowledge of what they are listening to. Great reaction. Thanks.
Ray Raudebaugh Urban Mthod crying/singing tho! :(
There's always this moment where for a second during that long wait where I forget that they've already won and my heart jumps into my throat lol. Plus, your talk at the end is so true. Thank you for the amazing reaction!

That was “doesn’t go far”.
Watched Mitch holding so tightly to Kirsten’s hand!
I still cry everytime I watch this, because they were babies the smallest group there, so happy for them watching them grow the past 7 years has been amazing... I feel like a proud parent!! Thank you for reacting to their beginning.❤😊
Please react to their return performance singing I Need Your Love. Its one of my favourites
Edit: thats in S4
Frank Nativa yes!!!
I love how the Aires just swarmed them with hugs when it was announced. Nice boys, those guys.
That was a really good reaction thanks for watching it all the way.
Thanks for doing the entire season Jerod
Thank you for that reaction! Poor Mitchy was fighting a panic attack right there on stage.

You did do #`13! Woo-hoo!
you should watch Hassan Ahmed's PTXperience. He documented from a fan's perspective.
This has been such a fun journey. Thank you for the ride. I liked that you tossed in the pree sing off videos too!

I thought it was so cruel making them sing after their hearts were ripped out.
I love PTX, but must admit that Mitch is my absolute favorite! You will enjoy it! This was a great season. My next favorite group was Afro Blue.......so smooth
Please watch their appearance on the Sing Off Christmas special, it was AMAZING!!!
That would be my first suggestion for reactions for PTX check the date of there earliest xmass songs and the holiday sing off stuff they did.
Avi was one intense Mo FO

Ito this day, I still don't know how Dartmouth Aires even got that far.

I suggest just go from the very beginning of their RUclips channel, easiest way to do it, then you'd be watching them in the order they came out.

I wonder what happened to the exec who decided to pull their contract?
Avi reminds him of whom when he's emotional? (I couldn't hear clearly.)
I never liked urban method the one rapper guy was ok sometimes but they were always off key the girls weren't good together at least, maybe they 'd be better on their own. but that's just my opinion obviously they had some votes, but honestly idk how they made it that far!
And Sony dumped them after one week...what a chickenshit move..who's sorry now?!
I always hated the swan songs so much!! They were all good groups though.

It’s so mean to make them sing, if they lose or win. How difficult is that.
